It's hard to give a blanket answer to that.
For things like censor circumvention and abusive remarks, I'll usually edit and leave a mod note. But some mods don't use those mod notes. It's
The tone of the post also plays a part in the severity of the mod action.
If it's a new member, a u2u is also in order so they know about the rule.
If it's several words or phrases throughout the post, it can and should be totally removed.
And, even though a post may look like it's only edited, members can still receive WARNS....you'll remember those red flags? Well, with the new
version of ATS we lost the flags but not the warn that went with them. We still issue them when warranted.
