Americans feel that a "post apocalyptic world" is somewhere near California...
Check out videos of Haiti after the quake! even today things there are a mess because of it, then come back and re-edit your post.

I used to go water skiing and fishing at Salton Sea with my grandaprents when I was a kid. It was kinda of a luxury vacation with pools, spas, casinos, restaurants. Great memories.

Recently I took a drive to Borrego Springs to see the late winter dessert flowers and took a ride accross the dessert the see the Salton Sea area. On the way through the dessert I came accross a breathtaking "bad land" area. It looks like a mini Grand Canyon, absolutley beatiful. Salton Sea on the other hand looked like a war zone, chain linked fences blocking the entire community, or what used to a community. There was an air of death and a kind of haunting evil. I would suppose there are more than a few bodies in that water, maybe Jimmy Hoffa.

Really? Can you maybe quote just one American who "feels a post apocalyptic world is somewhere near California?"

This American feels like he just watched and interesting video about what a post apocalyptic world may look like one day soon. So how about you re-editing your post.

I visited the Salton Sea about 15 years ago for the day. Honestly, I didn't even realize it was there, it's not talked about. It is breathtaking in it's size. Looking from one end to the other, it's like looking at the ocean. It is so large. When we pulled off the highway, there was just one little store there by the lake. There was maybe one fisherman in view, otherwise eerily silent. The water is so salty, only one fish lives in it they told us in the store. Boats hulls would be ruined if left for long in the water. And like the video, Old 50's building and signs are strewn about amongst the shacks here and there. It was a creepy place, but interesting!

What happen here or happens in the future has nothing to do with any GOD"S,it has everything to do with a parsitic spicies that does not have the "will" to change and only feeds it greed and personal needs.

Fukushima and the Gulf of Mexico are just the begenning of what we as a spicies are capable of and the limit of our ability to repair or fix our mistakes. We build and create monsters of apocalypse with no idea how to stop them when they fail. What kind of spicies does this with no fear of the repercussions of our actions??

This is only a pin prick of what we have done to this planet and only a pin head of what is still to come.

Just my opinion.

awesome video. That is some really really eerie looking sites.

The one scene with all those dead fish

and that guy...he lives out there...I wonder if he lives off the land...probably not. I suppose he gets alot of visitors; at least I hope. It's amazing he's survived out there alone for so long.

S+F for this one. thanks OP'er

Hauntingly beautiful video.
A good reminder that we are
not in charge. Mother nature
always has more in store
for us than we can imagine.

I have been there about two years ago even took some pics with my two homies we road our dirt bikes from ocotia wells and ended up there. Of coarse I dont have the pictures anymore I took them on an old phone thats long gone.. Anyways their were a ton of dead fish bones alll around the shore line and it smelled like stinky ass fish and the entire town it was in was just old and ghostly looking like everyone just up and left except for a few of the hills have eyes people

Just a little off topic, but at 1:55 the woman on the right looks like Jackie Kennedy. Is that her or maybe an actress made to look like her for the commercial?

Probably nothing but it made me look twice.
