I was here for years before I even realized the purpose of stars and that I could star posts I especially liked. How sad is that? And until a couple
of months ago I had no idea what the little cup and lightning bolt icons on people's profiles were, either.
And to the OP--It never occurred to me, till I read this thread today, to look and see how many stars (if any) I had. I didn't care. And I still
don't. I come here to read interesting things and to find news I might not see otherwise (like the FL homeless being given the choice of go to shelter
or go to a psych ward). Anyone who's influenced by the number of stars a poster has isn't here to read and discuss--they're spending too much time
looking at avatars and not enough on the words the person behind the avatar has written. (Just my opinion, of course.)
