Obamacare is a tax that is going to decrease the level of care across the country.

So not letting insurance companies rip people off will lower the level of care across the country. It's nice to see you are not acting like a fake Christian.

What in the hell are you going on about???

We all know there is a problem with the healthcare industry in the US. But the "solution" sucks worse than the problem! People have to start taking off the political blinders that they were issued to at the last "talking points" meeting at Starbucks and look at the damage that this is doing and will do to the country!

No the solution isn't worst than the problem. So you think it's better to have people dying from lack of healthcare just so people can save a few bucks? Healthcare going down because it is for everyone is a load of BS.

More people will die because of the inate inefficiency of a government-run program.
More people will die because bean-counters at the IRS will be determining care.
More people will die because doctors and nurses are leaving the professions in droves.

Healthcare going down because it is for everyone is a load of BS.

I guess you don't work in the medical industry and are just parroting the points vomited on MSNBC.

I think the fundamental flaw in Obamacare is being overlooked. Insurance companies do not make their profit by premiums nor do they even make their operating costs (paying for medical care of their policy holders). All insurance profits are made by investing in the stock market (and bonds during periods of low interest rates). If there is a significant stock market crash (2008) then insurance companies teeter on the brink of collapse until the situation rights itself.

In the case of 2008, the market was "stabilized" by bank bailouts and interest free loans to banks who in turn invested in the stock market. For example, Ford Motor Co was valued at $2.27 per share in Oct 16, 2008. Currently it is $16.30. Prior to the crash, $4-5 share. Is Ford that valuable today or is the market in a bubble from all that bailout money? Here's a hint: Aug 12, 2004 Ford was $13.86

What happens to Insurance companies that are providing Obamacare to everyone (except the estimated 30 million people that will have to pay the "tax" [in quotes because taxes are not penalties, legally those are called fines] to the IRS because they cannot afford the premiums) when that bubble bursts? Oh and let's not forget that Obamacare's selling point was that it was to cover the estimated 30 million uninsured not covered by Medicare or Medicaid. And due to the scale of the subsidized premiums (income based) 8-10 million of the original 30 million still will not be covered and will be forced to pay the "tax". Maybe some of these new 20-22 million will qualify for something when they lose 1/4 their income by going from 40 hours a week to 29 hours and not finding another part time job.

Gambling, not helping 1/3 of your target and causing other people to suffer that were okay beforehand...yeah, doesn't sound very Christian to me either.

Ed Schultz is right if you are opposed to Obamacare based on financial reasons then you are not a Christian. According to Jesus the love and caring for your fellow man should be more important than the love of wealth.

Please point out anywhere in the Bible that Jesus told people to take from one person to provide charity to another. He was very much into personal charity and giving but said nothing to endorse forced charity.

Mark 10:21-22 Jesus, looking at him, loved him and said, "You lack one thing; go, sell what you own, and give the money to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; then come, follow me." When he heard this, he was shocked and went away grieving, for he had many possessions.

This is a forced charity. If you don't sell your things for the poor you won't get into heaven.

He told the man to sell his own possessions and give them to the poor, not take someone else's possessions and give them to the poor.

Swing and a miss!

Besides, we are supposed to have a secular government. Jesus shouldn't enter into it at all...or is quoting Jesus only cool when it is for a leftist cause.

From a socialist point of view, this is not equal. Norway's medicare doesnt cost the middle class the rates yours does. And their overall taxes are the same, their sales tax higher, and they get the award nearly every year of having the highest standard of living in the world and more after tax dollars to support local businesses with, while necessities such as housing costs, energy costs, and food costs are controlled. Ideal economy system and good businesses as well, they flourish as well. You can spend your money supporting local weavers, spinners, craftsmen, and support local businesses.

From a right wing point of view, this is very harmful for free enterprise and the economy.

No one wins, not the left, nor the right. Just the slavers who want to bring us all to our knees. But you guys don't see it.

Unity even if I agree with your idea of a post. Norway is not a good example for you since it is a country with great oil fields that have a very high cost of living and services and high wages due to a big net income for the state based on the oil income. It would be better if you used Denmark as an example since they do not have the extra income from oil. I do not know if Norway have more control over housing costs, but in Sweden and Denmark where we have limited control they are a bit out of control right now, but not as insane as they where in the US from my point of view. The banking system and companies who have cornered the market figured out producing little amount housing can earn you more that really following the real demand.

