And if they went bankrupt without any government help, the person she was referring to might have completely lost their dealership and same with every other GM dealer out there. Losing some things is better than losing everything.

Superb video. Star and Flag!

What a sad state of affairs we are in. GM should of been allowed to tumble and fall. Our goverment certainly isn't going to do a better job of managing them thats for sure!

Are you guys all so blind to Republican propaganda??? Or are you just a part of it?

The dealer in question, Paul Walser, has contributed thousands of dollars to Republicans including Norm Coleman and Bachman herself. Feel free to look it up on the FEC if you want to take the time (unfortunately, you can't link directly to the results).

This guy is a big Republican donor, so why would a Democratic Senator try to back up someone who has given so much money to her opponents...Perhaps because he is a constituent and provides jobs to constituents???

Please note, I am not trying to argue whether the whole GM deal is part of a greater conspiracy or not, but trying to help you realize that Republican partisans are trying to use your paranoia and belief in various conspiracy theories to their own benefit.

I don't particularly care for Glenn Beck but this program he had about car dealerships and Obama's Czars is frightening.

Just wait until all of the upcoming Obama taxes and tax increases hit us. There will be no middle class, we'll all be poor. Our economy will hit all time lows as unemployment hits all time highs. Obama has gone 180 degrees from many of his campaign "promises."

Gangsters would actually be efficient at running things, government never is. Although I have become politically agnostic after the last "election" I can't wait to hear the Obama voters cry out wholesale about how bad they screwed up by electing this man. I'm not real sure it would have been much different with McCain. The N.W.O. is the puppet master and we are the slaves being controlled by the master through our elected "representatives"

America no longer has a two party system. Both major parties are the same, and we the people are screwed.

Absolutely 100% correct!! Why should a business that was run into the ground by piss-poor management, corruption and corporate greed get a second chance. AIG the same deal, let it all go down in flames, i'm sick of the taxpayer dollars being flushed down the diamond coated marble toilets of the powers in this country. The only way it will sink into their heads is if it affects them personally, because what do they care about unemployment and retirement, they already have money stowed away safely in case they have to physically as well as morally turn their backs on the country and scamper into hiding like the rats they are. If they truy and run they shoudl be stopped detained and held.

If the SHTF scenario comes alive, then we as ATS members should afford ourselves the luxury of banding together for self preservation and leave teh nay sayers and denyers left to perish.

Can someone give me a summary of what she is talking about? I am unfamiliar with the concept in the content.

Also, Isn't the US government owned by corporations?

I hate political threads. its soo partisan and inconsequential. after dealing with 8 years of patriot act, homeland security, patriotic mind control, despotism style capitalism, torture, ungrounded warfare, etc...you think anyone at all is listening to anyone whom demands we keep the status quo?

you wont change minds, your party railroaded the countrys finance, trust, honor, and integrity in record time and your in the woods where you belong.
America will change now...go figure, the whole campaign was about change and now your flipping out when change occurs even though it was the keyword.

Yes, it will change, No you wont like it because it goes against your party philosophy, dont like it? vote. dont have enough votes? too bad. This is how its is done in the US, and this is how it will always be done. Sit and gripe about it, or try to find a middle ground to salvage some aspects of what you so loved from 2000-2008.

If it becomes a socialism state, then so be it. but its not because the Dems are devils, its because the Reps failed to make people care about their concerns.

peace

Check out this from Countdown. Apparently, Bachmann was doing the same thing of going to dealerships, and trying to get help from the government, and was actually helping and working with the same Democrat she was speaking about. Sounds a little stupid to me, attacking someone for something she herself was doing.

Start at 2:20

edit to add the link to Bachmanns page:

bachmann.house.gov...

Congresswoman Michelle Bachman was on hand to lead the rally to save the dealership. She said she will take their fight to Washington on Wednesday when Chrysler leaders will be questioned by members of the senate about the future of local car dealers.

Sen. Amy Klobuchar will also take the fight and a petition signed by attendees of the rally to Washington.

I don't really disagree that some of this is bad, but Bachmann doesn't seem to be the right person to be attacking it.

GM should have been allowed to fail, simply because the alternative is worse. the people that will be in charge of GM from now on have ZERO experience in running a company.

really what this country needs is:

1. Side drilling in Alaska to ease gas prices in the coming months

2. A REALISTIC plan for alternative fuels and energy, and this goes with the side drilling, it makes more sense to do that and use the money saved for research into something viable now, not 10 years from now. oh and everyone else can use nuclear energy and we cant??

3. We get off the foreign oil, in fact if we manage to get off oil entirely ASAP the economy would see a drastic turnaround because we would suddenly have something new that china would pay dearly for

4. Responsible politicians and CEOs who arent going to take for granted the profits and wealth they are seeing, and spend like it'll last forever

5. In return for tax breaks and incentives, A healthcare plan that is paid for by major CEO's. this would solve the HC problem, make other HC companys more competitive in pricing and above all else bring some companys back to America with which would mean more jobs.

6. most importantly we need to learn from the past of the world, what fools we are to repeat the mistakes time and time again.

there are probably flaws here, but i see this is as some of the key components for an economical turnaround

This isnt about capitalism...capitalism failed, its a flawed economy model that has about a 25-50 year lifecycle before complete catastrophic failure. this is now about survival of any form of economic model whatsoever before going back to trading chickens and cows.

