what about fixing the star system on ATS

I was here for years before I even realized the purpose of stars and that I could star posts I especially liked. How sad is that? And until a couple of months ago I had no idea what the little cup and lightning bolt icons on people's profiles were, either.

And to the OP--It never occurred to me, till I read this thread today, to look and see how many stars (if any) I had. I didn't care. And I still don't. I come here to read interesting things and to find news I might not see otherwise (like the FL homeless being given the choice of go to shelter or go to a psych ward). Anyone who's influenced by the number of stars a poster has isn't here to read and discuss--they're spending too much time looking at avatars and not enough on the words the person behind the avatar has written. (Just my opinion, of course.)

You know that the star bug is to cover the real ATS Star Conspiracy. And that is why exactly do so many ATS members have the word star as part of their username? No one, not even Phage has come up with a viable explanation for it. Just look at the memberlist and do a search. Very unnaturally prevalent...


And if Mandela Effect is more your thing, then in my timeline people complained more about the one star bandit than inflated star counts because that dude would wreck your star average...history on that was that you could rate posts 1-5 stars and part of the inflation bug (why there is a join date component) is partly due to those old multiple five star posts. We only see one star today from different members but some of those old posts could have five for each star you see.
