Sure you can, but a right-swinging Libertarian is not a Right-Winger which infers a solid allegiance to the core right wing of the spectrum.

there is this...

right wing
–noun
1.
members of a conservative or reactionary political party, or those opposing extensive political reform.
2.
such a political party or a group of such parties.
3.
that part of a political or social organization advocating a conservative or reactionary position: The union's right wing favored a moderate course of action.

Dictionary Source

or, maybe this...

In politics, Right, right-wing and rightist are generally used to describe support for preserving traditional social orders and hierarchies.

Source

and, finally there is this...

Right-libertarianism is a phrase some use to describe a variety of free market libertarian positions, sometimes to distinguish those positions from left-libertarian views. Some right libertarians choose to identify with the United States Republican Party, label themselves libertarian Republican, and affiliate with the Republican Liberty Caucus.

Now, can you see that it's not exactly black and white?

I just went on MSNBC.com to check the story and it's unbelievable the comments on that story. EVERYONE is calling Halperin a racist. I didn't realize calling someone a D*** was racist.

I just went there to check out your claim.

I did a key word search for racist and couldn't find a post among the 300+ post calling Halperin a racist...plenty of baiting though with stuff like this "if you dare blame Obama for it, you're a racist."

Posters are making racist (and mostly non-racist comments) about Pres. Obama, but please direct me to a post where someone call Halperin a racist for his comment.

world-news.newsvine.com...

Baiting...there and here in this thread.

Haha! The writer calls Palin a "douche-nozzle" and the reporter is worried the "forever 21" comment won't go over well with the 21 year olds. That was entertaining none-the-less.

Kenneth that is what we are upset about! The utter and total lack of respect for his position! This stems from subtle racism! We are sick of it and they will not be able to get away with that cr*p for much longer! Little do they know there are groups of us just waiting to vote out as many of the House as possible. Then and only then will he be able to get real work accomplished! Goodbye bad guys in 2012!

Sure. There can be and surely is a right wing of the Libertarian Party.

Just as there are Gay Republicans (Log Cabin Republicans)

I guess in the end if you want to identify yourself as a "Right Winger" and a Libertarian you are absolutely entitled to do so.

I see great distinction between the two in many ways, for example on social issues the philosopihies seem almost diametrically opposed between the contemporary right wing and Libertarians not being interested in legislating on social issues and the recently "evangelical" right making it a mainstay of their platform...but it is subjective to a degree and to each thier own.

Can anyone not see how fake this really was? He was goaded into thinking that his remark would be bleeped out.

If you read the comments on the story on MSNBC you can really see how dumb Americans really are. Name calling, Socialist this, racist that. Ugh. It literally leaves a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach to see how blinded people are to reality.

I mean NO disrespect to you when I say, Our Presidents, especially Bush and Obama are evil and have a sinister plan for America. Don't think he is fighting for you or me....lol.....he is fighting for him and them! Its such a put on show it isn't even funny.

I see these kinds of vague "them" "puppet" etc statements often, but never much to support the case.

In this example I am curious to know how him demanding the GOP consider higher taxes for the ultra wealthy and cease tax payer subsidies for oil companies serves some mysterious powers?

i would imagine the folks with the most Money/Power (the Koch brothers Oil+Billionaires) would be the ones most opposed to such a proposal?

What powers would be advantaged by this? The middle class? 98% percent of the American workers? Please explain.

Honestly don't get the thinking.

Refusing to answer questions about the Constitutionality of the bombing in Libya makes Obama a dickwad.

"idiot"??? Olberman?

Rush? Is there a number high enough in the english language for the number of times he has called the Pres. an idiot?

Again there is a reason no one cares about those comments. Lets look again at what you claimed and what I challenged you to find.

Now try this intellectual excercize....

What if instead Halperin was speaking about Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann? and referred to her with the appropriate anatomy?

Would the right-wingers be laughing? Would Palin or Bachmann's campaign managers be as forgiving?

Hmmm...

Your response:

If someone ever called Palin or Bachmann. . . . . .
Where have you BEEN for the past couple of years?!?!?!
That's ALL the progs refer to them as!
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Me

A link to newscaster saying the same about Palin or Bachmann with comparable vulgarity would suffice without violating T&C.

Waiting...

Still waiting..

I can't find anyy news person calling Palin/Bachmann a name like you would prefer.
www.google.com...
Above you'll find plety of t-shirts, bumper stickers.

Are you upset about the NAME being called?
Or
Who is calling the person a name?

To me that is splitting hairs, picking nits, and changing the narritive.

But, as a progressive, that's what you're programmed to do. But I don't hate the programmed, just the programmer.

Been fun playing.
Hve a nice day.

I'm not saying he's a hero or anything. I never have. But he's been trying to get the GOP to cooperate and compromise for the last 3 years, but they don't respond to kindness. So, he's toughening up.

Of course he doesn't answer every question put to him. What president ever has?

I LIKED what Obama did yesterday. He's been too much of a wimp and now he's standing up for what he wants and what he was elected to do. He's fighting for it. I LIKE it!

Oh, he has not! Whatever attempts he may have pretended were half-zzzzzd. He thumbs his nose at everyone and that nose up in the air makes him look like a petty dictator. Americans know he is not for them. The puppets of the NWO have increasingly been contemptuous of the People they are supposed to be serving. They are increasingly obvious about their plans, and they expect us all to be on board with it. Even Obama talked of the "World Order I think we all would like"!

Nope

I just asked for a little honest introspection and proposed if a Newscaster had said the same about Palin or Bachmann the far right would not be celebrating it, but rather going batpoop crazy.

As it stands, the lefts response to the comment is pretty muted with Pres. Obama's campaign manager even standing up for Halperin.

Just making some observations and it seemed like a fair example to excersize some objective, non partisan thinking.

What would have happened if a Newscaster called Palin or Bachmann the C word? How would the right wing media outlets and "right wingers" have reacted?

It is healthy to to think in new ways once in a while, but I get that people are uncomfortable doing it.

The topic was taxes and oil subsidies and how Pres. Obama's views on those could somehow favor the theoretical behind the scenes "powers that be".

I think you are confused.

Likely a ploy by MSNBC to get someone to watch them again.

Don't fall for it. Be worried about the CIA taking over DOD. More Obama Wars coming.

Again...how do you reconcile Pres. Obama arguing for tax increases on the ultra-wealthy and eliminating subsidies for oil companies, fighting for tax breaks for the middle class etc. with him being some "puppet" of the NWO?

Do you think these guys sit around diabolicaly petting their cats and say "I've got it!! Let's help the middle class and tax ourselves more!!! Then we will rule the world!!! Bwaahahaha"

Honestly...conspiracy? Fine, but shouldn't it make at least a lick of sense?
