I agree. You probably listen to Savage or Jones or one of them. Great job.

I suggest you do what I plan to do. Work hard, get lots of money, get into the system, run for office, climb the latter, get some definitive proof of the wrong doings, then stab 'em in the back and watch them fall.

Quite true. Most of the world isn't what you see on TV. I get a lot of foreigners who come here and claim "we've no idea Malaysia was so developed," or "we thought you guys lived in stilt houses," and so on and so forth.

Issues such as homosexuality and racism fall under the "Political Correctness" section. "Reverse" racism falls under there as well.

The border problem falls under the "Political Corruption" section.

Racism and homosexuality are nowhere near the problems that the media makes them out to be. I have made this point before in regards to people's comments of how "racist" the south is. Yet, everywhere I go here their are interracial couples and VAST diversity in just about every workplace you go to. Black people and white people, for the most part, get along just fine these days and the only real problems that seem to start between them around here anymore start when the NAACP is in town to remind black people that their great great great granddaddy might have been a slave. However, since I don't want this to turn into a race related thread, I'll only say this one last thing in regards to race. The NAACP and the Black Panther party are just as big of a hate group today as the Ku Klux Klan was in the early to middle part of this century.

As far as homosexuality goes, I think the main problem they face these days is NOT being discriminated against because they are homosexual.....BUT being discriminated against because they just can't damn help but remind us (on a near constant basis) that they are homosexual. Homosexuals naturally make straight people a bit uncomfortable, not because they are gay, but because we are straight and most of us find it disgusting yet SOME of them go out of their way to make sure we know just how happily gay they are.

I could very well be wrong, but gay pride parades en masse and the perpetual need some of them feel to wear their "Gay and Proud" labels daily are far more detrimental to gays than just some idiot who knows they are gay and is out to "get them". And just so you know, if I ever see a "STRAIGHT AND PROUD" parade, I'll find that quite stupid and pathetic as well. What's the moral of this story? If you aren't looking for unnecessary attention, don't bring unnecessary attention to yourself.

Personally, I think blacks, whites and gays of any color (so long as they are American citizens) need to get together and worry more about the illegal immigrants in this country than we do about each other.

Now, moving on.

I believe a good point was made when the bastardization of child discipline was brought into the picture. As many of you know, I absolutely LOATHE child abusers, they make me (f-bomb)ing sick! BUT, discipline is a necessity if you hope to raise a child that actually CARES ABOUT and UNDERSTANDS right from wrong.

The problem in this country is, you have a lot of people who either don't have kids, or have kids that are complete garbage telling the rest of us that we should have our kids taken away for popping their hand/butt when they reach for the pot of boiling water on the stove. It is PATHETIC! These people seem to think that the best solution for childhood discipline is to take a 1 year old and put them in time-out or some crap like that. I'm sorry guys, but taking a BABY and throwing them off in seclusion is FAR MORE detrimental to their overall health and mental wellbeing than spanking them. Spanking, when done effectively and not overdone, is a very effective tool when teaching your children right from wrong. It is also a very good way to make sure your kids don't hurt themselves when you turn your back on them for a few minutes. A parent that truly loves their kids, will NEVER have a problem spanking them. Why do I say this? Because a parent that TRULY loves their kids will NEVER overdo it and they will ONLY do it when it's to TEACH the child. Spanking kids out of anger is one of the worst mistakes a parent can make, other than never disciplining your child and giving them everything they want when they want it.

That being said, child discipline ALSO falls under the "Political Correctness" heading.

From this point forward, please refrain from turning this thread into a racism based thread. There has been far too much talk of that subject already. If it is spoken of, please keep it in the context of the thread, IE: How it relates to political correctness.

The reason I placed apathy at number 1 is because apathy is responsible for all of the others in the list. Therefore, it is the root causes of most of our problems in this country.

Thank all of you (yes, even those of you I disagree with) for your opinions and for contributing to this thread. I was actually quite surprised to wake up and see this on the front page of ATS.

Savage; Not anymore.
Jones; Sometimes.

While Alex does a much better job of getting the word out, they are both out for their own gain and for "celebrity".

As far as Hilary goes, you nailed that one haha.

I'm more for being part of/heading the people's militia when it's inevitably created than running for office.

Forget portayal. Men own this country. Is that a bad thing? No. But it's rather telling that inconvenient facts like these you choose to exclude from your memory. As for the media, most female portrayal is based on beauty not individual merit. Who is their beauty for, again?

Two things - violence against juvenile, women, ANYone is unacceptable. Any parent that speaks of their child as a "piece of crap" doesn't deserve to be a parent.

Very good post, have a star from me.

You know, it occurs to me that in regards to child discipline, or lack thereof, not spanking the child when he does something wrong may give the child the impression that the parents don't care. Some kids are naughty because they're seeking attention. If they get the impression the parents don't care, they'd also eventually think the world doesn't care. And in the end they'd grow up to be people who don't care.

They'd end up being full of apathy.

Could lack of child discipline be the cause of all this apathy?

I'm not ready to call it a government plot, but I do think it is what our culture has become. Our culture has become the fast and easy. I want it now and with least effort!! In your case that is typical in America for it is much easier to prescribe a bunch of pills that don’t really fix the problem but actually make you not care about the problem anymore than it is to send you to behavior specialist and nutritional counseling, and then wait for your body to recuperate.

