Agreed, it may be off topic, but it comes with the OP. 4 - 5 minutes is a lot of time to be shouting and yelling for him to take it off, but anyway...

I read the thread and there are some valid points made. When it comes to BDSM like ravenshadow13 has pointed out, it is about consent. These women are not being forced to do this, they are paid actresses and actors. These people agree to engage in this. This is not enough to say that this will cause people to rape someone.

If pornography is divided into different fetishes, from one extreme to the other, then pornography that would lead people to want to commit rape are those that simulate rape.

I have to admit. Pornography can be bad, but there is a middle ground like hotpinkurinalmint has pointed out in his post. Some people have a higher sex drive than others. Yes, some pornography may demean women, and a lot of women are opposed to it, but there are also the same amount of women that enjoy watching pornography, that have these fetishes, even with there loved one, together. This is important, because her definition of a man probably watches pornography. It exists. Even though to some women, pornography gives women a bad name, and exploits them, women are the ones getting paid for it. They are the ones prostituting themselves for this money, this life, by choice. Of all the women in pornography, don't you think a large part of them actually enjoy what they do?

This is no different than what you have argued, and tried to portray men as a defined role. It would be the same as saying that a woman's place is in the kitchen. Your idea of how a man should be, is not the idea a how every man wants to be, in fact, it is not the idea of a lot of women of how they want a man to be. Yeah you are attractive, but not all men are as shallow, or are looking for shallow women because substance is very important. A pretty face is not enough to keep some men interested, and those are the ones that get exploited. Things are not all black and white, and the same goes for this whole topic.

For the ones typing the word "natural" and using it in a sentence, it would be best if you defined it first from your perspective.

Perhaps it is all in my head, but I have experienced the maliciousness of pornography. Even though I would not be classified as 'true addict', anyone that feels compelled to view pornography, in my opinion, is addicted. With that said, I classify myself as addicted.

It is an easy, click away solution to an innate urge in life. Which is easier, opening an internet browser, or going out and looking for the women? Then ask yourself, do you always take the easy way out?

Also, I challenge anyone here, who periodically (once a week or once a day, etc) looks up pornography to give it up for 3 months or more, without any help from porn blockers, filters, etc.

My point is, this urge us men have should be directed towards vis-a-vis human contact and intimacy, and not wasted away on the virtual world.

Urgh, friends pulling out porn vids when you're hanging around them. Thankfully it has never happened around me, but I just don't see how porn can be watched with multiples of people. Those of whom just laugh at moments and comment on it. Goddamn, that's just awkward.

Though, yeah. I totally disagree with the "more porn, more rape" thing. The way I see it, more porn would actually stop a man (yeah, I am just keeping it at men...'cause seriously, what man would be offended if they got raped by a woman?) from acting on a sexual impulse to defile a random woman, so to speak. In fact, scratch that. If a person is going to do something like violently rape someone, they will do it no matter what.

I'm all for the porn, though. None of the pro stuff, though. Amateur porn is where it's at. Though, I believe that this is the general belief. Yeah, I'm sad guy, whatever.

I will say it again..

Porn (For 99.99 percent of Porn Watchers) is not about them not wanting human contact .. because trust me THEY DO ..

Porn is about self-pleasure when REAL HUMAN SEX is not available .. some people do not want to wait 'till the misses gets in the mood .. so they ask porn for a little help to get arouse ..

Trust me .. most porn viewers would rather have the real thing ...

well as far as the real world goes my porn collection is solely young ladies showering,I want no wiener present save my own.

I am presently in love with about 12 women give or take in the world.
some there is a sexual component but most don't.

I look at it as the men in black movie with the little alien in the head of a big robot.
You are behind those eyes.everything else is your ride.
these days especially what is inside is what you need to fall in love with.
but sex is fun too, even for us losers.

I am saying, us as humans, will probably take the easy and convenient path. I do not claim that I am impervious to the "easy" path's allure. That is why I have once claimed myself to be an "addict". However, that is also why I am trying to discipline myself and take the more intimate path.

What you seem to be claiming here is that some people do not have the will power to wait for the "misses" to get home. Again, which is easier?

Why can't you have the best of both worlds?

I believe it was mopusvindictus that made that assertion here. Not I.

If you read over his post carefully (which I think I did), he was attributing masturbation, if not excessive masturbation, to the lack of drive to go out and pursue women, since masturbation, in most cases can leave a man less sexually energetic for the remainder of his day.

I have not thought about this enough since it was just presented to me here, but I did notice, whenever I did not masturbate for some days, and had gone to a gathering (party), I obviously felt more of a drive to pursue.

At first I did not know what you were referring to but I see now. Porn and intimacy together?

If you can keep a relationship, and also view porn to the point of not becoming "addicted" by general standards, then power to you. In my opinion, its one world or the other.

If you really want the best of both worlds, my hybrid world suggestion would be video taping your self and your partner in true intimacy where each can express themselves freely, do anything each other wants in the bedroom ( as long as its okay with each other of course).

Just look up porn addiction and you get a plethora of help sites, porn blockers, etc, that will help "addicts". Some porn watchers DO get addicted and DO suffer, and as a result, those closest to them suffer as well (family break ups, divorce, maybe even suicide). If you want to support that by viewing there web pages or buying subscriptions, then I cannot stop you. All I can do is present a sound argument, and hope I have at least got you to listen.

Porn is like alcohol, gambling, shopping, junk food, or television. There are millions of people out there who can live healthy happy lives by indulging in moderation. There are also plenty of people who have unhealthy over-indulgences or addictions.

The key is moderation, which is a virtue that is sorely missing in American society.

My question for you is what exactly is pornography? Does it just include really smutty stuff? Can it include any material that acts as a masturbatory aid, even if it is G-rated?

Is somebody that looks at really smutty stuff for a few minutes a week worse off than somebody who obsessively watches Bay Watch reruns?

I put it to you that anything that if porn is anything that functions as a masturbatory aid, then it is possible to avoid porn. Even "family" entertainment can contain sexual images.

Yes. I agree "moderation" is key, if you can keep it. I will admit, I did not have the will power to maintain a reasonable average viewing of pornography.

I view it as an exponential effect (for me at least). I tried pornography moderation, but it only led to me making excuses and broken promises to myself.

If one could somehow regulate once a month, I do not see how that could hurt the person in the short run. It would most definitely be easier to completely rid yourself of it if you were on once a month intervals vs. once a day.
