So, you're basically saying that you feel those of whom we cannot speak have the right to force their beliefs and values on others, because of the false notion that this country was meant to be a country based on those values. Good luck with that, lol. Like I said, you guys are utterly alone, and your 'uprisings' are nothing more than a little bit of noise in the background.

Site needs new people, getting people talking is what matters most... in time the cream like everything else will rise to the top.
No, the cream only rises to the top through the intervention of refrigeration. Otherwise it is the cheese.
But milk isn't the most common liquid. More often its the scum thats on top...

Well, not just you specifically. Those of you, of whom we cannot speak, who feel that this country is meant to be governed based on YOUR moral values, are alone amongst yourselves. There are many, many other Americans who do NOT believe we should be governed based on such archaic values, and we will fight JUST as hard against it as you will for it. Our corrupt government takes comfort in that, because we will never unite against them. Not when we view each other as enemies. If you folks are at all interested in unity, and a chance to REALLY make a change, you're going to have to accept minding your own business and staying out of the moral lives of others. But we all know that's just TOO hard for those of whom we cannot speak to do.

I agree, OP. I wouldn't try to make a valid argument with quite so many insults, though. ATS is mirroring MSM, as tragic as it is. And the whole rating system only makes it worse. Someone gets enough stars, they get more obnoxious about the given issue because they feel validated for their opinion. I miss old ATS. We could discuss idea's that were genuinely "alternative", freely. Now, there's added social pressure to get people to agree with you for your argument to have weight. We can't even LOWER someones star rating when we disagree. If we're going to have ratings, why do they all have to be positive?

Fox runs a news piece that's on the fringe, it gets posted here.
MSNBC runs a news piece that's on the fringe, it gets posted here.

How is that alternative? We shouldn't be recycling their vomit. Hell, nothing is thought provoking anymore. It's just excuses to rant.

Some skeptics have adopted a "know it all" attitude because of the support they've been shown, even if there explanation is ridiculous and nonsensical.

Some hard core believers have adopted a hostile paranoid point of view when they don't get enough support. When they do get support but lots of negative replies, it's another conspiracy theory.

Some religious folks have adopted an equally "know it all" attitude because their fellow religious folks has shown THEM support. Granted, some had that attitude before, but it's gotten worse.

No one stands on their own anymore. It's about cliques and groups. ATS has become divided and irrelevant. Making your opinion heard has also waned for pretty much everyone but the extremists, since lazy people prefer to show support by stars and flags. But really has more support? The one guy with 30 stars or the 20 replies bashing him? Where is his back up? Why is he usually alone defending each and every point others use to attack him with?

For the record, I stick around in the hopes that ATS can become good again.

that's alot of assumptions based on what?
you mean like legal abortion?
or legal porn?
or legal a bunch o' other stuff vs. ?

like did you know, in oregon you can smoke cigarettes but you can't smoke e-cigarettes?
i know, makes sense doesn't it?

you can have your nearly born baby's brain sucked out of its head with a vacuum cleaner hose but you can't drive down the road without your own seat belt on.

perfectly logical.

but regardless of logic or the lack thereof in this case, i remember people saying one day when cable TV came out that it would end up being a problem, especially with the rise of more and more risque television programming! one day, they warned, they will be pumping pornographic films right into our homes! no one believed them because the worst that could be seen on tv was a bikini and the programming was free! no commercials! slippppery slope. before, we had 4 channels for free and beach blanket bingo was the worst to expect, now we have 300 channels and we pay them to brainwash us and our children and have nearly R-rated material on primetime channels without pay per view restrictions and that's not even touching the music video channels.

nothing to worry about tho cause sex is a good healthy sport yes ? except for the fact it does the most damage to the women that are impregnated. we are all for women's rights to be highly sexualized but not for the end result of that... so she goes threw the misery of the hormonal dump from sudden abortion and the risk to her life. pregnancy is not a walk in the park either. ( i know, i lost a niece when the c-section went awry and the amniotic fluid got into her bloodstream and killed her...all for an one night stand!).

perfectly logical though. i say we keep encouraging the ladies to be promiscous as possible, even though it may kill them. what do we care, as long as the guys are happy! one night stand? no big deal! that's really what it boils down to now, doesn't it? i mean they started in on me when i was still very young! that's your daughter, your sister, your favorite female person...we ladies all know sex is worth having but erm, teaching the females to be sexually free with just whoever, when it's so dangerous for them... it's like russian roulette

nevermind. you just go ahead believing the world will be fine as long as your morals are upheld and i'll go on believing that the world would be better if mine were and that's where the two of us will part ways.

