The crater is really setting off some steam now... perhaps new swathe of lava has found its way down?

Plus, when the sun is just right you can see the glacial blue colour of the ice in the new crater
(either that or it's my pain meds).

Puterman - they've got me on anti-b's and if they don't work they've threatened hospital

Thanks for advice

Can't sleep - it's 3.30am Sat night and I'm sleeping on sofa cos cough annoys hubby lol which means I get to doze off while watching Eyja.. she's pouring out much more steam from new crater now - and belchhing black ash up top - could be in for some good action today.

I wonder why the steam vent to the far left of the glacier (dark patch there now) isn't still going...

Berkeleygal - I'm definitely all woman

Lovely orange tinge to the Vala cam plume this morning and, judging from the outlines becoming visible on the Voda cams the glacial crater is really steaming ferociously this morning, too

Sweet jesus - just clocked the Hvolsvelli cam - masses of activity and she's really chucking out some hot stuff!

vodafone feed will give us a better idea where the new vent is soon.

I am starting to wondering if it's actually not two new vents.
A second one a bit to the left where it glows up and a smaller one a bit further on the left of that one. This is on the Hvol com
On the Valahnuk the "possible" two new vents are on the right of the old one. On this cam it realy gives the feeling we are looking at three different vents.

Valahnuk cam has also been turned a bit since one or two days to have the first vent in the middle of the cam I think.

Yes, the glacial vent appears to be expanding downhill - it's now a long "chasm" almost with steam venting out. the other new vent, I assume, is on the other side to the glacier....

Also - on the voda cam - I can see two explosive lava events - the main one and one that is erratic to the left of it... can you all see that? Now that must mean a new fissure, surely, and not just from melting into glacier considering the lava being thrown around?>

I'm glad you all still observing and am wonder some of the same things that have been mentioned. I thought there was a second vent. But I think that was a reflection off of the steam. Or lava exploding as it flowed away and contacted ice. I think there is just the main vent and the lava is flowing down under the glacier. I agree it's not one steam vent, it looks as though it's a long fissure. The eruption seems more vigorous. And if the lava is pooling under the glacier, this could cause larger steam explosions later today.

Fire and ice.
