exactly, minorities do the same thing, most humans do, that's why you don't go after the majority that can make the most noise to change things. Let
the majority sit back and do nothing while you target minorities to exploit.

Just thought I'd let you know incase people assume she is just black, she lives both sides of the races, that's a good thing for getting the view
from both sides.
Look at her pictures and you will see, mmm.

Alicia Keys and her mother:

It's funny that I've never seen a picture of her in an AK-47. I smell a lawsuit or anything like that coming.

Let's not blame music. It's just them acting like idiots. Unless they are really dumb enough to let music lead them to kill.

I wouldnt say that it was created for just blacks to kill each other but rather anyone stupid enough to idolize it. Just as many other people listen
to it than blacks. Where i come from (Northern Canada) young aborigional peoples are actively taking part in the gangster type lifestyle, also many
white kids are doing so too. There isnt a large black population up here but we are seeing gang violence and also a drug culture that is similer to
the large urban centers in the United States and most young people regardless of race are taking part in it. Kids that come from upper middle class
families are adopting this lifestyle as well at an alarming rate and most believe it to be what real life is about. They act tough and start trouble
that most people normally wouldnt start. They would rather sell drugs and get respect than work one of the many 100k jobs that are widely available
here.
Although someone said earlier that the rap labels are run by blacks and why would they initiate the violence, the answer is simple, because they make
alot of $$$ off of it. Its not just the music but the clothes and the cars and the fancy gadgets, it is a huge spin off industry. Big corporations are
making lots of money off of this and it fuels a big part of the consumer industry as it makes people want to buy more as owning lots of nice things
makes you more important. Since most people listen to some form of rap/hip hop it is driven into their heads to spend and act like your bigger and
badder than everyone else.
If you ask me it was invented to increase profits and also to reduce populations in densely populated and poorer areas, black or white.

I applaud ALicia Keyes for taking a stand and making the statement.
The dawn of Gangsta Rap I will call the release and furor over NWAs "F the Police". I challenge anyone to find that record in it's entirety and
listen to the disclaimer that is part of the record, but was always omitted.
The Gangsta Rap culture that followed was fueled and funded by the Iran-Contra Guns for Drugs. The powers that be in the entertainment industry began
pushing out the main stream rap of the day, the non-violent party, social issue rap. The positive stuff was killed. The excuse was then, it was not
selling, which was a lie.
Instead groups that glorified the drug life, crack and promiscuity were signed, promoted and given tons of money. They were given negative press,
which in turn glorified it. The result, well we know the result. The Crack and AIDs wave of the 80s and 90s.
Most of these Gangsta Rap Tours etc were funded directly by dirty money, encompassing a nationwide network of dealers who used the tours to move the
weight via around the country.
Some posts refer to the fac tthat more non whites are consumers of this gangsta rap. This may be true in the last 4-5 years, but bear in mind this
gangsta rap issue goes back 20 years now. As a result of the non-whites involvement into the gangsta rap and the negative effects that it has had on
that community, it in itself is being killed off.
Let me add this also. Music is a very powerful thing. The RIAA has been allowed to do things that in other venues would be considered downright
illegal. Most of you do not follow this issue because it is music, and that probably of which you do not listen. How ever the principle and premis is
the same. Recorded Media. Our rights to choose and listen to what we want, be it music or spoken word is being taken away right under our noses. The
point will come when ALL communication will be in essence censored due to copyright laws. This is the only way that the First Amendment right to free
speech is being attacked. If what is said cannot be controlled or restricted, how it is delivered will be. Let's look at the analog broadcast systems
being taken away. There goes our means of communicating with the masses on a reasonable level.
Don't get mad at Alicia for saying the obvious to those of us on this side of the fence. Hold back the hidden bias and bigotry and look at it for
what it is. The color of ones skin does not mean the action will be different. The hammer is dropping on us all. All our blood is red.

Well... In England, Gangster rap has being doing the rounds since the 80's, and now it seems every little chav on the street is listening to it and
acting like a fourteen year old godfather, all blinged up, expensive phones, expensive track suits and an attitude that could crack oysters at fourty
paces.
Gang warfare has reached new heights, with kids with guns and territorial disputes (I mean WTF!)... acting like they're from L.A or something, when
in truth they are nothing more thatn disillusioned, lonely kids who feel the need to conform.
But, you cannot blame it on the music, more so the image.... the whole, 'pimps and ho's and guns and bro's ' crap.
I mean these kids are mainly asian and white, usually from an average background and certainly not doing it for the streets or whatever.
I really feel like giving some of these little gits a slap every know and again, but realise that would land me in jail or worse, with a knife in my
throat.
Sad.