Those at fault are not only the doctor, but the person with the problem and society as a whole.

A very excellent point this could really be a root cause of apathy. As well as the overwhelming nature of the many problems of society and the ridiculous amount of useless information fed to us by the mainstream media: celeb gossip, latest polls, lates studies, medical or health info, product marketing and all of the useless analysis by talking heads on t.v..

"There are black supremacists, and there are white supremacists. Let's see you bash the latter in the same breath."

Oooh oohhh I can do this one!!

Black supremacists and white supremacists actively show us the ignorance that flows through certain sects of our society. However, while white supremacy is generally looked upon as a stigma upon the American culture, black supremacy finds its way to television screens on a near daily basis and without much, if any, vocal disagreement from the masses. While both of these "philosophies" are equally ignorant, black supremacy is openly embraced everytime Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton or Louis Farrakhan are allowed to spew their bile to a world wide audience via the medium of television or radio. Recent examples would be their ridiculous and ignorant defense of Michael Vick and the case of the "hooker that would cry rape".

Though people attempt to differentiate between white and black supremacists, they are in fact the same. They are both groups that actively try to promote a non issue involving their particular races' and "discrimination" that is supposedly hefted upon their race for the purpose of self gain. People like David Duke and Jesse Jackson have been, for years, working to keep the tensions between the white and black race high for their own personal benefit. They play on natural differences between the races to make sure the belief of "hate" is maintained so they can continue to keep themselves in the spotlight and keep the money flowing into their own pockets.

Some of the talk in this thread alone is evidence enough that their true "plan" is working quite effectively as certain members seem to have such a difficult time leaving this issue off of a thread where it does not belong.

Racial tension as a whole is only an issue if it's allowed to be an issue. I suggest that instead of perpetuating it every chance you get, you focus your efforts on Jesse Jackson, David Duke and their cronies and attempting to get these criminals out of the limelight.

And again, please don't hijack this thread in order to make it a "race" issue. There is a thread around here somewhere called "Are you a racist?" that would be just fine for this argument if you feel the need to keep it going.

Thanks,
Jasn

I see this as the top issue we need to fix first. We do need a work force from Mexico but do we need 12 million illegals to do it? Whatever they are doing to help our economy is being buried by the burden they but on our system. Build the wall and start an identification program for everyone that comes into our country on a 6 month visa. These visas would be for the workers only and not their whole family.

To get the illegals out of the country the most important step is to have the visa program up and running well then put HEAVY fines on any business that uses illegals over legals. This would encourage the illegals to go back and become legal to get a job, and with a flow of legals coming in the business that need them would not be over burdened to change.

The whole reason people started coming to America was to escape persecution. So why should we persecute gays, lesbians and bisexuals who were born of this country (or any other country) is beyond me. Ever heard of equality? If your being called a bigot cause of this, maybe you should do some internal reflection... you might actually be one, and if that bothers you... CHANGE!!!!!!

Yes, there are racial extremists on both sides. There are black people who hate white people and want them all dead, just like there are white people who hate black people. ANY RACISM IS WRONG!!!

That doesn't mean racist people try to use the race card to get out of getting in trouble. Like saying... You are punishing me for something I did wrong cause I'm black/white/muslim/gay/female/male/fat/thin/eating figs... Accept it's not all about what you are but what you did.

ROTFLMAO!!!! Women are god-like? What part of the US do you live in, cause I need to go there. Seriously, the only accomplishments women get recognized is for being beautiful. It's still a Man's world, and probably will be. How many women do you hear about that did something fantastic, that aren't beautiful in some way. Even Hilary Clinton isn't anything to ugly to look at. How many fat or ugly women do you see in the media?

The time do you see men portrayed as powerless simpletons, is in comedy shows. I wonder why? CAUSE IT'S LAUGHABLE!!!!!

Speaking as a person who nannied for years, let me tell you something... your so off with this, you are not even in the same universe! Disciplining children by taking privileges away, sending them to their room, etc, is not considered Archaic. Only physical discipline is. You can teach with out literally pounding it into them. Kids aren't as stupid as many make them out to be. If you explain what they did was wrong, and why.. they feel guilt, just like any other adult. Oh, btw, I don't see adults getting paddled for doing bad things... they get put in Jail... aka Adult Time Out!

Um, what? Everyone I know listens to what others have to say about their views, only when it's outrageous and silly do they ignore them. If your being ignored... maybe you should think about that!

So this in one way or another is common knowledge to many people , hell even the younger generation. everyone know it but chooses to look the other way.

even the very people who point it out here at ats and other places. its like the silent scream, only those who want to hear it will. But the point is Can any of use honestly go out side right now and ask start moving towards change? well its a little difficult really. If its not you holding you back its some ones else. close family members, the law, lack of direction.

If you want to change this country people will have to die in numbers not just at the top but in every aspect. as long as we have MTV and Martha Stewart and everyday crap we don’t need in our live we will always be this way.

I want to go out and do something make a point, change the world but someone’s always there to tell me I can’t and to just live my life and forget about all the crap in the world. Honestly I’m scared just like every one else. But if there were a few who weren’t I’d be a little less scared.

so what we going to do, like I said some people will have to die to turn some heads. Some good and some bad. If it was a fight between the good and the bad the bad have been winning for a very long time.

nuff said!!!
