The problem is that a lot of poorer countries than India has better sanitary system. There must be something so called "fatalism" mentioned by another member in ATS at work.

Why do you have to clean your environment if you are going to die in poverty anyway? Nothing you do will change anything about your life or your family. You will never become a member of the Brahman class. You are born to be a slave. Sounds familiar?

Sounds pretty much the same as the way the blacks have been brainwashed in the US history.

What on earth are you talking about?

It's hard looking at pictures like that knowing the country has made huge strides in technology and other sciences just to have a large population within it to live without proper home plumbing and a modern sewer/drainage infrastructure.

India is not a world power and you seem to mistake gigantism with strength. Even India's enormous armed forces seems to be manned by old men only able to stand on their two feet while leaning against something. These old men in uniform are in fact young and illiterate villagers with collapsed digestive systems driven into the Indian armed forces out of desperation.

It is true that India has many wonderful things like pleasant and very intelligent people, a successful space programme, many millions of millionaires, a huge high tech centres, a terrific film industry and a great history. India also has more that half a billion impoverished and desperate people, an odious caste system, poor public hygiene, primitive infrastructure and zero civic pride.

How can anyone have pride in a country that allows bloated corpses to float in a city river and what the hell is that mine field of human turds; can't they dig a hole far away from a river where people are bathing and have their sh+t there?

I have no favoritism about the Indian culture. They are pretty much stuck with their religion Hindu and there is not much you can do about it.

Err first of all the religion is called 'Hinduism' not Hindu. Hindus are the ones that follow Hinduism. It is the largest religion in India but the followers of other religions like Christianity, Islam etc are large enough to fill several European countries.

They have to overcome their caste system to become an advanced member of the humanity. They are behind, far behind in their cultural maturity.

What???? The majority of educated Indians don't follow the caste system anymore. In fact the caste system is in its death throes and is rigidly followed only in small parts of rural India.

And please explain what 'cultural maturity' is? If gorging on Big Macs and annexing countries for oil is called 'cultural maturity' then I'm at a loss for words.

One example for this is that they have no respect for the human labor in terms of paying for the gratitude for the service being provided to them. This is from even someone who has lived in the US for a long time. This shows the lack of respect for the culture of the country that they live in.

I'll agree with you there. That's one of many problems India faces. The wages paid to people here are well below what they should actually be earning.

I feel sorry for them. And that's why they are discriminated in this country because of this kind of their callous attitude. They are treated pretty much the same as the underprivileged African Americans living in the US by the average citizens.

No need to feel sorry for us. We are good people and it's just unfortunate that we're ruled by a corrupt government who take advantage of uneducated and timid people. Usually the Indians that do go abroad to other countries come from middle to upper class families and unfortunately a lot of them tend to be arrogant and obnoxious (although that's not always the case).

Anyway if you or anyone else do come to India for a while you'll find that things are very different as compared to what you imagine.

It may be nasty, but it's not where I live, or, would ever want to. Saw the NatGeo channel a few days ago about "kids born in the brothels" in Calcutta. Nasty conditions as well, but I've seen some pretty bad stuff right here in the USA. Won't ever change until the people that live there want it to change. Europe, Mideast, Africa.........They will not change unless they want to themselves. Not very good leadership is my guess. I'm only 58 years old, and from what I've seen during my ventures around the globe, is that every place has extraordinary beauty, and at the same time unimaginable ugliness just around the corner. I feel blessed to live in the USA.

No lets be clear here I said India sees itself as a world power I didn't say what I thought they were in regards to their international standing.

I personally wouldn't know about their military but seems to me they wouldn't be able to have a technological industry or anything else if everybody was illierate and sick. If all I've read concerning India is true then they have a severly imbalanced to say the least system. Imbalanced because all of India is not in the so-called modern age, it just seems some steps were left out of their moving from point A to point D

I've read about India having the problems you've mentioned but if all is true they didn't make their technological climb for all to benefit therefore all of India is not on the same level so to speak which would explain the graphic photos. Only part of the nation is in the 21st century.

There are parts of India that are very poor, and yes there is a lot of the country that is still developing. However there is a lot of beauty in India too. Some of the people may be bathing in dirt and not a rupee to their name, but I guarantee they are some of the warmest and most loving people you will ever meet. I say give India 10 to 20 years, see where they are then, I bet they are going to be a major player in the world economy. The youth are all very well educated, most people are ending up with masters and PHDs. India as a whole is on the up.

Actually it just sounds to me people need to learn to treat people the way they would like to be treated and stop looking for justification to mistreat others.

You may have to see yourself from the typical view point of the US citizen. I think Indians still haven't completely get themselves over the influence of the Caste system. It's in your blood no matter how much you would want to deny it. If you are born in Europe you will be pretty much a Christian in your blood even though you may not attend Church at all. Pretty much the same way if you are a born Indian and/or raised by Indian family you are pretty much a Hindu in your blood. It is a very backward religion to say the least.

I do not have pleasant experience with any (Asian)Indians to tell you the truth. They are twisted in their mental attitude in one way another. Never straight honest. I do not want to blame the people themselves. I blame the religion that taught them that way. If you have read any of my posts regarding Islam, you would know my position why religion is so important in shaping the people the way they are.

