This passage from John 1:1 has always moved me for some reason.

I've gotten away from the bible and religion of any kind over the past 15 years or so. But something compelled me to re-read this passage, and of course I read many others as well once I started.

I'm not a holy roller or bible thumper by any means.

But I feel as though I need to familiarize myself with these passages as they will be needed soon.

Soon.

God bless you all.

Holy roller don't have to be. Bible thumper? It's the only way
to know him. And he is worth knowing.

Never had a chance to post that one before so I jumped
on it. lol

In the Beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

Here is the problem i have with the statement from a logical standpoint.

Words require sounds, and sound, requires a medium to propagate.

Hence there must have been something before the word.

True.

Unless you're God I guess.

Then you can do whatever you want, n'est pas?

Just spitballing here...

Just spitballing also buddy.

I suppose space-time is your plaything if you're omnipotent/omnipresent.

Then again an argument could be made that the big fellow may be bound by his own universal laws aka cause and effect are the colour of the day in universe.

Here's another way. God has no beginning he is the Alpha and the Omega.
The beginning and the end. So the word (sound vibration) was the beginning
because GOD always was even before the beginning

Serious question, if I write a word or think of a word it makes no sound. Or am I missing a specific definition of the word?

The translation is bad from Hebrew to Greek to English in the current form of the Bible.

A spoken word is a sound, yes.

A sound has a frequency.

Our planet has a frequency...

The base atmospheric electromagnetic resonant frequency is 7.83 Hz. This means our atmosphere is continuously resonating with a radio frequency of 7.83 Hz, along with progressively weaker harmonics at around 14.3, 20.8, 27.3, and 33.8 Hz. These oscillations are called the Schumann resonances.

It is currently slowing down.

Either way, if you think, or write a word, you are still going to require a medium to do so, like a brain or paper for instance, possibly even a soul, but you see where I'm going with it.

Schumann Resonance.

Yeah we're touching on that with omnipresence.

As to "before the beginning" well that would seem to depend on the likes of context.

Schumann Resonance.

Yes.

Other religions equate the beginning of everything as "the sound of a bell".

Current scientists call it "The Big Bang" theory, oddly enough.

Don't go into the Schumann Resonance Theory rabbit hole!

It will cause some loss of sleep.

Implication being mainly in the areas of atmospheric physics and neuroscience.

Everything is frequency and vibration if indeed the current iteration of the universe holds weight i suppose.

As to rabbit holes feel down a few in my time since the 90s.

Sleep won't be an issue its 4:22am here in the UK and I'm rather sloshed.

Bolding mine.

Happy Friday!!!!

But if you wander off into frequencies then you will be perturbed about what frequency the human body runs on and then what frequencies are out there...

Enjoy your slosh!

And talk to you next time...

This is what inspired my handle/user name. Harmonic resonance and standing wave are really interesting things to into.

The passage in the beginning was the word is extremely insightful, not only do we have frequency and vibration associated with a word, we also have thought and meaning.

Different meaning of the word "Word". It's a title for Christ, not words like that are spoken. It's from the term LOGOS. Logos is the Greek word transcribed as “reason,” “word,” “speech,” or “principle.” In Greek philosophy, it related to a universal, divine reason or the mind of God. The title "The Word", one of many for Jesus, meaning He is the communication of the Father.

Well the word certainly can, as pointed out, be interpreted as an metaphor of the underlying vibrational reality.

But it really doesn't need to go that far down. the word as a means of communication has tremendous power in creating fixed limited realities.

I'm thinking some additional footnotes may be in order FlyersFan.

But that's handy.

Also worth consideration that the phrase "In the beginning" from the Bible, specifically from the opening verse of the Gospel of John in the New Testament, seems to imply a prior state or existence.

The problem being, the phrase is open to theological interpretation, the same as the rest of the religious text in question, and that's both testaments.
