The House released a draft proposal that would see the Secretary of the Army's travel budget limited to 70% of what it currently is, until the Army justifies the FARA program, similar to what they did with the FLRAA program.

You would have thought they would have the engine package ready before building the prototypes.

Can’t help but look back through military aviation history and think about all of the potentially incredible airplanes that were either cancelled, severely delayed, or took years to mature due to failures in the engine side of the equation.

It seems to be a real problem outside of the US as well. The J-20 for instance… Beautiful airplane but its performance appears to be severely limited by the less than ideal engines they’re shoehorning into them. On the one hand, I’m glad China still can’t get engines right, but on the other…man how I would love to see what that design COULD do with enough power and everything else a good engine brings to the finished product.

heh.

This is Sikorsky's competition to lose. We'll see if they are as incompetent as Boeing these days.

The Army just announced FARA is dead, the UH-60V will end next year, ITEP is delayed, and older UAV systems will be divested.

Just saw and came to see if it made it here yet.

Interesting shift that begs the question… WHY??? Do they plan to shelf these for later use or are we going to see the SSDD (Same Sh_t, Different Day) approach where they just restart the same programs in 5 years but start from square one?

I will never understand these sudden, abrupt shifts in acquisitions.

It was expected. The previous commander that was pushing these programs retired recently. His replacement doesn’t want them, so they’re gone.
