The problem im finding with these OWS rants is that some of the protesters are very misinformed, they come to rant about topics that should not be talked about, its about us americans trying to take a stand and fight for what we believe in to be wrong, which there are many things wrong with country and it seems like "we the people" have finally had enough but without structure and a lack of command and control of these movements they lack substance, everybody involved needs to try and get on the same page and by that i mean do not give reasons for the police to disband these movements, act like an adult and get your point across so they know we mean business, the nonsense needs to stop if this is going to gain any more steam.

I know I shouldn't have used the words "END RANT". Even if it was a "rant" it was on topic to US Political Madness. So I don't think it should have been moved.

Every post at ATS can be considered a rant.

The same people on this forum who want to discredit the occupy movement are likely the descendants of those who tried to discredit the civil rights movement.

Thanks for the kind sentiments. Surprisingly, the only person who had something negative to say in return made no sense at all. He couldn't find anything real to disagree with, so he made stuff up and then disagreed with himself. We are living in bizzaroland.

People are so disconnected from their bodies and nature that pooping is this taboo thing and if someone has to do it in public it is the most grievous offensive thing. It's absurd.

People at a protest aren't going to where their sunday clothes.. some people are camping out there and some basically living out of a tent with no shower or clothes washer/dryer.

The problems of OWS are not uncommon to any group.. the only reason it's an image problem is because the media is purposely exaggerating and discrediting or manipulating stories. (not every single one).

As for the protest starting in fall.. we need change now, this moment.. there is no point waiting to protest in spring when the same problems are going to get worse.. and the same media will criticize while the same top posters of ATS lap it up.
edit on 11/19/2011 by Drezden because: (no reason given)

Man are you in denial or what? You are really grasping at straws to explain the behaviors of some in OWS. If you find defecating in public to be acceptable behavior then that speaks volumes. I've had friends with IBS and I've had food poisoning and we have always found a restroom to use. I don't mean to pick on that particular example but you keep condoning it. Kinda gross, if you ask me.

You make excuses for people's behavior, that's your right. But when I and other people tell you that OWS has an image problem and you deny it, you are just sticking your head in the sand. Some in that movement give an overall impression that isn't all that positive. OWS does have image problems unique to itself, being that a lot of the Occupiers are fairly young. You must go the extra mile to impress and convert others, so far, they haven't done that. Who wants to emulate a bunch of squatters with ill manners? Good luck with that.

Until OWS changes something politically, they won't amount to much. You think either party is going to worry about OWS if they don't use their numbers at the ballot box? The only reason people listen to the Tea Party is that they organized and got their candidates (quite a few of them) elected. I don't see OWS pulling that off.

As to the last point, why didn't OWS start when TARP was going on in 2008? Then, maybe you could have stopped it? To me OWS woke up about 3 years too late IMO. You would have got a ton of people jumping on the I hate the banks and Wall Street wagon.

Glad to see how much thought and effort you put into your rebuttal. Thanks for providing a link where you rant on some other thread, as I can see you put a lot into that post as well.

Occupy is not an Obama construct. I don't know why you guys keep repeating that.
It's not. It is a fact that it is not. Why would you want to try to derail a movement that will actually hurt Obama in the long run. I would say a majority of the protesters are against Obama.

Pelosi and Obama supporting it means nothing. Obama has to support it. He can't denounce a protest that would lose him the youth vote this close to election year. So of course he says he supports it, but trust me, he has every reason to worry about it.

There were people in the Obama administration taking credit for OWS.
From adbusters to SEIU to ACORN 2.0, to Van Jones this has been a "progressive" push.

What evolves from it? I'll save from speculation.

Vic, you and I have gone round and round on this issue. If I could cherry-pick the aspects that I agreed with, then it'd be good. But as a whole, this movement is more in line with the Obama agenda than with a true revolutonary agenda.

Those things just aren't true though.
Some individuals from those groups may have supported it, but as I have said over and over. The KKK supported tea party, I think they also supported Occup. Some churches are avidly against Occupy, some support it fully. Those people from the groups you listed may try to influence it, but this is a nationwide and worldwide movement with small towns within the US and cities in other countries that are completely out of those peoples/groups influence. That's even making the assumption that any of that is true! They didn't start it. What Fox news is failing to tell everyone is that this movement isn't even an American movement! It started in another country. We have talked time and time again about this. Of course liberal groups and liberal people are pushing it because they want to gain a foothold to hijack the movement. Acorn and the likes would probably LOVE to be behind it and pulling the strings and they may have tried, and if they got it they would probably use it to help Obama, but the fact remains that they don't control it. They have no power over it.

