Apart from replacing it, the fact that GPS can be lost in just a couple of mm of water, putting a GPS device in a grip would be really pointless. Our hands have way too much liquidy stuff in them.

It’s actually really easy to test. Get a small towel, get it damp, hold it over a GPS device and watch it lose its signal. That’s why, when driving in wooded areas during or after rainfall, you lose signal. There’s enough water on a leaf to stop it, so imagine a hand.

Yup. Been readin' up on this. GPS isn't even remotely the be all, end all, that some seem to think. Easily spoofed, or cancelled out entirely.

Exactly. Some people think it’s something infallible and will work anywhere at anytime.

If I was a cop, I wouldn’t put my faith in GPS to make my firearm turn on/off. All Mr or Mrs Crim would have to do is take them to a known GPS dead spot. It would be like the folk in the 90s holding up their cellphones trying to get a signal, but without the “can you hear me now? What about now? Hello?”.

Well you see they watched an episode of NCIS/CSI and think that its real world stuff they show. As a scientist I laugh at their technicians doing things like "running a mas spec on ceramics" (you can't burn ceramics, that is why spaceships are clad in them) or "Getting a DNA profile in hours" .... I wish, try over night for a really low quality one, after a day or so of working up a sample.

People think that through the wonders of technology we can do magic.

Oh and if the guns GPS chip is anywhere where a human body can shield it, good luck spotting it

Yep. Some people think everything on TV is how things really work. They forget that it’s for entertainment and if they showed how it really was, or how long and tedious it was, it wouldn’t make a very good show.

If they can't take our guns away then they will reduce our ability to buy what guns we want by limiting them to smart guns. Weapons they can switch on and off via your own internet.

TPTB are years ahead of all of you on this issue, that is why you can't see it coming or refuse too. They have had over 60 years implementing Laws and running the scenarios as to what they want and in the end they want our guns, thereby taking away are only defense against the Govt which is vastly looking like a socialist democracy one and not the republic, of which it hasn't been since the civil war. You do know the govt officials all live off of us? The Marnacies and Dictators and Socialist govts live off their people as well. Many don't know this but the gun control issue was the real issue behind the revolutionary war. These are the last real "Americans," who will be sacrificed by their own congressmen, President, and "Justice" Department in the name of so called "Peace Keeping," for the good of all humanity everywhere.

He went and replaced a known system with flaws (GPS) with a known system with even more flaws (WiFi).

WiFi (as you’ve said) is well known to be unreliable. Weather can mess it up. Objects can mess it up. People can mess it up (physically and by easily getting into them).

The idea that WiFi could do anything like what the OP wants (reliably) is pure fantasy.
