but seriously one of the funniest things about christain stereotypes is their communities fear of fleshly pleasures despite claiming a divine creation, and in particular, a creation IN GODS OWN IMAGE

No we discuss things and question things, that is what this board is about. If you do not like others questioning your and other faiths goto a Religious site.

BTW uwascallywabbit, you assume I'm "religious". I'm not.

Therefore I have no reason to prove anything to you. I will however put forth that there is no "scientific evidence" of any deity. The "evidence" for believers is found within the construct of faith.

That does not constitute evidence to an atheist, I understand that. It also does not DISPROVE the existance of such.

If you have "evidence" of Gods non-existence... would you care to share that with us.... or does your BELIEF in his non-existence simply rely on FAITH in such.

The evidence of God's non-existence lays in the empirical absence of His presence. If we are to allow that we are all reasonable thinking people, we must take such absence as logically predicating God's non-existence. To form an alternative thought to this would show the absurdity of one's thinking, and the dishonesty of one's reason.

Addition to my last reply: lambs for lions started this thread as a topic discussing the prevalence of atheism on ATS. He is not a supporter of atheism and has stated for the record he is a christian.

So as far as me (or him, or anyone else who doesn't share your opinion) "shutting up and going away" ... maybe it is YOU who needs to do so as this thread clearly wasn't created to foster support for your cause.

It's like you walking into a church and saying "what the hell are you all doing here? I came here to watch porn on my ipod and you're all looking at me like I'm an idiot!"

Have any of you heard of The Prophecy of the Popes? In summary, a Saint Malachy predicted there would be 112 popes before the Great Tribulation and used phrases to describe each one. We are on Pope 111. I personally think the most recent predictions for popes have been remarkably accurate. Almost as if if the Cardinals are trying to fulfill the prophecy. Soon we will find out if the prophecy is true; a time I am not looking forward to due to either outcome.

The new atheist movement is a reaction to the dangerous brand of religious fundamentalism that has taken root in the united states. They should be considered patriots, not provocateurs....Try to see the bigger picture. What kind of country will America be in 10, 20 or 30 years if this anti scientific biblical literalism is allowed to spread unchecked?
