What's the difference?
There is no realistic difference, it's the same thing. You are paying low income people to live so they don't complain, loot, steal and riot for a living. Instead of giving them a job, it's cheaper to find labor in another countries citizens than it is to employ an American (I personally consider that treason). Your "social safety net" is a recipe for disaster.
Meanwhile, the rest of us with some sense are suffering for it. That isn't a functional society and it will come crashing down sooner or later when the goods run out. It's simply human nature to take something for nothing if you can, regardless of the big picture.

This is all I have to say about Americans and the immigrant issue.edit on 18-6-2012 by kerazeesicko because: (no reason given)
lol there are a lot of "hardworking" immigrants that moonlight as drug dealers etc. And seeing as they are in the country illegally, the very minute they enter the country they are a criminal lol...good first impression is it not?
The point is for most Hispanics men between 16-30, selling drugs and gang related activity is easily accessible, and most get their start as drug runners for the cartels.
Well, if they come here legally, work legally, and stop sucking our government dry, then by all means let them come.
Or maybe it could be that those immigrants come here and undercut our wages, our standard of lving, and our culture. Did you ever think that maybe having a bunch of people willing to work for 1/3 the rate because they're sending all the money they make out of the country anyway to somewhere where it's cheaper to live is a less than zero sum game?
What I do not support in any way shape or form is those that come to this country and SPIT ON EVERYTHING WE BELIEVE IN

None of this is new, Americans have always blamed the immigrants legal or illegal. First the Irish and Chinese now its the Latinos. They stamp their feet and pout about them, but ultimately won't put the feet of those truly responsible aka the employers hiring them responsible. They don't want to admit that the failure of the middle class is their own fault for decades of shopping big box stores, buying American produced foreign cars and prostituting themselves like Chinese labor with free ride "Right to work" laws which is really the right to work for less.
I would like to know if the OP of this thread is American?
Because if you are, you are fat, lazy just as you label all of us.
Have you ever lost a job to an illegal that will work for less? Have you ever seen or been part of a industry to where their wages were lowered because of those "hard working illegals" who work for way less, who don't rock the boat because they don't want to be deported, who don't file Workers comp claims when they are hurt, because they are illegal.
25 million illegal immigrants simply walk across our southern border and you can't find a problem with that? Let me guess, Outcast Searcher, you don't do trade work do you?
The immigrants treat the job as though it's important and they have made it. On the other hand the average American will just be complacent to do his share. There's nothing wrong with that, but you'll lose. You have to do more now if you're competing for those types of jobs and that's just how it is.

Yes...ENTERING the country illegally is a misdemenor.
You are now changing your story now...because now you are claiming repeat offenses are felonies...but that isn't what you originally stated.
Back peddling is fun...but it is very apparent when you do it.
After all, that's what this is really and truly all about. It's angry people, upset because they didn't get everything they ever wanted handed to them on a silver platter, so now they have to demonize others to make themselves feel important. What better way to do that than to create a problem, distort the facts, and blame it on the very people suffering from the problem because somewhere in history before they were born, society made a wrong turn?
lmao
TRANSLATION:im not playing the race card...the only people playing the race card are RACISTS!... pretending that im playing the race card!
If these illegal immigrants truly wanted to better the lot of them and theirs, why not come into the country holding a relevant degree from a well-known, government certified institution?
Answer me that OP and I'll try to wrap this up.
Yes, knee jerk hatred because you immediately assume that if person A does not want person B to come into this country illegally, it must be because of hatred.
Objectively thinking people would examine the situation in greater detail, and weigh both the risks and any potential benefits of illegal immigration.
Sure there are some benefits, but the negatives far outweigh the positives, and that is the main point of this whole discussion.

Yes...like I said...some Americans fear the competition.
It isn't about them being "illegal"...it isn't that they will work for less...because if it was, people would have no problem with making legal entry and obtaining work permits extremely easy. Then they would be legal and they would work for at least minimum wage.
But they don't suppor this...and it is because they fear the competition...they know how hard immigrants work...they have a drive and a determination that most Americans just don't have. So not only do they want all "illegals" gone...they want to keep legal entry extremely difficult and at the lowest level possible. Then they can continue to be lazy and don't have to compete with extremely hard working and determined immigrants.

All those living in the USA whose relatives/ancestors did not come from another country but were already here, please raise your hands!
When your relatives/ancestors came here the first time, what do you think they were doing? You don't think they work for less in order to get by until many many years and perhaps a few generations until they became successful?
If your great, great, great, great, great, great grand parents could tell you the story of their lives when they first went to the USA, you will see the similarities of what we now see with immigrants and with what they went through.
You are now acting the same way those acted upon your ancestors when they first arrived in the USA!