It started in Malaysia, special interest groups helped it crop up here, but it fell out of their hands because unfortunately for them i guess, there are real problems in America and highlighting those problems succeeded in forging the movement where those groups could not.

Also it is worth noting that all of these accusations come from one source Fox news. Fox news, is not news. It is a propaganda channel. I'm sorry it's just not true. This movement is too big, and too international. It's out of their realm of influence. Why do you think this is an international movement if it only serves these little special interest groups. If Obama is grinning it's because he has to grin and bear it. Occupy does not support any of the presidential candidates. I pay attention. The day they do I will never say a kind word about them again. I have seen people made to put down signs in support of Obama. Run right out of the protest.

www.politico.com...

As time passes I think you will see. The economy isn't going to get better. We are heading towards inflation and higher unemployment rates. No matter what Pelosi or Obama tell you, no president wants nation wide protests in their countries streets while they are in office... it doesn't look good at all. From a world view all people see are Americans in the streets 24/7 unhappy and a man in an office that couldn't stop it from happening. I promise you Beez.

I understand your angst friend...maybe all these rants your upset about could be better said,,,, but it truly is full of morons and idiots...sorry. There are a few bright ones around...but they are just smarter mis-guided morons and idiots. This is all going to come to a head by next summer...there could very well be a civil war. And for what? Because a bunch of sheeple are allowing themselves to be manipulated into believing that socialism is what this country needs? Really? It does not work my friend. And one other thing....The FED..IS NOT the 4th branch of government...come on...i do hope you were jesting, but i suspect you weren't. The fed is a bank...and not even close to being a branch of gov. So you see....its statements such as yours that attracts the comments and slams. You don't have a clue do you? OWS and all the others around the country are being instigated by the evil elite who want this country to fail. And you are supporting this. They want things to be so bad for the conventions and elections, so Obama and his evil admin can maybe stay in power beyond his welcome...maybe suspend elections....ever think of that? This Occupy crap is so wrong on so many levels its sick. Nothing is going to come of this that is good. What do you expect the big corps to do? What is it that you want? You want the filthy rich to come out and say...OK OK..Your Right...I have to much money...here take mine....Be real. Its statements like yours friend that make me as upset as you are about the whole thing. Focus on the US Constitution and how to get back to respecting that document...you want things right? Get back to basics. Cut out all the PC Crap, stop the Jew slamming....and SUPPORT ISRAEL. The farther we drift from the God that made this country happen...the deeper into the depths of mayhem we will go. Listen a little harder to what they are preaching down at the demonstrations....LISTEN!!! Listen..... And remember that there are 3 branches of Gov...not 4...three. The feds NOT a branch...hahahaha.....oh my.

I know we are supposed to post more than a few words...but you seem to have a grip on this OWS Bull... keep talkin, maybe the OWS sheeple will get a grip. The OWS'ers don't see that they are being played sooo bad its pathetic. I have watched sooo many one on one interviews with so many of them, that it is obvious that the great majority of them are just plain ignorant. I can watch wide footage with the sound down to see that the greater majority of theses 'people', are really not very bright. And you are so right about this admin egging them on,
And when these same people slam the Tea Party..that really takes the prize. You will never see a Tea Party gathering that even remotely resembles any of the OWS crowds.

Living in Germany, I'm not exposed to US media as much. So Fox has had no impact on my opinion.

From the start, "Occupy" (at least in America) has been more about "economic" and "social" justice than anything else.
And those are just buzz-words for wealth distribution.

"Occupy" took a theme and made it their own. Targeting banks and Wall Street while ignoring the Fed, and politicians has been a partisan move that embraced the class warfare undercurrent that was initiated by the current administration.

I started the Cute Fluffy Baby Kitten thread to illustrate that some aspects of Occupy are good. Who is for graft and corruption? The solutions presented though, here and on the Occupy websites only beg for larger government.
(we've discussed this)
Government is just as culpable as Wall Street, and to punish one while rewarding another, is a zero-sum gain.

