Of course and that is why I will not refer some quotes like one from Benjamin franklin which sounds great but had nothing to do with the 2A. However, the founders have been very clear they never intended the populace to be disarmed and although through time the National Guard has come to take much of the intended role of the militia it was never meant to bar the citizens from owning their own arms. In fact, if you have looked into the past writings of our founders you should know that the present military foundation and institution would horrify them. That and many other things. If you were honest with yourself you would know they would probably be locked up for trying to overthrow the present government. And even though we have already fallen to lows as far as the intended vision they collectively had we do have the 2A that I believe has been a deterrent and continues to be a deterrent of this countries further decline.

Holy crap dude, I thought you knew about paragraphs and stuff.

But again, I have never, ever, once said the populace should be disarmed.

"As bad as this is, it could have been much, much worse, as I think everyone will become aware of here as more information unfolds," Carper said.

The US Constitution doesn’t define anything .

The Constitution states what the 2nd amendment is .

The supreme court define’s what the 2nd amendment means .

They’ve ruled on this issue countless times and have always asserted the position that individuals are entitled to firearms .

Most recently in DC VS Heller and McDonald VS Chicago

Both of those cases strengthen individuals right to possess firearms .

Fair enough, best ignore me tonight as I'm at the point of smashed and there is a reasonable chance I have no idea what I'm talking about and could easily not follow the conversation.

Not to worry, as neither are required to participate in the same old pointless, circular and utterly meaningless wankfests these sorts of threads inevitably become.

If you like, you could simply copy/paste something someone said fifty years ago into a post and no one would ever notice.

In fact, I strongly suspect that's pretty much what most people do these days.

Incorrect. It defines the role of government, among other things.

A militia could mean just one person.

This second amendment is preventing people from "Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness". Don't agree, just ask the 29 people who died yesterday. Oh wait, you can't.

I guess there's nothing we can do other than just sit back and let the mass shootings continue. Oh well.

How does it (2nd ammendment) define an individuals right to use a firearm...seperately to its entitlement to bear such?

Absolutely wrong

The supreme court is the guardian and interpreter of the constitution.

Just because something hasn’t been challenged yet is no gotcha moment sorry .