"The cause of Indian’s poverty comes from its economic policy. After its independence in 1947, India has been led by the charismatic leader Nehru for 17 years to create a socialist economy, which includes three basic features: central planning, self-sufficiency (removing international trade) and government-ownership of industrial enterprises. All of these are against the economic principle of free markets. "

www.junlinghu.com...

The poor population is getting an increase more than average, in India, a lot of people that are successful also leave the country, which is bad. Reasons India cannot keep going on is because of politics, religion, infrastructure etc.

It really sad that some of its places are filthy and dirty. It is also very crowded with a billion people crammed into India.I certainly would'nt live there in the state it is currently in and i'am sure many people would'nt. they really need to do something about this place, but little will change in the years to come.

It is easy to cringe and gasp when looking at this lifestyle. On the other hand I am constantly reminded when travelling to third world countries and places like this that the modern world has lost the ability to exist without the "Comforts" that we take advantage of and take for granted everyday. Yes its disgusting to see someone bathing and brushing their teeth in the same body of water as the floating corpse, but if our way of life as we know it goes south due to a natural disaster, collapsing economy, or other threat, this is the way of life we will be forced to adapt to as we won't have all the "extras" that we have. I am reluctant to assume we will all be able to adapt and survive in such a case. I for one will have a hard time wiping my ass with my left finger, burning feces, washing clothing next to rotting corpses and finding water to drink and brush with, all the while providing for my family.

The Indians have shown us here that they have adapted and in a sense evolved in a way the west may not view as evolving, but I think biologically they are able to withstand the microbial infestations of their environment. Take a westerner and place them in such an environment and they will be sick within a week. I have seen it hundreds of times over and experienced personally the effects of such an environment.

Good find!

Roger that. I guess thats why the SURVIVOR shows are/were popular on TV including 'Man Vs Wild'. Wonder what the civilized west would do if hit by a major catastrophe (like katrina) or the tsunami that hit indonesia?

Indeed. Well some Americans are living in the sewers on the west coast... but still, in the sewers of a US city is better than living by the Gange River.

But I bet you could take this kind of pics in China too, and in a lot of countries in Africa...

But India is worshiping cow's dung... I mean... come on now.
Nothing against that belief... it's just that it's hard to be clean when you worship cows...

They should open a few Steak Houses, that could lighten the mood.

I mean if they want to live like that... go for it... freedom baby!

I'm sure the indians are saying the same things i.e "But they are eating cow's parts...I mean...come on now"...about other cultures when they see them eat ALL the body parts of a cow
including the penis, testicles, anus (sorry had to use biological words instead of slangs) of a cow .

Yep... if a CME hits earth... it wouldn't be long before the western world turns to cannibalism... and ends up worse than India.... no electricity... no cars... no food in the grocery stores...

Wouldn't be long before people would go crazy, commit suicide, ect... India would be a first nation compared to America's big cities 3 months post-CME.

Remember Katrina? Yeah... worse than that... and for one year, two years... all around Europe and the US...

A zombie apocalypse would be almost better...

Couldn't agree with you more on this. Ever seen Bizarre Foods on Travel Channel? Some things that are weird or taboo to some cultures is another culture's delicacy
Needless to say thats what makes the world an interesting place. We certainly do not want the same culture to exist globally or else i'll be boring or be like some futuristic robotic race.

Well I was born and raised a Catholic. My parents are catholic and I come from a part of India which is predominantly christian/catholic. (I'm atheist now but that's besides the point)

What I'm trying to say is that there's no hard and fast rule that says just because you come from India you're automatically Hindu. And by the way the 'typical view point' of a US citizen on just about any country is so detached from reality that it's laughable.

Hinduism is a backward religion? Tell me something new. ALL religions are basically backward in nature. They're all about control so how does it matter if a person is Christian/Hindu/Muslim etc. It's all the same.

And what do you mean Indians haven't got over the caste system? You really need to get over here and take a look for yourself. You'd be laughed at with statements like that.

I get where you're coming from but it works both ways. I've rarely had pleasant experiences with Americans either. Most of the ones I've met are highly ignorant, rude, have a superiority complex or are just plain dumb. I'm sure not all American's are that way. Similarly not all Indians are like what you've mentioned. Nothing to do with religion. It's just the way some people are. There are good people and not so good people in every country.

You can never become better than what you worship. That's the fundamental priciple of the "worshipping" business. That's another reason Bible prohibits worshipping idol. So, it is very important to know what(who) you are worshipping. It is a matter of life and death in some serious situations. If you worship devil, you will become a devil and no more.

That means if you worship cow, you can never become better than cow. As a matter of fact, cow would care less if the whole grass field is filled with their own feces.

It seems like the people who worship cow also don't care about their own feces spread all over.

Is this a coincidence?

I think what happens is people get this Romanticism view of foreign lands and people and when they get slighted reality hits them. People are the same no matter where you go or who you meet. There is honest and dishonest people in every race, nation, and religion.