Yeah, that's probably a good idea. Although i fully support your right to raise your family on the values you feel are important. You don't have to subscribe to any of those services. Also, you did not disappoint with your graphic "sucking brains out of baby heads" rhetoric. The glaring irony is, those of you of whom we cannot speak are the ones most opposed to teaching adolescent children about birth control, and personal responsibility, and push for completely unrealistic abstinence programs. You pretend to care about babies, but completely oppose preventing their creation in situations where they are not intended to be, beacuse that involves talking realistically about sex. Again, pushing your morality on others is FAR more important to you than actually reducing the number of abortions. Perfect example, thank you.

nope, i'm an individual. gonna say it again. i didn't reach my conclusions from school or church. i reached my conclusions by watching what happens in real life.
that guy got my niece pregnant and had no interest in raising a child. he told her to get an abortion. she refused. she paid with her life.

p.s. i told my kids all about the subject of sex, prevention, and dangers thereof when i was sure they wouldn't misunderstand the topic and repeated it again later, so i'd be sure they still understood the topic.

it's nothing to play around with. it's serious business.

Right, but what you've witnessed in real life is a direct result of forced morals. Do you have any true idea how teens' minds work? They will gravitate towards the forbidden, since it is a natural time in their lives to start wanting control of their lives, even though they are blind to consequences. Your niece (may she rest in peace) probably gravitated towards selfish lowlifes as a means of defiance of stiff rules. I mean, Palin's daughter got pregnant, that should tell you something about the effectiveness of abstinence only education. If these young ladies had been educated on understanding how their bodies work, and the importance of using birth control EVERY TIME they are sexually active, i suspect such tragedies would be avoided. If they felt like they could honestly talk to their mothers about their urges, and if they were given the resources to protect themselves, abortions would be an extreme rarity. The answer is clear, but that will NEVER sink in past all the indoctrination.

Here's what happens.....

Internet browsing person discovers ATS....looks around, is astonished at the depth, breadth, and "otherness" of the content here.....wants badly to be a part of the community and "fit in".

Immediately hits the ol' Google and looks up some of the topics they scanned in ATS....stumbles across something interesting--not realizing that horse has been beat to mush long ago--starts a thread.

Has not bothered to do any research or searching beyond a YouBoob video, World Net Daily article, or Alex Jones rant, and then discovers they have zero background or reasoning to defend the video or article they posted.

It just feels right!!!!

From that point, all they can do is repeat the same thing over, and over, and over again.....'cause they don't have anything in-depth to offer. And then they seem to get their panties in a twist and all worked up....'cause someone had the temerity to answer their post with some reasoning....and worst of all...

Dared to ask some questions
Doesn't make much difference.....questions asked are the number one single ignored component of any post. Try it sometime.

It's an extremely small minority that makes the barest attempt to answer a question.

This activity is compounded by the influx of new members......same scenario.....no real in-depth reasoning....no comprehension of the depth of discourse ATS has already committed to the topic.

So....new thread....old crap.

Pretty much the same thing in politics.....discovers some talking point, meme, or disinformation, and it just feels right....

But alas.....they haven't really looked into the topic or issue. They haven't questioned anyone's motive for spewing the blather.....but damned if it don't fit right into the slot in their brain that is scared, uncertain, and doubtful. And again, all they have to offer is the same meme; over, and over, again.

Lather

Rinse

Repeat

well she was a native american beauty too. adopted as a young child. i have no clue what her mother taught her. all i know is the father didn't want his own child. the baby survived the c-section, the mother did not. so her family took him care of him.. .12 months go by. THEN the father wanted his child afterall, but the court wouldn't let him.

guess it isn't so fun for the guys then either, is it?

and whatdya wanna bet there were fewer such problems before the sexual revolution! all that did was create more ways in which a woman could die. she could be raped, poisioned by cruddy food, inoculated with dangers vaccines, made into nothing but a sex object in every conceivable way, forced to be the responsible party for her sexuality when the sex could be forced on her anyway, and the ability to prove it, nigh on impossible, till finally it's backfired and now guys are getting thrown in jail for rape and so forth, even when they're innocent.

it feeds itself, like an 8 headed monster

Hurm, just wonderful sentiments ProtoplasmicTravler you are a hopeful sort and it is encouraging unfortunately we live in a self-centered world these people will save themselves before saving some stranger it's just the way they have been programed by society. So I feel it's our responsibility to help those who are willing, because in the end that is all we are able to do.

I don't think we're going to agree that sex is the cause of all those problems you've listed. Selfish, irresponsible people are the cause, and they are the cause of many more problems than just sexually related ones. How easy is it to completely ignore the fact that sex is the reason we all exist? None of us would be here without it, it just takes some self responsibility. And IMO all females should be made very aware of the male sex drive, and the BS they will spew to get what they're after, and that sex unprotected WILL result in pregnancy. I'm not somebody who thinks it's healthy for everybody to just throw caution to the wind sexually, and usually people who do so, do it to compensate for something traumatic that happened to them, or something they are missing in their lives. You can list the same number of potential problems regarding alcohol, gambling, etc. When people go overboard with anything, it never turns out healthy.

