Maybe i need more coffee or brain cells but religion has a bad past, killed alot of people over arguments about what to name their god, does he/she/it wear a trilby or a baseball cap, other pointelss tribal distinctions. I agree it's a dangerous thing to have religion now we're a different society, we're not farmers living in Babylon anymore.

Saying that there's still the belief angle. Unless there cold, hard scientific evidence, peer reviewed, then it's a bit dangerous to conclude things about the way the universe works.Everything else is personal opinion, belief and dogma. There's gaps in all our knowledge, some accept it and others fill it with gods, demons, crack, porn, cars, money, whatever takes the edge of ones own experiences of reality.

It's all fun though, don't take yourself or your beliefs too seriously, be free from dogma, embrace the chaos of unknowing

Guess what? People have been discussing that for thousands of years too? Do you see it working?

Just out of curiosity, when you ask yourself why we have so many different cultures and languages to begin with, why do you think that is?

I am totally free. I am in a state of non-belief. Belief is the bane of delusion. I am pure awareness. I just want to increase unity between all humans by challenging their ideas. While it's fine to have personal beliefs, they should not be isolated! as we are all entwined, we have a responsibility to ourselves and our fellows to have personal beliefs that benefit all

Human-Geography relating to the size of the planet, the time at which life originated on the planet, etc. etc.

Isolation - unique experiences - unique language/belief (yet all essentially having the same experience regardless of different symbols)

Now we've reached critical mass and spread the entire globe - all cultures are being assimilated by one another - We are moving towards unity

You're funny!

You think us trying to assimilate the Middle East into our democratic culture is working?

Where I'm from, The UK, the majority belief seems to be beer and football is the WAY. Sad, but true. Oh maybe some x-factor worship too.

Did you ever define a "lord"? If so, I must have missed it. I saw some hints and ideas, but it didn't look like you had nailed a particular belief down.

totally. that's why we need to create a society that deals with our existential problem. a society that will talk about the absurdity of reality, a society that wont let corporations impose its control. a society that does not leave anyone out, a society that doesn't need to have negative behaviour because we make sure that everyone is fed and looked after - and educated to perceive how unique an opportunity it is to be alive (ergo will not be obsessed with meaningless things and left to rot in suburbia with no future ahead of them because of the governing forces keeping it that way).

That's not what I was saying either.

You're obviously not keeping up on the Middle East. They don't even need our interference. They're doing a pretty good job of destroying themselves without our help. In case you haven't noticed, there's a civil war between the non-Islamists and the Islamists right now.

It only looks like the Egyptian elections were democratic. I think the new Egyptian president is going to prove otherwise. All elections in the Middle East are turning into false promises and lies from their prospective leaders.

21 pages and not a single solid answer in regard to the thread title. Does that tell us anything? No? Carry on, then.

Well, I do know that the US has given all many of countries access to guns - and it's not hard for powers at be to instigate any kind of war they want! And yea, it's #ed. I can't say I have an answer for it. But where there is a will there's a way. But it just reiterates my point that, religion is not conducive to being aware and moving towards a positive solution. And you know it goes deeper then religion, religion is just a facet of the flawed human intellect.

haha, every post of yours is so filled with contempt, it's palpable. all these questions leading to this, so you can feel good about making some blanket statement about me

Weak. Nothing random about me. So don't even try to deligitimise me with that terrible statement. As if you have any coherance or ground to stand on

Yet, at the same time, religion predicted it.