Exactly the music industry is a powerful machine and it fuels a huge sector of the economy. People make alot of money off of our misery. The death of
analog is going to kill free speech in a big way. For example we didnt have to pay to listen to the radio but satellite radio you have to pay for and
it is killing regular broadcast radio at an alarming rate. The only nice thing about satellite radio is that alot of lesser known artists or ones that
are underplayed due to censorship are making more headway. Digital tv in my opinion is garbage. It is twice as expensive for the same content for a
few small conveniences and for those of you who think it will get cheaper once the HD standard takes over in 2009 you are sadly mistaken.
As for the music industry they will destroy anyone who is not willing to play ball. Just look at Britney Spears. Now i know what you are all thinking
"shes Nuts" right? I dont think so. See artists are signed to 10 year contracts which basically state that they are the property of their label for
said amount of time. This means what they wear, say do, eat, poop and everything else is dictated by their label. They are basically walking
advertisements. They are continually forced to churn out CD's and promote products and lifestyles untill their contract is up. Britney most likely
violated her contract by becoming preggo and trying to live a normal life and the industry ruined her. Look at the ridicule and destruction of her
career by just being pregnant alone! This also works in the movie industry to. Actors and musicians that fall out of line either die mysteriously or
have their lives brutally destroyed though either drug or sex scandals or some form of criminal behaviour. But these people do it to themselves right?
True but most musicians and actors actively engage in sex scandals and criminal behaviours and consume drugs, the only ones hwo get caught are the
ones who dont play ball or have outlasted their usefullness.

Extremely intriguing theory there about Britney Spears. It'd be great to see some discussion about that particular point in this thread too (or
perhaps its own thread). Now that I think of it, there's a disproportionately high death rate in the music business.
Personally I don't buy Alicia Keys' conspiracy theory. I think it's simply a case of gangsta-rap = big money, and the corporate fat cats at the top
(who have no interest in the music might I add) are pushing it as far as it will go. They're not trying to get kids to kill each other, they
just want to make as much money as possible and therefore don't care what knock-on effect the promotion of gangsta-rap has.
As a side note, I wish more black kids would turn their backs on the gangsta element of rap. Among white racists, the depravity and materialism of
gangsta rap is among the biggest targets when criticizing black people. It'd be great if that ammunition were taken away from them. Unfortunately,
I've only met a handful of black youths who aren't deeply obsessed with 'gangsta' culture.

Are you saying Blacks stole Gangsta Rap from the White Man and made it better?

Although "the man" is certainly not responsible for creating gangster rap for the purpose of killing black people, there was and is an agenda by
record companies to not sign hip-hop artists that are politically motivated, intelligent, and have a good message in their music. All that was left
over was rapping about crime.
Now seeing as these "rap stars" are (whether directly or not) role models for many young (fatherless) black kids with nobody to look up to, and
these same kids listen to the rap music and relate to their stories of crime and poverty and accept it as the way of getting themselves off of the
streets.
It's a shame that these urban youths don't have more respectable role models to look up to. I mean they have sports stars, but not many are good at
sports. Remember Will Smith, Run DMC, KRS-1, even Tupac in his early days before he turned "gangsta"? They rapped to spread positive messages.
There are still rappers like that today, like Immortal Technique (albeit slightly more offensive), but they will tell you just like I am telling you
that major record companies WON'T sign intelligent, positive hip hop music.

I have noticed that there are a little bit more love, romantic type songs from young people these days, instead of gangsta crap. So I think things are
changing.

Why should this suprise anyone?
This has been going on for years and years.
Blah, Blah, Blah. Yeah I've heard it before, the white man is responsible for everything that happens to the black man.....enough already.
Instead of saying crap like this, why don't successful black people do something useful.
I don't know, like:
Promote education.
Stay married to one woman.
Stop gang violence.
promote values and ideals.
give back to the community - in a positive way.
Stop the exploitation of women in music videos.
How about Black people do something good and promote good works instead of pointing the finger at the "white man" and blaming us for their lot in
life.?????????????????
