An awful lot of Anthropomorphism in this thread, beginning with the source.
Aliens would be exactly that. Morality isn't even a constant across our own species. Good and evil are contextual.
Putting that aside..
The simplest answer. I have no idea what would happen.
I suspect however a space faring race would naturally look towards the densest areas of the galaxy first and the Milky Way is rather large.
I personally hope for E.T. but suspect we will get The Hunters of the Dawn...if we ever become more than a bunch of overly violent hairless apes.

This is nothing new,I have been looking into ufo's,and aliens, according to some we have had contact, since the 40's,and a deal was struck, they would give us some technology in exchange that we"TPTB"keep there presents secret, allow them to abduct some of our citizens for medical research purposes given that the release them back where they got them from unharmed and with no knowledge of the abduction, and suply a list of the people, they where caught braking the treaty around 1983 this is when TPTB realized that they where taking thousands more not giving a compleat list, useing some of us for "food"and putting implants in other for reasons we dont know,we do share underground bases with them, but they have taken over some as well, research the base in DULCE,NM,where 66 people were killed by the greys during a rescue mission of some of our scientist,I know it sounds crazy, but do the research and draw your own conclusions.Supposedly they were the ones that are influencing NWO types to enslave our race.just something to ponder.

these 66 who were killed...that's phil scneiders story.... who claims he was there to work with explosives, not rescuing any scientists. He claims he went into the ground to see what was breaking the equipment they were using, went and saw aliens and fired upon them PRIOR to being shot at.

When I heard his story I felt sorry for the guy, but the simple fact is anyone who is going on that story can't claim it was to rescue anyone and can't deny the fact that the only witness who will speak of it has no direct proof and claims to have fired the first shot.

Like I said, I felt sorry for the guy and I even find his story somewhat believable but it says nothing about whether or not aliens are solely out to get us. The rest of the stuff he says that does not pertain to that particular day that left him wounded and grieving his comrads, are things he put together by himself based on what he could dig up. I give him credit for that but his one encounter has to be looked at objectively and these claims he makes about things he has found after that day cannot be accepted as all negative simply because he says so. He was angry and grieving. If he found that someone has been extracting things from humans for consumption and he did not see it and he cannot prove, who is to say it was not isolated? Who is to say humans do not also do these types of things... because they do? Does that makes us all bad? He was not some person who was in constant contact with multiple species of aliens on a regular basis. You have to let your mind turn over all possibilities because you make any conclusions.

I want to believe they are not malevolent, but that does not mean I claim to have proof at all.
I can't claim to know for sure what they want, but if you look around the world today you will see atrocity after atrocity committed by mankind but not one shred of hard proof that aliens (who are thought to have technology that we could not compete with if they wanted to eliminate us) have done any of these things. Only allegations and vague evidence. If you mean to condemn an entire race of beings based on this information alone... I seriously question your method of arriving at the truth and being able to claim anything as though it is definite.

Study: If Aliens Exist, They Probably Want To Destroy Us

www.csmonitor.com

When considering the prospect of alien life, humankind should prepare for the worst, according to a new study: Either we're alone, or any aliens out there are acquisitive and resource-hungry, just like us.

These two unpalatable options are pretty much the only possibilities....

British scientist Simon Conway Morris believes there are only two possibilities for alien life; either we're alone or aliens exist, and they are out to get us.
(visit the link for the full news article)

I agree that if aliens discovered us they would probably wipe us out after a few hours.

Dear burntheships

H G Wells nearly had it right back all that time ago.

Sorry Hollywood has it all A** about T** as usual.

If the aliens want us dead it will be by a virus attack.

You or I will not see them coming, we will just wakeup dead one day.

If aliens ever did show up here, and if they are even remotely similar in mindset and self-righteous egotistical arrogance as all you Earth humans are, they will quickly recognized that they are the more superior species here and, like humans do, make quick lunch of these lower lifeforms. Yup, that would be so cool to see humanity turned into lunch for a bunch of superior space faring lizards, ha, I'd even pay to see that. Don't bother MOOOOing, lol, resistance is futile.

