The whole thing, everyone involved, seems surreal. People don't behave like that in real life, at least not around here.

I finally got my family to agree to drop cable a few months ago. I noticed it was brainwashing our family to act like clowns. My family has noticed a difference. We have antenna TV, but the TV isn't on like it used to be.

You can make comments like the one above all you want. But if they're not true, you just lose credibility.

And how much credibility do you think statements like this buy you?

I should have called for Halperin to be hanged in the town square for his racist comments...

Racist? I fail to see anything racist about Halperin's statement at all. Where is it racist?

Sometimes blind love and partisanship make people say stupid things...

This is exactly what I was going to say. This could have been a good thread. I know it's in Political Madness, but there was a chance to talk about what happened and what we thought of the comment and the truth of the comment, but no. People have to start slinging political bait and making assumptions and hurling insults "right" and "left".

And you, like others in this thread, are too quick to throw accusations around about derailing threads. Try going to the source of the 'insults' before you start throwing stones. Like Indigo5, for instance, the person who started the labeling.

Correct. Let's get a handle on How Obama's intervention policies differ from his predecessor.

In my opinion the "Obama Docterine" is..

In Middle East dictatorships...we will not invade/occupy unless the opression is on the scale of the Holocaust or that country attacks us.

We WILL support popular uprisings of civilian populations if they
(a)reach a critical mass where it is unquestionable that it is the majority's wish to be freed of that oppression.
(b)it is a genuine civilian uprising as opposed to a coordinated jihadist revolution to sieze power

That support will not involve putting our soldiers on the ground in harms way, invasion or occupation.

In Tunsenia we were able to offer support in words and policy. Ditto Egypt. In Libya...we armed that regime like we did Sadaam, it seems only fair that we should level the playing field for the average citizen to take back thier country.

Syria...messy...you have some civilian protests mixed with Jihadist military revolutionaries looking to sieze power.

The secular civilian population is afraid of the Jihadists taking power if the dictatorship falls, but they also want the dictatorship to end. If we go in and bomb the syrian military, the jihadists on the ground will move in and seize power.

At this stage the best policy is to lean on the Assad regime for reforms...the lesser of two evils. That or the syrian people need to organize and arm themselves to seize power from both Assad and the Jihadists looking to take power from him. If Assad doesn't make radical changes it will get bloody fast.

Why is it we cannot speak about our SERVANTS the way we choose, yet they can literally BEAT US INTO SUBMISSION if we disagree?

Living on this planet is like living on Splotres XII. There up is down, back is front, left is right, war is peace. I totally signed up to come here for a vacation. Obama is worse than a male appendage, he is like the smegma...

Whoa there cowboy....If you got somehting to say...

I used the Label "right winger" and the poster I used it with actually proudly owned it. No more insult in that phrase than "Liberal" or "progressive" unless you feel shame about your political views.

A little cowardly not to come at me directly.

What about Libya? There was no critical mass reached there.

Lets be more honest. There is no real difference in Obamas war criteria. If its someone who is playing economic ball with us, they can kill as many innocent civilians as they want, and if its someone NOT playing economic ball with the western economic interests, we will make up airstrikes in order to bomb them if we have to.

I wholey disagree and think a little research would support my view.

The Obama administration sat on the fence until literally Libyian generals defected to join the people in the revolution and organize.

You seem off base in you facts. no offense. Research it a bit

Tunesenia, Egypt, Libya......big US economic and strategic allies.

They all were eagerly playing ball with the US ...that is the very reason their dictatorships felt secure.

It is also the reason that Saudi Arabia and other middle east dictator allies have a slight WTF attitude with Pres. Obama.
It was always understand that the USA would stay out of it when they oppressed thier people. Silence for Oil.

Saudi Arabia and othe dictatorships remain relatively secure in that they still are enjoying decent economic times. Free healthcare, education, food subsidies. If the money runs out the people will revolt their as well.

I guess he didn't get the memo, he can't call Obama names.......it's racist. Just one more reason I'll be glad to see him gone. I knew the race card would be a factor anytime he was disagreed with or insulted and yup, it just keeps going.

Hard to throw the race card at me, it's a little difficult when the other person is black too.

Well, I suppose SOME people could feel that less than a thousand people were "critical mass" in a country of 6,419,925. But I dont.

Edit to add, and I would say, no offense as well, that you are taking things too superficially. Its not "silence for oil" we dont care what people do to their people unless it threatens the wests ability to extract resources and impose the central banking schemes.

We kept the house of Saud in place because they allowed us to do what we wanted, as long as they profited. Just like we have helped hold in place other of the "dictators" that are now being removed. The Saudis are all "wtf" because they see the writing on the wall. They see that other people who have played ball with us are being dispensed with when they are too cocky and start believing they are in charge, and they know they are in line.

I know a lot of people who are Obama fans totally believe we wage humanitarian wars, but we dont. Ive seen the same celebrities who were beside themselves when the Iraq war started totally justify what we are doing to Libya. All our wars are economic, ultimately. Depending on who the President is, you just label them differently for different consumers. Liberals have no problem bombing countries who have done nothing to us, if you tell them its for humanitarian reasons, and conservatives have no problem doing the same thing if you tell them they are boogeymen coming to get us.

Whoa there cowboy....If you got somehting to say...

Yeah I do have a lot to say and I said it...

You weren't about to man up and own up to the fact that you started the -wing derailing. And IAG and BH weren't about to be honest about it...it was too easy for them to lay it on me.

I used the Label "right winger" and the poster I used it with actually proudly owned it. No more insult in that phrase than "Liberal" or "progressive" unless you feel shame about your political views.

Whether or not you intended it as an insult is irrelevant. And your exact quote was

What if instead Halperin was speaking about Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann? and referred to her with the appropriate anatomy?

Would the right-wingers be laughing? Would Palin or Bachmann's campaign managers be as forgiving?

Hmmm...

So don't play that "the poster proudly owned it". You were all inclusive there, it's plainly obvious.

A little cowardly not to come at me directly.

Pfftt. Tell that to BH and IAG.

Oh, and where the hell is "Tunesenia"? I couldn't find it on any map....

The reason Obama is in Libya is oil. Qaddafi supplies Europe, and Obama wants to be best buddies with European socialists. We have no national security or humanitarian interests there. Too many other places where genocide is occurring that he ignores. Many potus' need a war as part of their "legacy". And he is willing to tear the Constitution apart to wage his little war.

He can't even wage a war correctly, the loser.

2012 is coming up. What's he gonna discuss as his achievements? Destroying the economy? Nope. He'll wave bin Laden and Qaddafi out there like a flag. He has no other cards to play.

I tend to think you have a point. Oil and banking. It seems to be awfully suspicious that we keep bombing countries WITH oil, and without the kind of central banking we seem intent on spreading around the world.

Obama has been a dick since the beginning. Who just now realized that?

I think it started when he was a senator and gave $100,000 dollars of his own money to buy arms that funded the Kenyan Genocide.

Oh? You never heard?

The dude that sat next to him while he apologized was creepy. Anyone else see that on The Daily Show?
It looked like TPTB made him apologize.
I think what happened was hilarious though. Good for him to call Obama a D. And I usually support Obama (mostly because he gets way too much $#!7) I don't really trust any politician, though.

Did someone said the "D---" word? How unfortunate but humorous! To my mind, the only person with that word as a first name was Cheney but I won't draw comparison to either persons.
