Regardless of talk about the US's interests....the man is killing his own people, he became ' ruler ' by undemocratic means, he milks his country of wealth that should be shared with his people, he IS a terrorist himself, and as far as his grandchildren? Any grandfather worth his salt would have had precious family members sent far away from sites of conflict.
He deserves anything thrown at him.
End of rant. ( and I never mentioned Lockerbie..)

I had no idea that even New Zealand hated America. We are begged to help, this war is still very speculative.

Vicky,
We (the US) it seems simply won't be happy until we plunder all of the worlds resources, and that includes other peoples minds I guess.
You know, I did my 20 in the service, and because of that, when people are around me, they automatically assume that I gratuitously approve of everything the Military machine here does. But, I will say this, when I first went in, in '83, let me tell you, there WAS honor on that battlefield....now, the honor seems to be being guided by number of friend tags on facebook.....maybe Ghaddafi simply needs to logon more and he would be ok.
Oh yea, and his kids and grandkids would still be alive.edit on 1-5-2011 by alphabetaone because: (no reason given)
U.S. foreign aid has a variety of goals. Among them, lifting people out of poverty, promoting democracy and economic stability worldwide, and bolstering strategic alliances. According to the government’s user-friendly Web site, www.foreignassistance.gov, Uncle Sam doles out “more than $58 billion a year in foreign assistance through more than 20 agencies.” More than half of that, roughly $37 billion, is managed by the State Department and USAID.

HA! Good. I like it. Drinking one for NATO! Our celestial ministers of death are closing in on Gaddafi, he wanted to fight to the death and he'll get it.edit on 1-5-2011 by JohnnyWarbucks because: (no reason given)
If he waved a white flag do you think we should still kill him?
Not officially. We could accept his exile along with his family and then his plane accidentally crashes killing all on board. However given the current circumstances it's highly probable he'll die by an air strike. He's the one that decided to open fire and kill his own people. He also authorized the use of cluster munitions into residential neighborhoods.edit on 1-5-2011 by JohnnyWarbucks because: (no reason given)

Ah well, next time they might just get Gadaffi. I don't see why Nato are waiting so long and using so many resources trying to "legally" make this silly man leave and yet more and more of the Libyan citizens are being slaughtered.

This is what pisses me off about these "operations" ... #1 , I don't agree with Gaddafi's family being killed... but I do understand WHY it was done. I'm not a fan of "collateral damage" or civilian casualties , I'm not an "End justifies the means" guy either... that being said here's the game, that everyone plays but nobody talks about.
Why don't we just assasinate him? the quick and easy is , we're not allowed to.... BUT , If he just HAPPENS to be in a building that we drop a Paveway into or put a tomahawk through the front door of and by chance he were to sustain injuries that were incompatible with life during said Raytheon induced explosion... we can always say... "Oops, we didn't know he was there with his family, or the HUMINT we received did not place him there at that time" Plausible deniability.
Not that I agree with it, but if its gotta be done, do it old school... a Single 160gr Boat tail in the T... put the word out there... If you play games..... we will kill you. No need for all of the civilian casualties, and damaged infrastructure.. BUT that'll never happen... Because that boat tail costs $1.87 and your average price of a Tomahawk is $1,000,000 (Give or take $400,000 depending on model) ... The military industrial complex won't run if we don't use up our weapons silly So far we've used up about $130,000,000 worth of Raytheon's Finest in this "non war". Maybe that and the AWESOME TAX BREAKS THEY GET will keep Raytheon, GE, General Dynamics, Northrop and the rest of the weapons manufacturers in the black until armageddon.
Don't forget, In times of peace, these guys make less money... we can only store so many weapons and show so many on paper during each fiscal year... If the Pentagon doesn't spend all of their money, defense spending would get reduced...Use it or lose it. So.... During times we are not actually at war, we'll be in operations somewhere , fighting a war on something... dropping bombs on poor people. I wonder when the CEO's watch the footage on CNN if they hear the Cha-Ching!! , of a cash register everytime they see an explosion?