Absolutely. Fear mongering and propaganda programming (though if Star Wars/Trek have anything to say about this topic-those types of aliens do exist, but so do the good ones.)

I wonder if intelligence has anything to do with morality. There are brilliant criminals and sociopaths, and very kind and generous retarded people. If anything, smarter generally makes arrogant.

I'm inclined to think "Visitors" as the smarter, arrogant and unsympathetic. Maybe earthlings still believe compassion is higher evolution because we're retarded by comparison. Jus' sayin'

Possibly. But no ancient texts describe an end like that, even the ones that usually 'get it right' and are particularly graphic about it.

I highly agree, and would be happy to engage in discussion.

I have alluded to such as my opinions. I love links -

just think about it ...who said all aliens would feel the same way about us?

yeah... I'd be happy to engage in discussion with black military operatives as well.... and I'm sure everyone in here has had that chance and done so and this is what they are basing their info on.

Bah, if aliens are not like us, then the possibility that they do not have any "emotional intelligence" has to be taken into account. For all you know emotion is inherently an Earth-based evolutionary trait, much more rare on extra-terrestrial worlds.

So now we have an alien with no "empathy" who just seeks knowlege perhaps; at all costs.

Even then, if aliens are like us; what makes you think that higher technological advancement = less warmongering? Let me tell you something: Most of the technology we have NOW has been the result of war.

parralell that idea.

I would have to agree with you on that point. If, and it is an if, an alien force decided, for whatever reason, to destroy humanity and take the planet for themselves, I believe they would use bio weapons, targeted to wipe out humans. Or, if they just want the resourses and they are light years ahead of us, they could simply ignore us and take what they want.

Personally, if I wanted to occupy someone elses territory without a face-to-face confrontation, I would simply contaminate the atmosphere or water and watch the enemy die. Why waste valuable hardware when nano or germ warfare can do it for you on the cheap? Plus, everything else stays totally intact.

Dear TheLoneArcher

Yes as ET if I come across a planet that has for the want of a better word has Dilithium but also has a war like population. I would concoct a weapon that was light cheap and easy to use taking out the said population. Then come back in a few years when the pestilence has died off and go about my business.

However it makes a very boring film plot.

If Aliens wanted us dead they would have already pulled the trigger, we have been raping Earth of it's natural resources for thousands of years, If they were after those they would have surely destroyed us before we had used most of them.

I would rather take the view that yes there are other worlds which harbor life of some kind, but at most these species would be a similar technological stage as we were, or that Earth was born out of such luck that they are simple single cell organisms on planets which lack the environmental variety that we have here on Earth.

if aliens openly arrive here, i don't necessarily believe they'll be particularly peaceful. much of our technological advancement has been driven by war (or porn). our technology has outpaced our morality. perhaps waging war is to them what hunting is to some of us.

If aliens exist, and if they are advanced more than we are, they could have arrived long ago.

My belief is that aliens would hesitate to land here, because we shoot first and ask questions later.

Has anyone stopped to think that aliens are not more advanced? And that they might want to unite with us but cannot because this is what aliens have seen - humans destroy each other and their environment.

Would you want to meet humans? I think humans might be the most destructive creatures in the universe.

I don't know... I have dreamt up some really scary realities. Humans are scary, but we have a few redeeming qualities. This is also a lovely planet.

If aliens want to unite with us but can't because some of us don't react according to what's right but rather what's easier or more seemingly beneficial for ourselves from the start then that is a terrible shame. What if they could benefit us and keep us from spiraling into our negative human behaviors? What if this test of morality is an important process in progression of human kind? What if it's really important and the issues of territory and ownership cause it to shamefully turn into utter chaos? I would rather it be stupidity to ruin the day than greed. Maybe God will have pity on stupidity.

This guy is technically 100% correct!

Its a cheap way of getting technicality points from the scientific community, but correct none the less.

Somewhere out there, deep into the void, an alien race would want to destroy us.

The good thing is, there are probably so many alien races out there covering the universe, the ones near us and who know about us haven't been inclined to do this yet. (Because it would already have happened as stated by someone earlier)
