Totally agree.

To everyone else, the 11 people who died were probably fried and I would say the sharks did the rest.

You aint gonna see arms legs and heads floating by the camera.

Stop looking for hysterical things please.

I have read back over the posts I have missed and haven't seen an answer about this. Anyone have any idea what this stuff is that is now coming out of the side of the BOP?

It's fine. It's hydraulic fluid.

They are about to remove the control pod.

Stop panicking.

Excuse me? I haven't panicked once! Back off buddy.

Since when does asking a question in a rational manner constitute panicking?

You misread, buddy.

I replied with "Totally agree".
The rest of the post was for everyone else.

Sorry you misread.

I think you need to go back and reread how you posted and to whom. That said, I thank you for the answer of "it's hydraulic fluid" if that is correct. I does look like it is. I thought there was a new dispersant being used.

Now, on to the rest of the evening.

If you had clicked on the "reply to post" link, you would have seen what post I was referring to, and yes I was agreeing with you.
I don't see no bodies, just gunk.

Wanna shake on it now, and move on?

We shall agree to disagree on how it was worded, and let it go at that.

Already moved on in my previous post and even thanked you for your answer.

just want to apologise for thistles rather blunt and pompous attitude.

being a fellow scot i can appreciate not everyone understands us.

This is a discussion forum... so please keep the discussion going. i would encourage you to ignore his calls to stop panicking and reduce the hysteria, because as far a i can tell there has been none.

I appreciate his apparent knowledge but disregard his bullying attitude and put it down to being Scottish.

sorry for going off topic.. just want to keep topics running.. not dismiss them.

regards Tim

Everything's all good. No need to apologize from ANYONE.

It does get hard sometimes answering things like OMG that is a ufo, etc. so I know where the harshness comes from.

Thawker is right, I am Scottish, dunno about the bully though.

Beer all round for everyone!

Back on topic, I've been following the CDP2 Pile installation all day (Boa Deep Sea ROV 1) and it's starting to look interesting. Just been told the CDP is an anchor for the floating risers?

An anchor? Why all the fixtures on top then? Anyone help?

More than likely they are there to connect things to, and then to hold them in place, as an anchor would. I am not positive since I am not a petroleum engineer, but that would be my guess.

looking at the state of the water .. the pollution must have detrimental affect on the rov. ... tong in cheek.

I am also concerned that bp is drilling two relief wells but have slowed the second wells pace.

relief well slide bp tec update

note that the second well has stopped on the vertical.. in a recent tec update kent ignored questions as to whether they would use the second relief well to create a new permanent well after the broken one is killed.

would they be allowed to do this??

I think it would be better to ask, what haven't they been allowed to do?

Lot's of people whose opinions I respect as far as this situation is concerned have said that they thought the second well would be the permanent open well used for retrieval of the oil. I tend to concur, but I guess we shall have to wait and see.

Yep, looks like a floating riser or 2 will be attached.

Right now, they are removing water from it, which is why the ROV exhaust seems to look like an old diesel engine.
As they suck the water out, the seabed will be sucked up, forcing the unit into the seabed. Kinda like a vacuum.

Man there's some great common-sense science going on here.

Keeping an eye on it to see how far down it goes. It's already beginning to work as it is kicking up some seabed.

No need for 2nd relief well as the 1st effort will strike gold, and if you look at the new containment cap which they will lower onto the bop, they should be pretty much airtight.

Looks like I was right about the riser section of the BOP, it will be removed (where the green hydralic RAMS were placed yesterday. The new cap aint nothing like the top-hat. It's a massive structure.

They are getting on top of the situation now I feel.

If they do go ahead and take advantage of the Macondo well, I believe the US will enforce some sort of caveat.
