How would you feel if it were an endurance race and you made a good finish even if not in the top five? In that event I would say you had a worthy vehicle. This is about liberty. But if you prefer bondage and discipline, fine. I think self-discipline is a noble effort.

So, this is what it has come down to. It was inevitable.

Kinda bummed, because I just gave money YESTERDAY.

I have been feeling like the future is just dismal today too, so this was news I didn't want to hear.

Seriously? There must be paid shills on ATS. I have been reading the comment thread on MSN.com, which usually makes me want to go out and smack some sheep, and there is MORE positive, non troll posts than this thread, it seems. And that is coming from SHEEP CITY! I have never seen anything like it from that site. Check it out:

MSN Paul ceases campaign

Read through them, seriously. Gives me hope people really are waking up at a fast rate.

It shows he wasn't serious in the first place. Just like last time, Paul bails on all his supporters. He could just as well have kept campaigning for delegates in states where they have not yet been chosen. If we were to believe the Paul supporters, "this election is much closer than you can possibly imagine."

Well??????

What happened to all those "unbound" stealth delegates?

What happened to "Ron Paul math"?

What happened to all the Paul Bots calling the rest of us idiots and delusional for pointing out the obvious?

Here ya go, Paul Guys. After all your hard work your Great Leader has abandoned you.

With the amount of Ron Paul trolling that goes on this site you dare wonder why people call non RP supporters/trolls idiots? Most cases, they are absolutely right about calling the trolls idiots but lets be fair here, no one is blatantly calling others idiots, otherwise Ron Paul threads would be filled with Mods "Post Removed" banners and become locked (although some posts are removed & threads locked).

So yes, non RP-supporters/trolls don't get along with Ron Paul supporters, we get it, thanks... And it's funny how you see this news and I see this news. You see it as Paul dropping out of the race where as I don't, mainly because I read the part where he says he doesn't have the funds to actively campaign and to be honest his message has spread and word is out. If he want's to draw a huge rally to give a speech he will, more so now than before because he's no longer actively campaigning. I wouldn't be surprised to see him give a speech or two in Cali, & elsewhere. He's still going to Tampa and he's still winning delegates, just like he said he was gonna do all along. His supporters have taken it upon themselves to become delegates in their home states and so far it's been working. Ron Paul is beating out the MSM's "projected" delegate count. Bravo RP supporters, you've already won but are you all done yet? I think not.

Do you know how much Obama's campaign cost in 08? Something to the tune of 600 million dollars. Yep. And last I read, Ron Paul finally got his first billionaire donor a few months back, although, as we all know, Ron Paul receives more contributions from active military folks then all the others combined. So he may not be rich but he is connected, connected to the people. Well most people, not you guys.

Ron Paul 2012, not actively campaigning ≠ dropping out of the race.

Yes, Romney supporters. No need to turn out at the polls now, I'm sure you all have better things to do. No need to become delegates and caucus for the man you're not enthusiastic about at all. Don't worry, with Ron Paul out of the race
you can stay home and watch Fox news.

Look at it this way ~ suddenly the media remembered he was a candidate. This will backfire just as all the other twisted news has backfired.

Good on you for giving money. It isn't over by a long shot.

I still plan to give money once I find a job (i just graduated in healthcare), and make ron paul signs with my own two hands, and hang homemade banners from overpasses, and tell everyone that will listen about Ron Paul... I'm not giving up till its over, and its not over yet

I just got the email from the Ron Paul campaign about it. He is no longer going to actively campaign in primary states. Honestly, whats the point? There's no reason to spend money in states that count dead people as votes. The GOP wants Romney, but they are having a very hard time getting the delegates. It's very clear to me by now that Romney just doesn't have the real existing support they keep lying to us about.

So he is giving up on the liberal states? Is that what you are saying in code?? "count dead people as votes"

Did he run out of money, is it arrogance thinking he got romney where he wants him, maybe a discrete way of throwing in the towel? I am seriously puzzled.

