Police officer has told FOXNews that no one can enter the buildings.

The warning is "air-con orange".

The aircraft could be shot down.

Yep I just saw this on news...they are cautiously reporting that the involvement of a plane is not yet confirmed....or at least the news does not want to fill us in yet.....Maybe it's another Iraqi plane like the one in Florida.....humm! Probably a new pilot who got confused!

Apparently the problem was a private plane going into the airspace and not communicating with the authorities lol

This kind of thing happens quite frequently.

They spot those light aircrafts pretty quickly! I wonder why they have so much trouble seeing 757s..

Wow.....it says fighter jets are escorting the plane from the area, and they had coastguard choppers there to intercept it to.....so they CAN get aircraft there quickly when they want to?

a friend of mine is a pilot and he was flying solo from Philly to Florida for the first time in his plane and he was out over the ocean and he could no longer see land and he started to get a bit freaked out so he started heading west to see where he was. As he started to see land he hear he was entering restricted airspace and he got a bit more scared and didn't respond as he wanted to figure out where he was. He flew west some more and the chatter on the radio was of the sort that should have alerted him to respond but the fear was still working so he ignored things like "we will not hesitate to shoot you down." etc.

He then found himself between two fighters and that was when he realized he was in DC airspace. He got on the radio, apologized profusely, explained his situation etc and he was escorted out of the dc area and he was back on his way. The last thing he heard was the price tag to the taxpayers for his stupidity in not responding.

This was back in the late 90's

I'm sure they've probably upped the air security in the area. It hasn't always been that way.

Remember, a light aircraft actually DID crash onto the White House lawn during Bill Clinton's term in office.