Beezer has it right.....
Obama Care is about MONEY.....$$$$$ lots of greedy corporate profits....that would have been used to treat the people in any sane and reasonable health care plan......
it boils down to this......the MORE middle men, between the user and the product,....the MORE EXPENSIVE the product will be.....
There is really NO need for the big insurance corps to be involved, except for the enormous profits they will reap from your own compounded misery......

My understanding of obama care from talking to hospital staff that has been trying to figure out the bill is as follows:
All people must have a primary care physician. Deductibles are going up to 300-500$ for emergency room visits. Your doctor will recieve $8500.00 for keeping you alive during the year. If you go to the emergency room, what ever the visit cost will be taken from the doctor. The doctors now are getting ready to keep their offices open from 7:00 AM til 11:00 pm. They do this to keep the patients from emergency room visits and taking money from them. I know several of the general practitioners that are retiring this year because of this. The costs for the patient are if your poor its free if your middle class it will cost you a lot. They basically want to stop ER visits and send you to your doctor. I think this will lower cost as ER visits account for 80% of visits. Most are low income and looking for a pill to eat or a note for missing work.

That what I have picked up. I do maintenance work as a sub contractor and know the people who are coming up with a plan for the hospital.

Free healthcare is fine, but Obamacare is not free. One of the many issues with it is, if you cannot afford private options you get a government option and the government option doesn't really do much. I've heard doctors and nurses all talking about the quality of care is going to go down hill quickly because there will not be enough doctors or nurses to attend all the patients and we will again see open dormatories and wards set up like the TB Asylums of the late 60's which will spread disease from infectious patients and with stuff like MRSA out there, a lot of people are going to die.

I've been to many Christian churches in my days, I was raised in a very "Christian community".

I can honestly say out of 100 random so-called "Christians" -- only about 10-15 of them actually exemplify the teachings Jesus set forth in the New Testament. Most are selfish, narrow minded people that feel that going to church somehow absolves them of all their wrongs.

WWJD? Well he certainly wouldn't be making money off stickers, car badges, t-shirts and hats with his name on them.

Yesterday I drove by a PACKED Baptist church on my way to Costco (gotta get there before the Bible thumpers!) and I said to my girlfriend, "Wow, look at all the guilty feeling people!"

The healthcare system isn't perfect -- In fact I have a feeling we'll have to do some major work, or scrap it and start over -- but it's a start. It got people talking, and more importantly THINKING about the healthcare situation in this country. If Obamacare only did that, then I'd say that it's not for nothing.

Nice! When the progressives get this stupid, then you know that good things are coming!

Panic!

Panic or the ignorance of so called "Christians" who think that Jesus would support thinking saving a buck is more important than helping to ease the suffering of their fellow man.

Sigh. Now the persons that have not repented and put their trust in Jesus Christ for their salvation, are telling those that have, what it means to be a Christian. Crazy world we live in.

Here's something for those that only know anything about Christianity from TV/movies or athiest objectors:

Colosians 1:16

For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
And he is before all things, and by him all things consist

Jesus holds it all together. Your heart doesn't beat unless he allows it. You think your lousy "healthcare", which simply consists of over-perscribing drugs is what keeps us alive? Makes me wonder how humans survived all of these centuries w/o obamacare

I agree

Most are selfish, narrow minded people that feel that going to government somehow absolves them of all their wrongs especially using mob rub to get what they want.

Can't get any more selfish that than and some people have the nerve to decry Christian's.

And you don't see how forcing someone to buy medical care is not in violation of their free will given to them by their creator?

Couldn't the same be said about anything really?

When somebody pays taxes that are fed into public schools, but they don't have kids, I guess they are technically being forced to pay for schools that they themselves do not benefit from?

How about fire emergency services? Your house isn't on fire at this very moment, so I guess the taxes you are paying into that don't really benefit you in any way, right? You should stop paying for that.

You should sit down with a calculator and figure out what public services you do need and don't need, then figure out roughly how much it costs per person to keep those particular services running annually and refuse to pay it. Why pay for something you don't need at the moment

I don't see what Ed's problem is. God will save the children He wants to save, won't he?

Alternatively, we could tax churches and use the money to feed the poor, provide health care, and house the homeless. I'm sure God wouldn't mind.

Just a thought, but what is there to prevent a state from having their police officers from asking for proof of medical insurance along with license, registration and auto insurance during routine traffic stops and using revenue gained from tickets to help offset the increase in state medicaid coverage?
