Ok, I'm caught up now. I went to the other thread and read the article. It seems that the affair had nothing to do with this trip. It only came to light, because of the attention this trip got. So, we still don't know why he was in Argentina, other than his own story of getting away after a difficult session.

Where is the Sarge? I want to know what he thinks of this development.

The hubris is amazing... like he could skip out and just totally disappear for 5 days with a mistress and think he could get away with it with a hiking to let off steam story... or Argentina...

The fool.

I have no sympathy for him whatsoever...

his family is another story all together.

Well another GOP presidential hopeful just shot himself in the foot.

Excuse me while I wipe away crocidile tears.

Because he got caught, right?

Nope, he outed himself. Fail for you.

Im am so glad this guy is gone and hopefully will have his political career stopped dead in its tracks. This guy was only about his own ambitions and self interest. America has been freed from another Bush Republican canidate for future President.

Thank you Sanford for resigning, at least you got that part right.

Uh.....You guys are reading this wrong! The affair started a year ago, his family found out about it 5 months ago, and this trip had nothing to do with it!

All the attention that this trip got him, was the reason for him coming back early and owning up to the affair, but he was not on a getaway with a mistress!

As far as affairs and politics, who cares! I think we should all have mistresses! I think my wife needs a cabana boy! Variety is the spice of life, and sex is probably the most natural and healthy activity someone could partake in!

So in summary, mistress=who cares, and we still don't know the real reason he packed his truck for camping, drove to Atlanta, and flew to Argentina?!?!

Riiigghhtt.

He just so happened to have an affair with a woman from Argentina and it's only a coincidence that is where he went to get away from it all to someplace exotic.

If that is the case then he needs to resign for ignorant and failing to anticipate how that may look.

Okay? Something 5 months old is going to come out.

Like I said. He did himself in, and was not outed.

And I do believe this is a cover story for the truth.

Because Clinton resigned, right?

And every other person who had an affair resigned too. Right?

OK, I just read it again, and I don't see where it says she was from Argentina. Can you tell me where to find that info?

I haven't watched any video of him yet, but he claims to have known her for 8 years, and had an affair for one year, and his family was aware for 5 months, so making a big cover story for a trip to Argentina, even with a mistress, still does not fit! It would be much easier to hire her as an aid and take a fact finding or diplomatic trip somewhere.

McGreevy, Newsome and Spitzer did. Guilianni and the dude from New Orleans didn't. Gingrich did, though - it's a mixed bag.

So why call for resignation . . . especially if this is just a front?

It's been done already. John Edwards. The press would be all over it!

I don't think it's a front. I think it's the half-truth and there's much more to come.

The OP is the one who thought it maybe a cover but has since changed his mind:

Kind of reminds me Eliot Spitzer and David Paterson. Both NY governors and both admitted adulterers. Yes, both Democrats.

This problem is not isolated to either side of the aisle. Just ask Barney Frank and his boyfriend who was allegedly operating a male escort service from Frank's apartment. Much to Frank's surprise of course.

Rudy and McCain have also had their trysts as well. God knows who else. We had a County Court Judge who was caught driving drunk dressed in drag. He is retired and still dresses in drag. 70 year old in drag... not good for the eyes...

Seems like the common denominator is Politics and the various powers that accompany it. All the more reason not to trust a politician regardless of his affiliation.

Jimmy Swaggart had real tears too.........

Still way too fishy for me ............I just know how politics is played in DC and how members are manipulated in doing what ever they ask.......

The stakes are real big right now...........Everyone is playing trump cards.....and this looks like one to me

Now I will fully agree with this.

He said himself he has known her for eight years. I would bet money that he has been to Argentina many, many times during that period. Or she has been here. But only now has it come to light when his name is tossed around as a front runner for 2012.

Damn, some of you want a revolution really bad. So bad that you're coming up with stories to cover for the fact that he is just another politician who likes getting a little side-action.

Sorry folks, no revolution today.
