Well, I am a woman and I don't take offense. However, I don't get offended easily.
And I'm quite secure in myself (looks, personality, etc), that a pretty woman in the White house isn't a problem

I am the daughter of a [retired] Pastor. I literally grew up in the church. I was brought up in a very religious home, blah blah blah.
I went thru some rebellious years - I half shaved my head and hung out with skinheads and punks and the list goes on of my rebelliousness.
That I can laugh about now. I also got pregnant young and without being married.

My rebelliousness was not a result of my parent's parenting or lack thereof. They told me all the rights and wrongs of life and tried their best to steer me in the right direction. It was me being a normal kid testing the waters, making MY own choices and so on.

All of that and I turned out JUST FINE.

That's my point. 5 kids and twenty years of marriage; the orginal poster was referencing her soft, "deliciously sexy" laugh. Not the proper contex, in any regard.

I loved this entire comment:

This is a man who can give an entire speech about the wars America is fighting, and never use the word "victory" except when he's talking about his own campaign. But when the cloud of rhetoric has passed ... when the roar of the crowd fades away ... when the stadium lights go out, and those Styrofoam Greek columns are hauled back to some studio lot - what exactly is our opponent's plan?

This comment about the styrofoam columns is my favorite because it perfectly illustrates exactly what obama is...FAKE. Obama has no REAL accomplishments! He has spent less than 4 years in the senate and has NOTHING on his resume except for showing up...OCCASSIONALY! And after campaigning for the past year or so, can any of his supporters please tell me, what the hell does he stand for if not full blown socialism? Sara Palin (Americas Sweetheart) is a breath of fresh air and she IS exactly what we need to clean out Washington.

I respect your post and I fully understand your comments. This is not a discussion regarding who will be voted mayor of a small town. It is for the VP, one step from POTUS (and boy is Mcain old in body - cancer three times, or was it four? Hmm...wonder if he'll get it again?) back to the point, we hold politicians in a different light - no one in today's YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST news media world would turn down these stories, wether regarding a Dem or a Rep - the more sordid the better - I wonder if Clinton smoked that cigar? You or I would never withstand the scrutiny it takes to become president - hell, you are on ATS - you'd be scorched! The simple fact that the boy who knocked up Palin's daughter describes himself as a "f***ing redneck" and proclaims boldly "Anyone messes with me, I'll kick their a**." is ripe for fodder. Again, you don't think her MySpace is open for debate? Ok then. Curious when an interesting story regarding some "normal" dope comes up and we get all the info about what a tool they are from their myspace page, we just say, man, what an idiot. In her case, many say she should know better, but she is looking for help. There is simply no way my daughter is going to think it's ok to flash gang signals, party drink, do drugs and get pregnant by 17 because I am in constant communication with them and they are my priority. Not becoming VP. And yes, most politicians fall in similar lack of parental supervision control...it comes with the job, but it is still what it is. Get to know your daughter's boyfriend? It's not like she had to work after hours making $7 an hour to help pay for the apartment rent - she worked - into the night for her own ambitions, and did not know her kids. right or wrong, good or bad, more often then not, it is absent parents that screw up kids. Is it hard to ask who are you dating? Or if your daughter has a myspace page? The schools actually send parents info on this, you realize.
Again, to claim ignorance of this in small town Alaska is stetching the truth.

Isn't it amazing that the FAKE, no real ideals guy is actually going to win? I like your part about how Mcain/Paulin are the ones who are really going to clean up Washington - wait - didn't I hear that before, around 2000? Oh yeah, and THIS time the candidates aren't PUPPETS of the neo-con conservative party that created the mess...on top of the other mess? Or are they? Hmmm. Paulin...fundmentalist pentacostal approved by j dobson...Mcain, 93% voting record in favor of bush bills...hmmm sure SOUNDS the same. I wonder what I'm missing?

Oh really? I was just visiting Obama’s website and they are now giving out free government issued super absorbent crying towels. You better reserve yours now! If you miss out you may want to try this.

The following is my opinion as a member participating in this discussion.

Heres one I noticed

Theres a time for politics, and a time for leadership

I heard that and I pondered on it...and I pondered some more.

Yes, you could see it as noble sentiment.

But I wasn't really sure how to take it, after 8 years of Bush, and the "I'm the decider" culture.

Leading a country the size of the US is all about politics, and not just "leadership", isn't it? So is she saying "we're just gonna do it our way and screw what anyone else thinks" ?? And is that more of the same old same old from the Republicans?

As an ATS Staff Member, I will not moderate in threads such as this where I have participated as a member.

