There is no reason for Pompeo to lie. There is every reason for Maduro to lie as he always does.

Maduro is losing support and power and he knows it. But he has to try to dissuade Venezuelans from joining the "coup." I am not the one "laping that sh!t up like kool-aid..." I would hope that in the event of an attempted coup, Trump would have an escape plan too.

We might never know for certain how many Venezuelans have been murdered directly by the government of Maduro and Chavez because such figures are hidden within the amount of murders that have increased during the reign of both dictators.

In 1999 when Chavez took power there were 4,555 homicides in Venezuela, and by 2009 there were 16,047 homicides according to the OVV.

Out of these there were 5,535 cases whose victims were categorized as being killed for resisting authority. In other words, those 5,535 murders is the figure given officially by the Venezuelan government of protesters they murdered in 2017 alone. Since Chavez and Maduro disarmed the populace, but armed Chavistas and ordered the police and military to kill some protesters to try to stop other protests, and since the only people armed are those loyal to Chavez/Maduro, the increase in murders in Venezuela is directly tied to the repression against protesters.

Those of you, leftists every one of you, who want to claim that it is safer in Venezuela are denying the truth because NONE OF YOU want to admit what your utopia truly does in a country.

The only chance the people of Venezuela have is sadly to sabotage the state where they can find it. Occupy everything that makes Maduro's life still enjoyable. Run it completely into the ground, make it uncomfortable and no more profitable for his supporters.
Then there can be change. Venezuela has to burn to the ground if the people want freedom and democracy. Everything else is just a bandaid.

That is all very true.......but.......under current UN Regulations on migration, its simply easier for the people to just leave. I have Venezuelan friends, Doctor and his wife. He practiced for years in Caracas but maintains a home he lives in now in Miami.

The big problem now is time and mobilization. The UN is so slow to recognize a "failed" state and even slower to intervene that by the time the so-called International Community does respond, they roll into ghost towns and cities.........everyone had to fee just to stay alive and feed the kids.