This country is broken, the voting system is totally rigged from the start, and the media tries to help it along.. And people wonder why the Ron Paul people are so passionate and actively fighting against this joke. Everyone else just sits on their butts and watches it happen.
edit on 14-5-2012 by Wookiep because: (no reason given)

Of course the entire election system is rigged! That is why ONLY democrats and republicans EVER WIN.

You have to have lots and lots of donations, or you get the bare minimum tv coverage, which is too little to have a real chance at winning. Many people are still unaware of this........

Sounds to me like he has. He got the picture. Romney has come out on top.

They will never admit it.

His goal has always and continues to get that coveted prime speaking part at the convention. In Paul's mind he thinks that if he can make his speech, and have a couple hundred people there cheering for him, that the Republican party will just adopt all his policies. We all know they won't...except maybe the "states rights" only so they can push religous legislation at state levels where it is easier than federal.

I'm still waiting for the excuses when Ron Paul gives Romney an endorsement.

You really think if Ron Paul gives that speech he won't have the place cheering for him? Ummm, mmmkay. Lets see, Romney speech vs Paul speech. YouTube them sometime, although I'm sure you've watched plenty of Paul speeches already, you are just in denial, just like you say RP supporters are. Funny how that works?

Somehow I don't think Paul supporters are going to realize the signifcance of this annoucement.

Now you're no worse than CNN...spinning this just as they do. He hasn't conceded anything, OS, and you know that.

This is from his own release on his website.

We will continue to take leadership positions, win delegates, and carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention that Liberty is the way of the future.

"Carry a strong message to the Republican National Convention"

Doesn't sound like that is a man who is still trying to win the nomination.

Just to be clear, that last quote that was made is by Paul’s campaign manager Jesse Benton, not Paul

Yeah they do not, RP is stepping out plain an simple...all of you RP BELIEVE'ers blindly can conjure up whatever story you want that makes you feel good... I support RP but know that his time is coming to an end as a GOP runner.

I said this just last week...he is in a great position however to make some demands of the GOP, his political capital is BIG regardless of him dropping out because of loyal and faithful supporters.

It is sad to see...

Maybe he got a threatning call from the mothmen?

Nah. Just kidding! Hopefully he knows what he is doing.

I will admit that I did not like the guy at first, but something about him seems authentic.

I had the same feeling with Obama but he turned out to be a joke. Still I think Obama is better than Romney. It is not easy to do your thing when confronted by the Federal Reserve International Limited Liability Corporation.

WHat is he conceding exactly?

He has been campaigning in Texas, has spoken and already been in California where he has drawn HUGE crowds. Why go back when the organization he needs is already in place and strong?

I think I clearly said that his supporters will be cheering for him.

He won't have the whole place cheering for him, unless he decides to no talk about foreign policy at all.

Yeah sure, we should all join the Obama lovefest...

Only united can we take down the Banking Cartel.

I'm all for that, but according to OWS "taking down the banking cartel" apparently means socialism, which is what TPTB are already working towards. No thanks.

My favorite Ron Paul quote: “We don't need to pay all this money to keep troops all over the country, 130 countries, 900 bases. But also, just think, bringing all the troops home rather rapidly, they would be spending their money here at home and not in Germany and Japan and South Korea, tremendous boost to the economy.”

Glossing over the fact that he hadn't taken into account the withdrawal from Iraq, significantly reducing the number of soldiers abroad. He claims that soldiers would spend their money here at home. What money? The only thing I can derive from Paul's political promises is that almost the entire military would be laid off, massively increasing unemployment and reducing economic activity but of course doing wonders for the debt of the Fed. gov't. I suspect the debt reduction would have little benefit with the last final shotgun blast to the face of the economy that his spending cuts would administer.

If you really knew anything about politics you would not be making such absurd comments.

You have no idea what socialism, communism, capitalism are. It is just the McCarthy propaganda you remember. Or you are really, really, really wealthy and I don't have to call you a moron. Which is it?

You do realise money is a finite resource. How much have you donated to his campaign? Clearly, he do not have the support of corporate america that Romney is getting, and he do not personnaly have the 30-40 millions required to actively campaign running ads and all.

Before you ask, I did not contributed as I am canadian and I do actively suupport Pirate Party of Canada.
