"Other nations" CAN an DO have them.

China has them. Russia has them. India has them. Pakistan has them.

There's no issue there. Those "other nations" haven't promised NOT to have them, then broke their own word.

That's where the issues come into play.

Because Iran is an NPT signatory, and Israel is not.

Israel has not broken their word in regards to nuclear weapons. They may have them, or they may not. In all likelihood they do, but the fact remains that they never promised NOT to have them, so it doesn't matter whether they do or not from the standpoint of international law.

The way I see it, if Iran indeed is procuring nuclear tech, is that it's for MAD. You attack them, they retaliate. It's like insurance. If Israel which is equally as hellbent on death and destruction as Iran can have an unchecked nuke arsenal, then Iran (and everyone else) should be allowed too.

Ideally, I'd rather NOT let anyone have nukes... I wanna fight WWIII in the trenches, not underground.

If Israel didn't have nukes, they would not be so ready to go into Iran alone and unilaterally. But because they hold the ultimate nuclear trump card, and Iran knows it, Israel thinks it can pretty much just waltz right in there with no response. Take out the nuclear facilities, and bing bam boom they're home. "Iran is not about to chance a response alone, knowing that any attempt of that may bring the nuking of Tehran."

But with major elements in the ballgame like Russia/China, that completely changes the picture. Israel just refuses to look at the real jpg. The picture has colors. We've moved on from black and white.