Though it wasn’t one of Palin’s remarks, I really love this remark about her from Fred Thompsons speech the other night:

And I can say without fear of contradiction that she is the only nominee in the history of either party who knows how to properly field dress a moose ... with the possible exception of Teddy Roosevelt

God I love this woman

She is 100 Xs more qualified to be President TODAY than Obama could ever dream to be. When you go to bed tonight, get on your hands and knees and beg God that He will allow her to lead this great nation someday, whether it's next year or in 4 years.

Either way, you just got introduced to the first female VP and POTUS.

Just your typical right wing rhetoric really, conservatives ate it up tho.

… when that happens, what exactly is our opponent’s plan? What does he actually seek to accomplish after he’s done turning back the waters and healing the planet?

YES! I forgot about this one. This was my favorite!

Styrofoam Greek columns.... perfect!

I'm betting Obama and about 90% of the Dems are wishing Hillary would be the VP right now instead of Biden.

That's why Biden is checking RIGHT NOW to see if that "VP thing" really is in writing.

Nah, thats pretty accurate! Next thing you'll tell me is Democrats are the ones that truly represent minorities in this country!

Well......
How many minorities were in the crowd?? I didn't spot ONE.
Says alot.

Good grief. They were all over the place. I recall thinking how many blacks I saw. Gee, I thought every single one of them were for Obama. Guess not.

Ugghh. That's gross, no offence mate. Her school-marmish charm is enough to make one wonder what she is like in bed with her husband - as that is as far as THAT is going to go. Simply because she may be "good-looking" (and thats a stretch) does not mean she is sexy. IMHO you take into account the whole woman when thinking "sexy". In her case, her life includes a lot of meetings with tight white businessmen who think God gave them the ticket to heaven, selling her own soul in the process of getting there through these oldschool politicians. Ick.

Whatever you are smoking, you should really consider giving it up. It's destroying your brain cells at a rate far faster than you are able to replace them obviously. She is the one who HASN'T sold her soul. THAT's why 80% of Alaskans love her. She's the one that has sent corrupt politicians OF HER PARTY to prison.

Name me ONE other politician that has done that.

Definitely not the polls.

Uhh, the only poles we've seen so far from her are the ones she just used to demolish Nobama and Biden.

My favorite Sarah Palin line?

Well by far it has to be the one that was the most telling of her experience and understanding of her potential role as VP long before all the current hype:

"As for that VP talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me what is it exactly that the VP does every day?"

Sarah Palin quoted from CNBC's "Kudlow & Co."
Youtube

Priceless.

I think I'll make that my new signature.
Thanks for reminding me of it.

Evidently her humor was over your head. It's long been joked that the VP is largely a ceremonial spot, although some do more with it than others. She obviously was trying add some humor without saying an emphatic YES or NO. Nobody being considered for the post is going to say "Oh, YES! Pick ME!"

Joe Biden DID emphatically say he would NOT be VP.

I'll take her jokes over Biden's lies anytime.

Speaking of jokes, wait until you see what she does to Biden in the debate. It'll go something like her speech last night, only he'll get to hear it in person.

Afterwards, the media can ask him what it feels like to be "field dressed".

I loved the line about the Hockey Mom. Palin is personable, plucky, attractive, and looks every bit the GOP woman. It would be great if she was my neighbor, but I wouldn't vote for her if you put a gun to my head.
Her purpose last night was to energize the base, and did she ever! What the GOP (Greed Over People) doesn't seem to get is that this is not a "center-right" nation, as the conservative pundits like to spout, it is a 50/50 nation. Neither party can win on its own, and this time, the momentum is with the Dems. The idea that a Hillary voter would switch because of Palin is just plain illogical. First you support a pro-choice, universal healthcare candidate, then switch to someone who is 180 degrees off, just because she's a woman? Someone needs to grow a brain.

It takes time for the polls to reflect any bounce, usually a 3-day minimum.

McCain picked Palin on Aug 30th if I recall correctly.. No bounce yet.

Wrong. The announcement of Sarah Palin almost totally wiped out the bounce that Obama/Biden got from the DNC.

Wrong.....Again please source your statements with proof.
Here is a current listing of all the polls. McCain's numbers remain the same. Obama continues to lead by 6 points... Take a look at the graph. These are all the polls averaged.

As you wish...

MINNEAPOLIS - Barack Obama's post-convention bounce has been blown back by Hurricane Gustav and a blast of northern exposure, Gallup tracking-poll numbers released yesterday suggest.

Two days after John McCain stole the spotlight by announcing his surprise running-mate choice of Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, Obama's lead has dropped to 6 percentage points - 48 percent to the Arizona senator's 42 percent.

Obama had an 8-point lead - 49 percent to 41 percent - on Saturday.

Why are you polluting this thread with inane drivel like this? Everyone else is working to make ATS a better place to post. Skeptic Overlord has begged people to stop this type of puerile, divisive behavior. And yet you continue.:shk:

Please take the trolling elsewhere.
