UK tax payer to cover the £5million cost to police Scotland for Donald's golf trip

I am raging at the UK government and particularly the conservative party for granting Police Scotland £5 million in funds
should Donald trump decide to visit Scotland to take in some golf!

How can the conservative government justify spending this from the treasury when the NHS is on its knees
people in food banks, the list goes on and on !

Austerity means reducing public expenditure, not bending the knee to foreign nationals when they want to play golf in their courses oveseas
instead of doing their jobs!

well if Donald does come up here, I hope he loses his trousers and I hope it absolutely pishes doon!

Why the outrage it happens when any head of state or political of a certain ranking comes to the UK. Hell I've heard of celebs being given police escorts when they go on a shopping trip at the cost of tax payers (Brad Pitt a few years ago and apparently Tom Cruise who claims he didn't ask). He is the President of the US, love him or hate him could you imagine if he wasn't given any protection and was assassinated on our soil? We'd be up poop creak without a paddle. You might consider him to be the devil or worse than Hitler but that doesn't mean we don't have a responsibility to keep him alive while here whether he plays Golf or just stops by to use the toilet.

And you must be upset with all the golfing Trump has done while President. It was such a sore point when Obama was in office.

I seem to recall Trump saying he'd be too busy working to have time for much golf. I also recall Trump criticizing Obama for his golfing. Yet Trump seems to golf A LOT.

But I accept that Republicans are hypocrites.

Just for the record, I don't care how much ANY President golfs. But I wasn't the one complaining.

Nope, I didn't care about golf then and still don't care about it.

I think the point in the article is that Scottish government is devolved and we'd need to pay for the cost to our police force
however HM treasury has turned around and said they'd fund it , how can the treasury just whip out 5 million like that for Donald , but wont make any moves to provide funding for other places in the UK which require money!

Such as the NHS , police , fire services, education !

You name it , that 5 million could be spent better elsewhere
he could pay for his own security , he can afford it !

He is a head of state and should be treated to the same security as others, maybe more due to the protests that may happen.

Can you imagine if he wasn't given enough police support and something tragic happened? The UK would be a disgrace!

Is your problem with the money about Trump and/or golf? This is standard practice. The Royals come here quite frequently and I've yet to hear any beaking about that cost. I can think of a lot more things to get bent about.

it would be fine if we actually had the cash spare but according to our government we haven't had money for the last 10 years
America isnt in under austerity measures so it's fine for America to pay for foreign nationals to visit , but when the country has been under austerity and the people arent getting what they deserve from the government from their own tax money
what makes it ok for a foreign diplomat ,no matter who they are, what makes it ok for them to spend 5 million on a golf trip!

Also you are comparing a country like Scotland , with a population of 5.6 million and GDP of 216 Billion to the united states of america

325.7 million people , and GDP of 18.57 trillion
