its not at all as it is complete homophobia which is being displayed, and also a complete ignorance towards gay people and their intrests and life!

EDIT : i had to add, most of the homophobia is not deliberate, it is brough on by people being scared of gay and LGBT issues at a subconcious level ... scared they will turn gay and all sorts of nonsence ... ! Its a very deep mental issue that i dont have the words or education to go into in much accurate detail ... but i have found all this out myself through personal expericnce with my job.

i think people seem to think that gay = porn and all sorts of dirty nastiness.

(i get this alot through work, i work for a gay website, people instantly think its porn when its very very very much not porn and wouldnt even do that!)

Dude that isn't the point.

Race/sexuality are always touchy subjects with people. If gays/whatever get their own forum, then straights do. Then whites do, then african americans, et al. Anything gays have a problem with can be put in the social issues forum.

we do have our own FORUMS... they are called ATS! ...LGBT topics are not related to SEX and their are many political and metaphysical issues related to the LGBT comminuty and they deserve the chance to have discussions without bellends jumping in and giving them crap for being gay just as much as anyone in the paranormal forum wants to be able to post how they have been speaking to angels without bellends like me jumping in and calling them loonies!

all the people who are anti gay forum on here should actualy TAKE an hour and reaserch LGBT issues / politics / rights and so on ... you will be very suprised how much there is out there!

There's nothing wrong with being Gay, Bisexual or Lesbian (unless you're one of those bible-thumping homophobes from a backwoods cabin or just a close-minded homophobe in general), but having a dedicated Forum section "for Gay's and Gay related topics" goes against what ATS is all about.

Think about it......If ATS were to dedicated this type of section, it would be not only a magnet for gay-bashers and hate speech; but would lead to ATS needing to add forum sections for every race, religion, sexuality, belief and political genre. ATS would literally turn chaotic and become nothing more than any other internet-ghetto forum site.

I personally don't feel a specific LGBT forum is needed. As a side note, if ATS was "homophobic" or anti-gay all existing LGBT based threads would be immediately deleted by mods, which they are not.

By "forums" I meant topic. Each one is a different forum.

But do you really think having your own "topic" on here will stop people from coming in and saying stuff? Look around, you have people who don't believe in UFOs posting in the UFO forum. You have people who don't believe in ghosts posting in the paranormal forum. There's freedom to pretty much say what ever you want anywhere you want to as long as it's within the T&C. Like I said, anyone can post something in social issues, but getting your own forum for that isn't going to happen here

NOW, some of you not got why i just posted a bunch of links ... these are simple and blatent proof that an LGBT forum IS needed, is IS valid and LGBT issues are not related to sex most of the time!

LGBT issues are real ... ATS, get a forum up ... truly deny ignorance!

ps - @Baldryck This thread has basicly showed me how collectivly homophobic ATS is by completly slating the idea of an LGBT issues forum just because Its gay and most of the people who have posted are NOT GAY!

all of those stories could be placed in one of the many existing forums. Sure they all have a gay issues involved, but many other stories involve hetrosexuals and their issues and they don't have to be placed in a hetrosexual only forum to be valid. If it make's any difference I'm bi-sexual and still don't think a separate forum is needed.

Calling ATS homophobic is not helping anyones cause in my opinion.

ive not called ats homophobic, but by refusing the request they very much could..

pesonaly, if they dont it just goves sites like the one i work on more of a chance to get people into using there new forum system ... so really what im saying is dextrimental to my own interests, but hey ... ive been a long time ats member and believe in absolute fairness towards all people on ATS!

I am calling the people who have posted complete crap reasons for not having an LGBT issues forum out on their ingrained homophibioc attitudes, which sadly are caused by ignorance towards the LGBT community and there views and (in most men) the fear that they will read something related to a gay issue and turn gay!

The links i posted, yes, you are right they could be posted anywhere ... but you also have to agree that if posted in most of the forums they could be on ats , they would get abuse from the usa bible bashers and the homophobic types (which i now see is quite alot here) who are on ats.

people who have an interest in LGBT issues deserve a place to have constructive discussions about LGBT issues without people gatecrashing posts as they do now .