Alternatively...we could nuke japan again...aim for their car manufacturers

I would be more than happy to go back to trading chickens and cows. It may be flawed thinking, but it seems to me that in a barter/trade type of economy EVERYONE has something to offer. Whether it be a cow, a chicken, a piece of art they created, or offering to provide some labor in return for a service or good; everyone has something to offer.

I sit sadly and still wonder how many of you consider this a democrat/republican problem? This has been an ongoing event for quite some time. They (democrats/republicans) have been doing this for decades, and if not for the nature of our politically unaware and inactive citizens, it would have never been allowed. We did this to ourselves, and most of us still swallow their grand illusion of political polarization and separatism between parties. Everyone is so caught up on being right and wanting to be on the winning team, that many of us have forgotten who the actual players in the game are. It's not dem vs repub ie
you v.s me,) its the wealthy elite against the rest of the world's population, and they don't care whether you're a Soviet or an American, just as long as you have money. All it is, is the rich getting more money and more wealth, while the poor suffer from the results. This has been coming for a long time, so, the majority of you cannot pretend to be surprised.

Most of you are extremely bright, how much longer can this stuff fool you?

Uhhh..
Pot, Kettle, Black.

Look into Michelle Bachmann a bit. This is about as politically backwards as I've seen her. She's a criminal herself, and just because she's helping out some local dealerships doesn't exonerate her in the least. She's crazy.

Yes you are right about the wealthy and the elite, but government corruption reaches much further than just that. Our law agencies are probably more corrupt even than politics. The wealthy get deals that the average or poor man cannot. Our police are corrupt, the D.A.'s are corrupt, the lawyers are corrupt, the judges are corrupt. Innocent people are set up if the police decide to do so; heroin and crack are controlled by the police. The big dealers pay off law enforcement in order to sell their stuff w/o hassle. Oh sure you see a few pathetic crackheads getting busted on COPS every week, but it is only a smokescreen, keeping a few flunkie cops on the beat to hassle homeless addicts. I could go on and on.

It's kinda hard for me NOT to agree with this lady. She knows what's going on, who the players are, how their deals are secured. To all Americans: take note of her words and help spread the message.

"She knows whats going on"? LOL

She is a not so bright right-wing mouthpeice.

I remember when she suggested without shame that their should be "investigations" into congressmen as well as then candidate Barack Obamato to determine if they were "anti-American"...McArthy anyone?

Or when she tried to tie the Swine Flu to Democrats...
On Monday April 27, in the midst of the 2009 swine flu outbreak, Bachmann stated on conservative media outlet Pajamas TV that the last swine flu outbreak in the U.S. occurred under "another Democrat President", Jimmy Carter, and that she was not blaming President Obama for the outbreak but that she found it to be an "interesting coincidence". Contrary to her statement, the previous swine flu outbreak occurred while Republican President Gerald Ford was in office.

Or the Great Depression?....
Bachmann blamed the Great Depression on the Smoot-Hawley Tariff Act. She misstated the name of the bill, calling it "Hoot-Smalley", and described it as the work of a Democrat, Franklin D. Roosevelt, even though it had been signed into law almost three years before Roosevelt took office, by his Republican predecessor Herbert Hoover, and Roosevelt had criticized it in his presidential campaign.

She has sponsored bills banning not just Gay Marriage, but also civil unions...now THAT is "Gangter" government!

In support of a constitutional amendment she proposed to ban same-sex marriage, Bachmann said that the gay community was specifically targeting children and that "our children...are the prize for this community." Bachmann has said that people who are gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender suffer from "sexual dysfunction" and "sexual identity disorders."

Yah, "it's hard not believe her" She "Knows what's going on"

She has endorsed wich hunts for people who are "Anti-American"...how do you think she would feel about most of the threads on ATS?

Please...There is, in fact, a lot wrong with our government and this woman is a big part of it.

Sorry about the "s"...I was exhausted when I posted this...and I assure you that I am literate..

Well said....that is my point...this isn't meant to be a partisan political discussion...career politicians in BOTH parties need to go....the federal government should be reigned back in...Federal power is flippin' outta control...anyone who contests that fact is simply brainwashed...voting does no good...we have a two party mafia that will kill any legitimate political opposition...it IS all about the money...NOT the people...the only way it will change is if the people go to war...total economic war...REFUSE to play their fixed game...they need us to continue the charade....and we are afraid to say what we feel out loud because "Big Brother" might be listening....it's OUTRAGEOUS what is happening in this country.....I have nothing but admiration for the Iranian protesters...they're out getting shot at and monkey hammered for what they believe in, but the country that started the unalienable rights movement is going down without so much as a whimper...Denninger has it right again this morning...

Proud to Be an American? You Should Be Ashamed!

In America, if the government turns into a goon squad, you have the constitutionally-protected ability to shoot back. In Iran you have no such ability as the Iranian government has never recognized the unalienable rights as set forth in our Declaration. So in Iran the population risks mass death to protest. In America the population risks loss of some income since you'd have to cut work. The Iranians take to the streets; we take to our couches and have another beer. Grow a pair of balls America. The people of Iran are putting us to shame.

This isn't about your precious politics...it goes to the fundamental principles this country was founded on!!!

The thing that gets me is who the heck can afford a brand new GM anyway? They pay these plant workers 20-30 $ an hour or whatever through the unions...

One of the big reasons they wanted to bailout is to save those plantworkers from losing jobs. Or so they said. and it would have hurt the economy if they went under..

Maybe it was hurting the economy paying these people this much, and it causing higher priced vehicles for the average consumer that didnt work under unions wages.
