No, 9/11 was not a declaration of war against the U.S. by the Islamic faith. It was a crime committed by a few dozen (perhaps) men.

But your thinking so probably explains a lot. Are there others like you?

Do you also think that the U.S. responded with a declaration of war on the Islamic faith?

What about churches near the oklahama city bombing?

What about the churches? Timothy McVeighs' misguidedness was a product of the military.

BTW, there are probably more Christians working for the FBI than not so churches can't be blamed for what happened in Oklahoma.

While it's true that there are some people who claim to be Christians are criminally-minded psychopaths, what is taught in many chuches, not all of them, is not what the actions Timothy McVeigh displayed in OK City.

Besides, many of the churches that are there now was more than likely there before the bombing.

If the Islamic community is serious about mending fences, then they should honor the innocent people killed on 11 SEP 01 by building a memorial for them and condemning the perpetrators of the attack on the WTC.

That's disgusting. Minority rights are not decided by majority rule.

The Oklahoma City bombing wasn't a declaration of war by the Islamic faith against the USA like 9/11 was.

Ah, equating muslims with extremists.
Classic fear mongering.

The 9/11 attacks were not a declaration of war against America by the Islamic faith. I am amazed that people are still buying this crap. The attacks were a declaration of war by Osama bin Laden (if one believes the official story). OBL is not an Islamic scholar or cleric; he therefore has absolutely no authority to issue fatwas or speak on behalf of Islam.

King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia issued a decree stating that only senior clerics are permitted to issue fatwas, or Islamic religious edicts, the official SPA news agency said.

( referring to my post that 68 % of Americans are against this mosque's location, I said that was democracy in action and thus is just and fair because it is the law of our land.)

Then who decides the rights of minorities? The minorities themselves.. How is that fair?

Awesome if true.

Just go build it some where away from Ground Zero and no one will care, well I guess some people might but you get the idea.
And to people saying "but what about the churches and/or any other religious site close to Ground Zero!?" Easy answer, it was muslims that attacked us and declared war.

You're right, 9/11 wasn't the declaration of war against the U.S. by Islam. That declaration had been made in the years prior :

On that basis, and in compliance with Allah's order, we issue the following fatwa to all Muslims:

The ruling to kill the Americans and their allies -- civilians and military -- is an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it, in order to liberate the al-Aqsa Mosque and the holy mosque [Mecca] from their grip, and in order for their armies to move out of all the lands of Islam, defeated and unable to threaten any Muslim. This is in accordance with the words of Almighty Allah, "and fight the pagans all together as they fight you all together," and "fight them until there is no more tumult or oppression, and there prevail justice and faith in Allah."

Unfortunately this will not end unless Islam is completely crushed. The vast majority of muslims support these actions. Don't be fooled for a second about them being "peaceful". They WILL lie to you, and they believe they are superior and will rule this planet with their cult.

So yes, no matter what our own Government would like us to believe, it IS a war on Islam, and it's one that we cannot afford to ever lose.

Once again, who gave bin Laden the authority to issue fatwas? I didn't know he was a cleric.

Edit "the vast majority of Muslims..." Really? Who polled 1 billion people? How did they poll 1 billion people? That's incredible.

Another factor in the apparent climbdown is a lack of funds to pay for construction of the center, estimated to cost a hundred million dollars. Backers hope moving it will lead to a wave of support, accompanied by cash donations.

No backing, no funds.

What difference does it make? He spoke on behalf of a global islamic organization.

Wiki:

In 1998, Osama bin Laden and Ayman al-Zawahiri co-signed a fatwa in the name of the World Islamic Front for Jihad Against Jews and Crusaders

Actually, anyone can issue fatwas. even non-Muslims can issue them. Nobody - literally nobody - is requires to adhere to a fatwah.

Well, except in a case like Iran, where the Supreme Leaders' fatwahs carry legal weight, I guess.

Osama bin Laden can issue as many Fatwahs as he likes. So can you, too. it's quite entertaining. So far I have declared that January is Paisley keffiyeh month, that Hosni Mubarak is a douche, and that sausage pizza is halal after all.

Oh boy, I didn't know Osama bin laden represented all muslims.

Let's see what you've said about muslims simply due to ONE MANs words.
Islam will not stop unless it is "crushed"
Muslims automatically lie and support terrorists.

I guess the christians who kill abortionists represent all christians and it's an ultimate christian plot to bomb and destroy abortionist buildings and doctors.

The sources I looked at confrim what you say. Clerics want to limit the ability of just anyone issuing fatwas though.

Found this interesting, since there are still some fools who think that all Muslims revered bin Laden and hate the West.

ON THE eve of the anniversary of mainland Europe’s bloodiest terrorist attack, the Spanish Islamic Commission issued a fatwa yesterday against Osama bin Laden, the al-Qaeda leader.

The commission, a government-backed umbrella group of Islamic associations, made the announcement as Spain prepared to mark the first anniversary today of the Madrid trains massacre with a five-minute silence to remember the victims.

Senate majority leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has now broken with obama and come out against building a mosque near ground zero.

source

WASHINGTON — The Senate's top Democrat says a mosque should not be built near the site of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada on Monday became the highest profile Democrat to break with President Barack Obama, who on Friday backed the right for the developers to build a mosque near ground zero.
In a statement, Reid said the first amendment protects freedom of religion and he respects that, but the mosque should be built somewhere else.

Perhaps this is just political expediency as Reid tries to get himself re-elected, or maybe he really thinks this is the right thing to do. Either way, this is one position I appreciate that Reid has taken.

Yes really. Watch ISLAM: What the west needs to know to get a view from the former muslims, they tell it exactly how it is. How in front of Americans they acted sympathetic, yet once back in their little muslim enclaves they celebrated.

Who polled 1 billion people? How did they poll 1 billion people? That's incredible

Their silence on the matter was and is deafening. Their continued actions speak for themselves. While they may change tactics, the goal remains the same.

Do NOT allow yourself to be fooled. Open your eyes.

Ah, so the fact that they DIDNT poll 1 billion people means that they're obviously supporting the actions, I love the bias.

My god, nobody has polled every single christian about killing abortionists and bombing clinics, they MUST be in favor of it since they aren't talking!