I will continue MY fight for smaller, more responsible government. I will encourage stronger laws to inhibit corporate and union and PAC influences in politics.
(another thread, but a dem has the right idea on that)

But a I will not support a movement wanting a larger government, larger control over business, or legislation that would include loan, housing forgiveness, or a government "jobs" program that just takes tax payer dollars and "redistributes" it to those that the government hires.
Government is a necessary evil. It should not be seen as an employer, or rescue, since government created the problems in the first place.

I've been sceptical of OWS and Occupy from the start.

Well....here is an idea....why dont you sit down and write the OWS MISSION STATEMENT....since they dont seem to have one other than threats and and obscene behavior. You say that they shouldn't give the police a reason to disband them...well maybe they should go home and shower and come back after the people who own the PRIVATE PROPERTY they are occupying clean up the disgusting mess they create.
I Keep hearing people say that the media and others are focusing on the acts of just a few....that is so wrong....the few...happens to be the ones that aren't getting there mug in front of the camera. Seems to me that all i hear is support from the rest of the crowd when someone starts a chant. Or when someone poops in the street in front of God and country, instead of at least trying to make it a private matter. Hey ya gotta go ya gotta go right? Yeah, ok pal, you go ahead and rationalize that act all you want, and then go look at all the waste from the rest of them. There are no 'just a few' of these types there. Its the great majority. If the greater lot of them are decent folk...why do they stay there with the troubled ones? You don't see any...ever...Tea Party gathering leaving a mess behind when they leave an area. When OWS types gather....and the Liberals gather, there is always a mess to clean up. Its been documented. Aug 8th gathering in Washington. between 600-800 thousand Tea Party Types gather at the mall to hear Glenn Beck....They leave the place SPOTLESS....The Libs d\have a gathering of less than 80,000 a month or two later, and when they left the place was TRASHED!!! All this OWS garbage ...all of them....in every state, cause problems, in one form or another. So tell me again how its just a few.

You're so full of it.

How can you attend Tea Party rallies, talk to OWS protesters, etc., if "Living in Germany, I'm not exposed to US media as much. So Fox has had no impact on my opinion." that is true?

One way or the other, you seem to be somewhat less than truthful.

IMO when something like these (threads that are anti-ows) become relatively repetitive (with a different problem at the same situation) then it deserves attention. Why do I say that? Because I believe if you support something 100% then you should defend the bad that comes out.
I'd much prefer if all the peaceful (notice I didn't include the violent ones?) protesters of OWS/O(x) moved their campaign to somewhere more eye-catching such as the White House or any other building that serves as a major political (battle)ground.

That's not true though.. at all.
Ask yourself.. how much evidence have you really seen? How many actual straight up protesters talking? How many were just about those things?

See that is what is being touted because that fits in perfectly with the 2008 to current new conservative scare "soooocciiialllissstss." In reality the only protest that gives a large portion of it's focus to Wall St. is the New York protest. The other states aren't. It has grown past that. I wish people could just see and understand that yes, they started out a little mislead, the idea of Occupying Wall Street became more of a symbol for the movement than just a place to occupy. That has since changed (finally). It was confusion. There were two glaring problems Big banks/business and their conflict of interest with government.

The movement at first erroneously only protested the former part of the conflict of interest. That has since changed. You have to accept that only in an unrealistic, media story world do things not change. They stay whatever fits the best agenda. In this case it's "protesting wall st = anticapitalism/socialists" they will never reveal the truth: the majority of the protests are now focusing on the government and that is why they are growing rather than shrinking.

It was the protesters mistake, they allowed themselves to be led by people that were liberal and so they only wanted them to focus on the wall street/business part (these are the people conservatives think control the group), and the groups didn't want them to protest the government because these special interests supported Obama. However, since there was a real problem, and they didn't control the protests the protesters quickly started waking up to the real problem (both govt and big business) as they were out on the street basically getting schooled. So now we have a nation wide protest that broke away from the manipulators, and is shining light on the major problems with this country, government, and financial institutions.

I am going to author a thread on it to explain it better beez so i'll hit you up with that when i'm done. This is a huge protest, it has the potential to change our future, it was born in complete confusion and was cradled by the very corruption it now legitimately fights against. It was the protests necessity to exist that allowed it to break away from those special interests and maintain it's innocence.
