Because religious freedom is the only thing that is keeping our nation from becoming a full blown theocracy or atheistic-stalinist state. Religious freedom comes with tons of implications and responisibilities. If you ban their right to build religious centers you set precedent to ban Christian, Hindu, even atheistic centers. The Church, Scientific Laboratories, Even private businesses could be erradicated by a unilateral government decree. If muslim moques are found to be harboring terrorists then only those mosques will be shut down. Even then they would have to be reopened after the investigation because indefinitely shutting them down would be a fundamental violation of religious freedom.

For the record, i am a follower of christ. Not a muslim.



EDIT: i noticed that you are Swiss. What i said is applicable to the USA. That said the idea itself could stand true in your country or any other.

No, I am not Swiss. Furthermore, my point is immigration from "non-civilized countries" should stop, as they cannot adapt to the norms of a western society. You already have no religious freedom. You may not stone your child to death yet the bible dictates that you should do so under certain circumstances. Don't ban, just be selective with who you invite into your nation.

Maybe you should take some time and begin to understand why we humans have a language beyond the arning and mating calls of other species. Language evolved in order to explain more and more complex ideas. After all as we evolved from more than just using rocks to bang nuts open, started building houses, navigated the seas and so forth, things needed a bit more words than just alarm cries. So language is meant to pass on knowledge and information. A free press is meant to do exactly that. INFORM us! And if we find it logical to be a bad idea to yell FIRE in a crowded theatre, then a news org. should know better than to spew sensless hate and semi-truth around.

Their countless wars , slavery, abuse of children and intolerance of other political systems and countries has made it all too easy for a rational person to assume that US and A is inherently bad or evil. Not that all Americans are violent self loving hicks.

That said, there is NO justification for bringing down the WTC, nor is there any reason to blame anyone or anything but the dozen hijackers who did it.

Actually, you could take those verses and compare them to some of the Old Testament verses in the Bible, or hell, any religious book that mentions some sort of death to those who do not believe.

It's just an outdated gimmick to make people believe in that certain religion and that it is the true path...blah blah blah.

I am not aware of an other religious book that commands the followers to kill all non believers? I have read the bible and do not recall anything like that.

Not that the rest of the Mainstream Media are much better, but I think Fox "News" is one of the most vile, disgusting, blatantly propagandistic, and parasitic cancers on our society.

I think they should be required by law to run a disclaimer (clearly visible) at the beginning and end of each broadcast stating something like:

Fox 'news' is info-tainment, and should be considered reality-based entertainment. Any facts presented should be double-checked with an independent source before being given credibility. Fox news has secured precedent, in court, for the right to blatantly and knowingly lie to you. Critical analysis is advised.

Of course, one might argue that they aren't required to put a disclaimer like this on other works of fiction. Though this is not entirely true. Check the front (copyright) page of a book, or the end of the credits of a film, and you will see a disclaimer. Further, I don't think many people are confusing "Friends" or whatever tripe is more current, to be factual. On the other hand, plenty of people seem to make the mistake of trusting fox news.

Oh, and another thing-- I'm getting really tired of hearing people say that other stations like CNN and MSNBC are "just as bad."

I will agree with you that the other stations are not much better. I don't watch ANY of them with any kind of regularity, nor do I entirely trust any of them. However, if you care to look there is a lot of info out there about how much Fox lies and skews statistics.

Actually, there was a thread on here not long ago that illustrated very nicely just how badly Fox skewed statistics to make things look a certain way. But of course most of the people defending Fox are conservatives, and are likely taken hook, line, and sinker.

Fox is not the "conservative" equal to CNN, etc. It is not just "the other side of the coin." It is the other, considerably more skewed side of the coin. Show me proof that CNN etc lie as badly as fox, and skew statistics as often as fox, and I'll change my tune, and from here on I'll emphatically state that they are all, quite equally, trash. However, until that time I have to support my opinion that fox is The Absolute Worst "news" network out there.

Your logic is not very sound. I have no religious freedom? I'm sorry but last time i checked i am free to say whatever i want and i am able to worship however i see fit... The only infringement on my religion is that i am not free to use Drugs. As for that part about stoning children. That is bloody ridiculous and if you understood Christianity (which is by no means a simplistic faith) you would understand that those laws are no longer applicable since the advent of Christ. In the New Testament we see Jesus stating over and over "I am the Way" - he says that people no longer need to follow the laws, HE is he new Law. But that is not the point here.

Where i live in my state here in the USA we have a significant muslim population. They have been nothing but nice and have assimilated to our culture very well. I went skydiving with a devout pakistani muslim. He didn't kill me for my support of israel and at no point has anyone been killed under the implementation of Sharia Law. Turns out muslims are no different than christians, atheists or jews. Are their problems in the middle east? Yeah, there are. That is no reason to treat everyone who comes from there like crap though.

The Arabic word Muslim means one who has submitted to God's authority and generally he is a member of the Islamic faith. He is an Islamic Muslim.

I am a Christian,and I have submitted myself to the laws of God and therefore those of the Islamic faith would call me a Christian Muslim signifying that i am a follower of Christ who has submitted himself to the laws of God. Islam means peace. We do not need to fear a true Muslim we need to be aware that our major news networks are feeding us lies in order to control us. They want to make us enemies so that we will fight each other and make us weak and destroy us. A good analogy is like the story of two cats which had their tails tied together and then they were thrown over the clothes line. Neither were real enemies never the less, they destroyed each other.

What we label our self and others without hearing the facts is a foolish act and can show ignorance. If the USA is a christian nation, why then do we kill, maim and torture, why did we use atomic bombs on Nagasaki and Hiroshima. How can we justify the claim that the USA is a christian nation when Jesus said in
Luke 6: 27 Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you, 28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despite fully use you.

There are true Christians that live in this country and follow Christ, but you cannot say the United States is a true nation of God obedient Christian.

Can anyone give an example of fox news lying about something? I don't watch any cable news so I am just wondering if this is based in fact or if people are just repeating stuff they see/hear form opposing stations and political figures/supporters.
