No offense but this is a very defeatist attitude here!

Alot of the people in it are unemployed/laid off, giving them more reason to join the protest. They are pissed, tired and poor. What they are doing may not add up to much, but they are doing something. I live in NY and I see em all. Don't treat them too badly, because people are giving them a hard time and the police are messing with them.

Explain?

What is there to explain?

Our banks never got massive bailouts.

The companies that recieved bailouts...cough...auto...cough...have already started repaying (some have even completed.

Keeping our safety nets afloat costs money, far more money than most people realize. Money that the Canadian government usually recieved from exports of natural resources; oil, electricity, uranium, etc. When the reccession hit the US hard, our export sales dropped reducing our governments non tax income. So instead of jacking the taxes to cover the shortfall, they ran a deficit (banking on commodity prices gowing back up). So far it seems that they guessed reasonably well.

In Canada our biggest issues are relatively minor compared to countries like the UK and US. Our problems are still at the greedy politician stage, which wont be solved (or even heard) in Toronto.

If they want this to mean anything here, they need to move to the correct city first...Ottawa.

How much protesters are now on the streets? Seriously, you are not an American. So why do you care so much about trying to derail something you know absolutely nothing about? The least you could do is learn our language if you are gonna bring this crap in here.

Five pages so far......3 flags. FAIL thread is fail.

.....and do you really think 99% of New York is gonna show up for anything? Give up, this movement IS happening so get out of the way.

....one more thing: What have YOU done lately?

lol. Just checked your post history. This is too funny. Coming from a guy who believes that plants are taking over the world and are making us their slaves.www.abovetopsecret.com... Now I most certainly won't take anything you say seriously.

I'm in the 99% and there is no way these people represent me - not in ANY fashion. I do NOT want Obama re-elected. I do NOT want socialism. I do NOT want a dictatorship. In fact, the only thing I share with them is that I want Wall St. and the big corporationsto lose their stranglehold on our politicians.

Here is a list of my demands:
- Make campaign contributions illegal, from ANYONE!
- Make lobbying illegal
- End the Federal Reserve and restore the coining of money to the Constitutionally authorized Congress
- Implement term limits on ALL politicians
- Return to paper ballots
- Restore States-rights and right size the Federal Government
- Enforce existing immigration law and protect our borders
- Repeal ALL free-trade agreements
- Impose strict tarrifs on importing nations who manipulate their currency
- Impose strict tarrifs on US corporations who insist on importing finished goods that could be made here
- Impose taxes and penalties on US corporations who outsource existing US jobs
- Restore capital gains taxes
- Implement a flat tax
- Abolish the illegal IRS

These are simple and REAL demands that everyone should be able to rally around. maybe when the communists evacuate Wall St. the REAL Americans can come in and demand some REAL changes.

1% of the population has stolen all the wealth
which leaves the other 99% totally screwed.

Can I ask in all innocence:

Why is it then an insult in America to be called liberal? Left wing? Socialist? Comunist?

Even a huge part of the ones on ATS who cry out about revolution, power to the people, down with TPTB etc. use the word socialist as an insult, when they want to shoot down "Health Care" and "taking care of the weak" in the society.

Why all this about "We take care of our own family", when facts tell us that it isn't so?

And how should a poor family take care of their poor relative?

Socialism is right around the corner my friends.

Is no one else concerned about Van Jones supporting this thing?

Former White House adviser Van Jones says that progressives are going to launch an "October offensive" to rival the Tea Party, in the spirit of the Arab Spring protests across the Middle East.

"Everybody should hold onto their seats. October is going to be the turning point when it comes to the progressive fight back. You can see it coming," Jones said this week on MSNBC's "The Last Word" with Lawrence O'Donnell.

Huffington Post

you know... Van Jones the avowed Communist green jobs czar who had to resign because his true feeling came out?

the guy who loves warren buffet and thinks he's right in wanting higher taxes. which of course is false. with many unemployed people and 40% not paying taxes at all, of course the government is losing income. don't need to raise taxes to get it back.. need to let the country create jobs

Wow you are ignorant. He explained 1% hols 40% of the worlds wealth, the other 99% is poor or middle class.
It's not about 99% of new yorkers protesting, no one said 99% of the world would protest this.

Your twisting the analagy towards your specific reasoning, showing how truly ignorant you are. Most people would love to protest but have to feed their families...damned if you do....damned if you don't.

Saying all this is a Hoax couldn't be further from the truth either. Saying it's a joke is also far from the truth, seeing as those who are protesting take it quite seriously.

Your topic is innaccurate as much as your assumptions. Have a nice day.

Yeah, I have been holding out on supporting this "protest" because something just didn't seem right. I couldn't put my finger on it...until today. Then I read that Soros is backing this. I will NEVER align myself with that total scum bag. I wonder how much he paid in taxes last year since the only person that made more than him was Mark Zuckerberg.

That's the same reason I had for holding out on supporting the protests. I wasn't aware that Soros was backing it so that makes me even more positive that I will have nothing to do with them. He is pure evil and is definitely part of the agenda. I fear this is just a scam they're using for the agenda, just another form of disinformation to throw at the public. These protests won't change what's happening, if anything, it'll make things worse. Maybe this is their plan, to get a lot of people involved and then spread lies that people are turning violent so as to have a reason to call martial law? We already know they have thousands of militia-induced police guards in different states, supposedly for our protection, but really they're going to use them against us because they're instructed to destroy any threat to America and that includes its own citizens. It's all going downhill from here, we're so #ed. x.x

All i can say is LMAO. You Americans think that if you didn't import you could do it all yourselves and that if it ain't done your way, it's the highway...lmao...funny stuff. There is nothing more evil then absolutes such as these.

Imposing anything on nations would only have the same or worse imposed on you. Whatever happened to unification and cooperation? Oh right, that means everyone gets to have some...and we can't have that can we?

Why is it that everyone expects America to just give and give. In case anyone hasn't noticed, we're not the number one superpower and in all honesty, I never thought we were. All America does is hurt and destroy everything and I hate that that is how the rest of the world views us. I hate that our President is Obama and that he represents us for he is pure filth and I want nothing more than to get him out of office. But, even so, that'll just leave another puppet in his place. I think America needs to do exactly what kozmo said. Everything. I think we need to focus on our own country for once and stop trying to interfere with others. We can't fix anything unless our own land is secure. We're $14 trillion in debt thanks to Obama and it's not going to stop there. We can't help anybody else when our own economy and way of life is shrinking. Maybe it's selfish, but we need to help ourselves first.

I was trying like crazy to wipe the ignorance off my computer screen when I realized it was your post!

You do realize that the US was relatively self-sufficient for a couple of hundred years, right? And you do realize that just about everything having to do with modern manufacturing was developed in America, right? And you do realize that the world needs American MUCH more than America needs the world, right? And furthermore, what is painfully apparent is that you don't find it funny that America "Do it all yourselves and if it ain't done your way, it's the highway"... you are scared to death of the very idea! And what makes it so scary to you is that we CAN do it all ourselves and we will have it our way!

Whatever happened to unification and cooperation? Simple, it was coopted by the communists and us freedom loving Americans don't care for the flavor! You see, "unification and cooperation" came at the EXPENSE of Americans, not to the benefit of everyone, as you would like to pretend.

I have read a lot of your posts, neo96, and you just described yourself.

The mouth you feed bites your hand, you reach for another treat. There will come a day when you wish you had fought for something.

Nice play on words... one day you'll realize the boogie man you've been fighting was actually the good guy and you'll be so depressed to realize that your puppet master was actually the one you should have protested.

But - then again, "methinks thou dost protest too much"...