Because then when someone just despises another member, even if her/his threads and posts have merit, that other member will try to get his friends, family, aunt, dog, and cat and make them vote down those people that member despises just for spite.

There have always been one or another form of voting for threads on ATS, and I have been around since 2004, and most probably even before that there was also some other form of voting method, they just changed throughout the years.

Members are allowed to vote if they think threads, or posts are making a valid point. It is nothing more than a voting system for past threads, it doesn't mean that member will always be right.

agreed!

so anyway, i think you're misunderstanding what people who say things like i just did mean when they say them. they are concerned for their families who have to live in this society, which is clearly going the way the TV directs it too. this doesn't just mean when the topic is against what you believe, it's when the TV is against what anyone believes but the forces at work using it to manipulate the minds of the society.

i had a world religions class in college. the professor was a hindu. we studied hinduism at length, which was fascinating, then a bit on buddhism, taoism, and skimmed very briefly over islam and judaism. completely skipped over christianity. had a wiccan high priestess ??!! (was told there's no such thing by other pagans but that's what she claimed she was) come to class and talk to us. but we weren't allowed to discuss anything except the subjects the teacher approved, which left out christianity.

i mused about that for awhile and wondered why that was. then i realized... no one in the class wanted to talk about it either. it was like mass mind programming. i couldn't figure it out for awhile till i considered the high school texts, popular music, recommended reading materials, popular books from authors who deplore christianity, the list went on and on and on till it was so obvious it made me feel quite literally horrid. i left that class realizing that something really weird was going on, on a massive scale.

coming here pretty much cemented that in, even though i didn't really come here to debate what other people thought of the religion. i came to ATS to discuss my theories on an only marginally related topic.

furthermore, i never have voted on the topic of abortion. i've voted in two presidential elections. once for a democrat and once for an independent. so your stereotypes do not fit there either. in fact, most of what you judged me on, didn't apply to me at all. all i did was tell you what i thought about the subject, and you ended up agreeing with me on it anyway. so how am i horrible again? cause i'm forcing people to follow my rules by making laws and shoving them down their throats? riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiightttt.

what are your morals? your morals are that i am wrong! even though you agree with me on the only topic i've even discussed with you at length. do you see a problem with that? i know i do.
so back to my original statement that i'm an individual and you don't even know me and think you do you are so bloomin' brainwashed that evenwhen you realize you agree with me, i'm still wrong!

Thanks for the Gold nugget you provided!

It is important to remember, that we are just typing words into this stream on ATS. You can scroll past the junk.

But yes, it does get frustrating, dealing with the 10th topic on a Kenyan birth certificate.

>> The problem isn't JUST "teaching" new people. It's that this type is NOT here to learn. They are the Cow Bird, that lays its egg in another birds nest and it crowds out the occupants.

Not to be too political -- I voted for Obama after all knowing the whole time that he wasn't going to be a LOT of change -- but while we get distracted by nonsense on topics -- much like we used to argue about wether Ronald Reagan colored his hair while we are invading Granada for no discernible reason. Real issues get snuck under the table.

Sure I'm FOR some healthcare reform -- I'd prefer Single Payer, but the discussion is hijacked for nonsense about hospice care becoming "Kill your grandparents." Really, I wouldn't know if the "reform" were another Wall Street level bailout and we are all getting ripped off.

We CAN be teachers and we CAN be patient -- with people of a genuine interest. But if you let the Cow Birds crowd out real conversation -- you will end up chasing the lowest common denominator as we've seen on Network Television. Eventually, those numbers will go down. And once there is no longer anyone to feed the Cow Birds -- they will fly away and "flock up" some other site in massive numbers.

Some of these people are corporate paid -- to over-represent some interest group trying to rip off the public, and some are just the fools that follow -- thinking that belief will absolve them of responsibility.

Some of you will get what I'm saying and some of you won't.

We BOTH need to be above the fray, but we need someway of removing the flagrant de-railer of topics. Perhaps a limit on the number of times a week a certain TYPE of topic comes up? Some sort of judgement call.

Even when there were really wacky ideas here -- I was OK with it, it was fun. And I was OK with the NO negative comments. If someone thinks there is an alien naval blockade, then we could talk strategy of how to get around it -- without me ever actually believing the premise to begin with. I don't believe in chem trails, I don't believe that MOST UFO sightings are for real, but I do believe 911 was an inside job and I do believe in the PTB manipulating markets and ripping off the middle class to herd us all into some vision of dystopia that puts them on top. You take what you can get when you are NOT following the MSM.

But these corporate lackeys -- I've seen them on every blog on the web. They never shut up, they never learn. They repeat the same points over and over and they are either morons or they are paid. You cannot convert them because they are only here for one reason.
