Whoa there, seems you zoomed way past reality in that post. First, i never mentioned any religion specifically. I disagree with ALL organized religions and how they seek to spread the word (force their beliefs on others), personally. But I support your right to practice whatever religion you wish, as long as it does not negatively affect others. Second, YOU were the one who posted the first post about "sucking baby brains out", i was talking about healthcare before that, i did not take it there. I'm glad we were able to agree that realistic education is the best way to combat unwanted pregnancy though, that's a good thing. Third, I never called you "horrid" in any way, shape, or form. Finally, I don't believe pagans and wiccans are the same, although i'm not entirely sure. Both worship the earth though, which is much closer to my personal sense of spirituality than any of the other religions, i feel very close to mother earth and nature. Since you asked what my morals are, I respect ALL living things, and would only kill out of necessity (to protect my own or eat). That includes insects in the home, i put them outside, lol. I feel i truly live by the golden rule, 'do unto others'.

there's no delicate way to put partial birth abortion. it is what it is.
and then to worry if the person wears a seat belt in their own car..the logic escapes me. condone and promote premarital sex and promiscuity with protection but deny mormon sects and a few other groups the right to have more than one wife... the logic escapes me.

put chemicals and drugs in our food and drinks, and yet refuse native americans their peyote ritual...not to mention the really ludicrious war on drugs.

to coin some spock ... "it is not logical."

This is the first time you've specified 'partial birth', which i agree should NOT be permitted unless the health of the mother is at stake. By that time the matter of 'choice' is a bit too late, and the fetus is too far developed to use as arbitrary birth control. One other thing that partial birth abortions are, is rare.

condone and promote premarital sex and promiscuity with protection but deny mormon sects and a few other groups the right to have more than one wife... the logic escapes me.

Condoning, and promoting are far stretches from simply allowing people to do what they choose with their own bodies, so long as they do not harm anybody else. I don't think it's right to deny mormons the right to have multiple wives SO LONG AS those wives are ADULTS, and have been given the choice to share a husband.

put chemicals and drugs in our food and drinks, and yet refuse native americans their peyote ritual...not to mention the really ludicrious war on drugs.

Don't EVEN get me started on that one, lol. Trust me, i'm with you about the war on drugs being ludicrous. But to my knowledge, natives are permitted to perform their peyote rituals on their land. Either way, as long as they aren't giving it to children, and aren't hurting anybody else, they can "see the size of that chicken" all they want, it's their bodies, their temples.

to coin some spock ... "it is not logical."

SO far from logical. Also, you are obviously not one of those of whom we cannot speak, and my previous comments do not apply to you. You are pretty reasonable, and seem to for the most part respect people's rights to choose their own moral path. If only more were like you, lol.

there are more like me. that's what i've been trying to say. every person is an individual. the ideas you refer to are stereotypes, promulgated by the press, public schools and popular media. the things i'm concerned about are relating to not raining on my parade either. like the safety of my family. the idea that sex is fun just go do it, when the kids aren't ready for it. i mean my grandmother married at the age of 11, but they were allowed to do so back then and their responsibilities and maturity levels were at least high enough to give them some preparation for such a fiasco! now it's sexual predator material on TV and the person gets cuffed and hauled off to jail.

the concept of taking what other people earned and giving it away to someone else is fine, provided the person has agreed to it. but to do so without their agreement is forced slavery to a government entity. that's kinda scary. and to continuously up the amount required, to make more and more social programs, even scarier. not that social programs are bad mind you, but forcing people to pay them against their will.... it's slavery.

There aren't many more like you. I have children too, and i do my best to keep their attention away from materials that i feel they are not old enough to see. I am not much into porn myself, but there are ALOT of people who are and that's none of my business as long as they don't hurt anybody else, and the people in the videos are all adults. All of the services i subscribe to offer locks and guards to prevent the little ones from stumbling onto adult programming. You're family doesn't have to be exposed to any of that, there are ways around it besides trying to force people away from it entirely. I don't disagree with what you've said about socialism, i said before i'm against the current healthcare reform myself, just not for the same primary reasons as those of whom we cannot speak. There are less drastic ways to fix our system, i know this because i work smack in the middle of it.

Ah! Diversity! It's a beautiful thing. What always confuses me is how quickly some choose labels for others, based on a few lines of text. Just because a person is passionate about one conservative ideal, doesn't make him/her a 'right wing whacko'. Just because he/she choses to defend one liberal ideal, doesn't make him/her a 'liberal loon'.

I would venture to say there are some here who have been called both.

Edit: Just noticed I left an 'o' out of 'choose'. That makes me crazy.

To address the title of the post, I can understand the frustrations you must be feeling. It would seem there is a vast abundance of mindless drones out there. Posting something just to post, or be rewarded by a flag or a star. I try so hard not to comment on many occasions as the poster or the ones that reply are seemingly out numbered in IQ by a chimp. I do however understand that it is good business for ATS, the more people on the site posting means more viewers and that helps pay the bills= advertising. So Id say try not to get too upset and weed through the duh. This is still a great site and offers allot of information to those whom actually seek a real debate or want facts to what ever is binding their process.

I certainly have, lol.

But you must admit that there are quite a few on here who have based their identity on their political leaning, and toe the line everytime. With their names and avatars they readily label themselves, and ever since the election they've been angry, and extremely outspoken and some are good at whipping people who share their view on a certain issue into a frenzy. It was exactly the same here on ATS, but opposite polarization, after the previous election. Every thread was against the Bush admin., and those of whom we cannot speak were the ones who were crying foul about that. It can seem like an invasion because people who are pissed tend to take it to the extreme and become obsessed, posting thread after thread about the same thing. It's funny how TPTB shake us like bugs in a jar, and watch us fight amongst ourselves instead of working together to try and figure a way out, lol.

