Bin Laden had designated 4 targets - WTC 1 & 2 in NYC, These were named the TOWERS OF THE JEWS
symbolizing finance Targets of American 11 and United 175

The Pentagon named as the TOWER OF WAR, symbolizing American military power target of American 77

The Capitol named the TOWER oF LAWS symbolizing the American government - this was target of United 93
which crashed at Shanksville

All these buildings in addition to their symbolic value had several other salient facts all were very large buildings
easily identifiable from the air and easy to hit

The White House on other hand is fairly small (compared to other targets) , ringed by trees and perimeter fence

Also many "truthers" declare that hijackers were poor pilots (despite having pilots licenses with commerical
ratings and time in jet simulators) yet state that were capable of finding and hitting the White House

Binalshibh reminded Atta that Bin Ladin wanted to target the White House. Atta again cautioned that this would be difficult. When Binalshibh persisted, Atta agreed to include the White House but suggested they keep the Capitol as an alternate target in case the White House proved too difficult

If terrorist were really behind this and wanted to do the most damage, they would have aimed their planes for high traffic areas such as the streets of NY. Many more would have died. The towers were destroyed because they had just been insured 1 month prior to the attacks by larry silverstein for 3.8 billion. He made money by lending his towers for destruction, in one of the biggest insurance frauds of all time

Care to explain how the planes are supposed to hit the streets when the streets are ringed with buildings ?

As for insurance - reason Silverstein bough the insurance was because the banks putting up the money
demanded he buy insurance

In case didn't know the WTC was bombed in 1993 sustaining millions of dollars in damage and disruption

Silverstein attempted to buy only 1.5 billion on each buildings, banks said wanted 5 billion , settled on 3.55
billion for each building

In fact Silverstein LOST money, he has to rebuild the WTC site, still has to pay rent (10 million/month) to
Port Authority and is making no money from smoking holes in ground

i dont know who could really argue they were poor pilots when every target was hit with cruise missle like accuracy. just the flight path taken to hit the pentagon makes me think it would have been just as easy to aim for the washington monument and use that to aim for the white house.

However, consider some things.

(now this is assuming 9/11 was exactly as we have all been told, all conspiracies aside, etc).

The terrorist stated that 9/11 was a blow to the US by striking the heart of our financial center (NY trade center). Against our military (Pentagon) and our leaders (White House, which didn't get there).

As Wrabbit said, it would have been much worse, if the planes had made it to the White House with both POTUS and VPOTUS there, and hit the Capital Building.
But that thinking would be more on the thought of a war on a country by a country

Let's face it: even as bad as things were from the WTC being hit like that, and all those people killed, it didn't stop the US financial institutions at all. Nor did taking out one side of the pentagon take out our top military leaders.
And even if 93 had hit the WH, it would not have demoralized us (the White House was burned down before many ages ago).

But remember........we're Americans. We don't get demoralized. We get pissed off.

Now...if you think about it, it means that who ever made the attack really didn't understand that Americans really aren't really fat, dumb and arrogant, who cave under pressure.

In reality, we're a bit over weight, kind of slow on the uptake, and we don't like to be pushed around (but we do tend to be a bit on the arrogant side). But anyone that has paid attention to US history, should know that we get pissed off, and when we do, we don't just make faces and noises.

So again, either they really didn't understand us...........or (and this is for the conspiracy people, as I know you'll love this part), you could go down the road thinking that "they" (whomever "they" were), knew EXACTLY that's what it would do.

Conspiracy types tend to hold several contradicting opinions

One is the hijackers were so pitiful could not hit anything - Yet assume can pick White House from the air
and hit it

As for the other buildings - refer to earlier post

All the targets were extremely large buildings, the largest in the world, were easily identifable and had
no obstructions to hinder their approach

You know, something else has occurred to me. You have a good point that the blow it would have made to the United States in losing the President's family..and breaking him in the process, the VP and Congress all at once wouldn't have been fatal. It would have been psychologically disastrous for a short period though. Like Pearl Harbor, it would have taken a bit of time to get the United States moving and really engaged after such a blow.

So...what if more had been planned but trashed as soon as it was clear the U.S. was not only un-phased in any functional way, but radically pissed off and coming for someone..anyone..EVERYONE at that point.

Seriously, think about it. They already showed 9/11 was a part of a larger and internationally coordinated action. They assassinated Ahmad Shah Massoud on September 9th. Coincidence? He was Defense Minister to the Northern Alliance and a primary commander to the Anti-Taliban/Anti-Al Qaeda United Islamic Front....and the best ally the U.S. could have needed a few days later. The CIA had serious history with the guy.... He'd have likely, some say, been the Karzai, had he lived. Heck of a preemptive strike.

So if the U.S. had been essentially knocked clear off the world board for even a few weeks in lack of leadership...I wonder if something else was set to have happened? I dunno.. it's a nagging thought I've always had.

Nobody has ever shown that any more video exists. The 80+ number comes from a list of videotapes the FBI had. None of them contained any more video of the plane and a large number weren't even related to the Pentagon.

There are the 1,202 Photographs, documents, receipts, records and pieces of evidence entered by Defense and Prosecution for the only formal trial to ever be held on 9/11. I don't remember what scene photos are in which group by number and I'm too tired to go back into that horror to find them. I'll say they are all in the same sequences though. Shanksville, the WTC and the Pentagon photo sets. Not all together as a group, but each location was entered at once.

Now this was a no kidding criminal trial for murders, among other things. Murders need bodies...and these photos are crime scene level photos. That means, you don't want your kid browsing this collection and if someone is sensitive...there are images there you'll never be able to "un-see". However, that is why the United States Government posted the entire evidence collection this way.
