I'm supposed to freak out about Iran getting nukes when (on an abbreviated list) Israel, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, India, Russia, and likely the UAE already have them?

I don't know that the recent attacks on the US embassy in Libya weren't instigated, and the military squad that invaded the compound with rocket propelled grenades wasn't some group tasked with trying to get the US involved in the Middle East some more -- but I won't rule it out.

Iran has never invaded another country in over a thousand years. And if we want to go really far back, the Persians freed the Israel slaves -- but the bible doesn't even thank them. How's that for gratitude?

The plant in Iraq was still under construction. I'm not even sure if nuclear fuel was on site yet. There was no active core.

Shooting an operating reactor core (like in Iran) is a whole other story.

That could be a bad, bad thing for the entire region. Depending on how much fuel is volatilized in airstrikes (or how much melts down) and the wind direction.

I think there are two requirements for the release of nuclear weapons. Having them is one. And losing is the other. Faced with the loss of ones own country and everyone, everything in it is a sure way to breed desperation.

I propose that scenario would be possible for a country so tiny and so surrounded by "enemies", real or perceived. With their backs to the sea, there is not much room to maneuver.

And as far as radioactive contamination being the result of wars recently... well theres D.U. The gift that keeps on giving. "Humanitarian" concerns duly noted...

D.U. is nasty too but if you're refering to Afghanistan, yeah it was probably used and not for the purpose they were designed which is to pierce heavy armor like tanks, but not all cases there come from D.U., Afghanistan has natural uranium deposits all over the place, some of it laying right out in the open. The main culprits for using D.U. come from contractors and mercenaries like Blackthorn, but sometimes our own troops have used them and have gotten cancer and radiation poisoning form it. D.U. should be outlawed, somethings are too dangerous to be used but there's always someone out there who thinks about weaponizing that crap.

Thank you for that. I try and base my arguments on facts rather than emotion. I don't know where these guys are coming up with their blood libel lies (cutting babies from pregnant women is a new one to me) but to even mention such a thing without proof is beyond disgusting.

I on the other hand can sit here and post (if the T&C's allowed the posting of that much truth) one video after another of Muslims slowly cutting off people's heads, bashing women's heads in with huge rocks, hanging gays, blowing up EACH OTHER'S houses of worship while the congregants are on their knees in prayer.

Try and tell me that these are the acts of civilized people. Pamela Geller's got it right; they're savages, and they don't deserve to take another breath.

To be fair, I want it understood that if the Israelis did stuff like that there is no way that I would support them. I see posts bitching and moaning about Israel committing genocide in Gaza, but I don't see any figures to back up those claims. They don't make the same claims about the West Bank, did you ever notice? Why? Because there aren't any rockets being launched from the West Bank. Israel pretty much leaves the West Bank alone because the Fatah leadership isn't attacking them every day.

It's Hamas in Gaza that's the biggest problem. Their constitution still calls for the destruction of Israel, and you can't negotiate with people like that. You can only defend yourself. In the course of that defense, 700 civilians died during Cast Lead - I'd hardly call that genocide - even though (or maybe because) the Israelis called or texted the residents ahead of time warning them to get away from a targeted area. And the only reason most of those died is because Hamas is a bunch of cowards that hide behind the skirts of women and little kids. When the Israelis would warn the civilians to get away, Hamas would gather a bunch more hoping to deter an attack. They failed.

See why I say they (Islamists in general and Hamas in particular) don't deserve to breathe?