Excellent Point, WTFover. I was thinking the exact same thing but you beat me to the punch. In the past I was guilty of judging a person from merely one or two lines on a board and relegating that person to a labeled category. I could not have been more wrong to do so.

I've reallized that doing this sells that person short. I would have never learned more about the depth or richness of said person if I continued to close my mind prematurely.

This devisiveness that the left and right have established has created a schism which produces and unhealthy ATS atmosphere, an unproductive one at that.

That is what is at heart here which taints the ability to seek alternative information devoid of the mainstream media and to seek the information that remains hidden from view.

I wish we could find common ground rather than promote the MSM agendas which is why there is and invasion of above top secret. Divided we will fall and I don't think that's what any truth seeker wants.

Excellent analogy! I've never heard that one before. I have said, many times, the elites have used this past election cycle to promote class warfare to a higher level than ever before. Unfortunately, it is, also, infecting the internet...Which many hoped and heralded as the last bastion of truth.

Thanks, lol. The two party system was a brilliant idea, gotta hand it to whomever came up with it. They hang out and laugh at us behind closed doors, i'm sure of it. Here's another analogy, they're like professional wrestlers, talking crap to each before the staged matches. And we're the audience with our Hulkamania shirts on (i grew up in the 80's, lol).

Hey, I've been really fed up with the whining posts, and happened to read yours; so that I could whine to my bride about the whiners.

However, good sir, you've proven me wrong. I liked your OP, and your right on.

Not that You would be concerned, but I gave you a star, and flag as well.

Thanks for the OP.

I didn't say "shut up" and deal with it. I said "deal with it."

There is a reason I said that and it has nothing to do with when I registered. Yes, I registered THIS name THIS year.
The reason I say this was already spoken about at length on page one.

Knock off the paranoia, um'kay?

I simply pointed out an observation.
"Shut up and deal with it", "if you don't like it go somewhere else", and other common blurbs like "don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out" and similar comments seem to be fairly common as of late from accounts registered in 2009.
It is interesting and odd and you take it personally and then call me paranoid?
LOL

That line is almost as funny as your avatar. That is Jack Black isn't it?

I do the same thing...whine to my wife about the whiners and I whine about the ones I cannot mention.

Thanks for the support.

Thanks for the OP!

Too bad the thread is already being bombarded with the same thing you and a few others are rallying against.

I've been a long time lurker and only recently joined but with over 50 percent of the threads now being absolute political rhetoric I find myself visting less and less.

Does anyone know of a better place the ideologues have yet to invade?

I know this will probably be over looked, but....

While I personally hate this current political conspiracy wave; the hate, fear, and division it caused in this forum, I can't help but feel it's always been like this.

Before this Obama-conspiracy craze, there was Bush and 9/11. If people weren't talking about those things, it was religious bickering which overshadows all of the other topics.

I think the reason why most long time ATSers are annoyed by political-centric conspiracy treads is because it has been dragging on for a while, one after another.

But to be honest I don't blame this trend. I think the reason why political based treads are so popular is because it has the ability to capture and cling on to it's audience.

It's not because those political threads has quality, but because it appeals to all people across the board. Whether we like politics or not, it's intertwine with our life. So everyone can have a say in it, thus keeps it alive.

On the other hand, topics such as cryptozoology, aliens/UFO, and paranormals are only popular amongst a handful of people (in the west). But the problem isn't the lack of audience on ATS, the problem are the threads themselves.

If you guys haven't notice for the past fews years, many threads regarding those topics has been lacking in quality and appeal. Most people (ATSers) just don't put in the effort to do research, provide evidences or provide personal input for their topic or their responses anymore. As a result those topics never gain enough momentum to get anywhere, and if it do, it usually burn out quickly because of the lack of intelligent discussion.

So what fill the void? That's right!! Political-centric threads. Let's learn from nature and create competition of those entities.

So let's not blame the new ATS members, whether they are right-wingers or left-wingers. Let's blame ourselves. We dug ourselves into this mess, and it's time we make an effort and dig ourselves out of it. All we have to do is just sit down, think, carefully write down our thread or response, re-read it, revise it, and then submit it.

THEN AGAIN!! I do feel the removal of PTS forum (Political Top Secret) may be partly to blame for this boom is political-centric conspiracy threads as well. I may be wrong, but I don't recall those threads being so prevalent until after PTS was shutdown, despite all of the confusion and troubles it caused. Though I don't know how much that is going to help now, it's kind of how the admin/creator kindly created religious debaters and bigots a "Religion/Spirituality" section in BTS, yet they still go on ATS to rant and fight just to be heard.

I am a little older then some of you, younger then a few of you and have spent my life reading a great deal (100's of thousands of book, yes really)
I claim to know only what I know and nothing more.

I have learned in life that only thing that REALLY REALLY matters is what affects your actions taken today that will make a difference in 100 years.

This is how I curb my urge to get upset or angry. Truly, ask yourself what are you doing today the will have ANY affect in 100 years. I work at a health care facility, around people that may have hours, days or weeks to be alive.

Is what you're doing important, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Is it going to truly affect the future, short term or long term?

Getting upset because Joe Bob said Billy ray said this or did that makes no difference in the long run. Flipping off the guy that cut you off in traffic, will make no difference in the long run.

Short of being able to push the nuclear button, NOTHING you post on this site will make a difference in 100 years, not anyone else's post either

Have a child and teach them your points of view, who knows, maybe in 100 years Their children CAN make a difference.

Don't let the "main stream" get you upset, they wont make a difference in 100 years, Nor will anyone else alive today...............
