The ARC needs to be disbanded. It was created by LBJ. Has it improved the poverty levels in any one of those counties?

It's like someone once said, "Doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result is insanity." It's time for the insanity to end.

NOTE TO THE CIVICS IMPAIRED: Trump can't cut any budget, he can only propose.

That is a excellent street level definition of how it really works.
But sadly, the Lobotomites were born without eyes and ears.

Trump is going to reopen the coal mines, now we just need to have all those who were awarded a Social Security disability recertified...I suspect that more than half of the recipients do not need my tax dollars.

Fracking has overtaken the coal industry..

The Coal industry was on it's deathbed long before the Clean Water Act that Trump repealed.

6 Coal fired power plants have ceased operations since he was elected and 40 more are scheduled for decommissioning..

It has to do with technology, not policy...Coal Mining jobs are not coming back.

No
It has to do with weaponizing the epa.

instituteforenergyresearch.org...

More than 72 gigawatts (GW) of electrical generating capacity have already, or are now set to retire because of the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) regulations. The regulations causing these closures include the Mercury and Air Toxics Standards (colloquially called MATS, or Utility MACT)[1], proposed Cross State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR)[2], and the proposed regulation of carbon dioxide emissions from existing power plants.

T boone pickens and his band of natural gas and windfarm cronies are the ones who made bank.
You do understand wind power can be had for -$26.00 MWH?
That means they can afford to PAY you to take their electricity because of the GOVERNMENT subsidies.

As to your fracking comment, ask the people with flammable water how great fracking is for the environment.

Well, normally folks would go back to work - because that is exactly what they now can do. No hand-outs, but jobs. Jobs, jobs, jobs.

That is difference here. JOBS. No meal coupons needed here.

Exactly. Typical government bureaucracy and lack of accountability. Never actually fix the problem. Just like with War on Poverty, Dept of Education, etc. Been around 50 years spending trillions. Folks are still poor and still can't read.

I would argue that ARC prevented rural Appalachia from becoming like 3rd word rural communities..Via education opportunity, highways and access to technology resources..

But sure..Cut them off..

Trump has NOTHING in common with the marks he conned into voting for his Billionaire lifestyle..

The coming years in America are going to be painful, but needed..It will be a bloodbath in 2020..likely 2018 as well.

The average Appalachian might not have the same opportunities as most, but their circumstances demand they have above average common sense and smarts. Trump is screwing the people that elected him.

Where does it say it is being eliminated? This program has been around since the 60's. So, for almost 60's years tax payers have been funding the 'saving' of these dozen states?

The ARC doesn't appear to really do anything that the EDC can't do for the people in those communities. The counties could directly get money if they need it by applying for grants through other agencies. Lots of those programs actually burn up a lot of money paying salaries and wages for the people running the program or they will spend their money on things that really do not need to be done in the first place. I see a lot of that going on everywhere. Tearing something down and rebuild it does not improve anything many times, it just creates jobs for local people. If they are doing something that is really needed, which usually never seems to happen, then I would say they are doing good. It seems these grants just stimulate the economy and the money is wasted a lot of times.

The government can just boost money to the EDC and save a lot of wages and overhead of this agency.

I do not have all the information on this particular agency, but I did read a lot at their site.

Some links of problems with that agency.

The reason that area is having problems is because of Obama's pushing against coal use. Coal mines destroy less land and water than the Fracking he promoted. The coal mines do not cause earthquakes in communities that now get them from fracking. Coal powered powerplants can be efficient, and up here, a coal powerplant stocks lots of coal, they are switching to natural gas, if there is a problem with a gas line, we have no power. Problems can also occur with the main transmission lines coming into this area if we do not have a reliable power plant.

It seems that our infrastructure for energy is getting more and more risky.

Stick with that EFF-EM attitude.

If Trump cared a rats-ass he would declare tax-free zones in Appalachia for Manufacturing..Tesla would be making batteries there and Apple would be making iPhones....But that means sharing the tax revenue from DCs Golden Goose and he needs that to fund growing the Military for his next big idea.

Kansas' highest court on Friday cleared a major obstacle to the long-delayed construction of a big, new coal-fired power plant, rejecting an effort by an environment group to force the state to regulate emissions linked to climate change.

You are not the only one fighting for jobs.

The state Supreme Court upheld a 2014 decision by the Kansas Department of Health and Environment to give Sunflower Electric Power Corp . the go-ahead for its $2.8 billion project. The utility wants to build an 895-megawatt plant adjacent to an existing one outside Holcomb, in southwestern Kansas.

abcnews.go.com...

This has been ongong since 2010.
With no good reason. This facility has the best available control technology and would be cleaner than old natural gas generating stations.

Well folks it's no big freaking surprise for me. The fact he didn't put Saudi Arabia in the list is a huge warning bell. This latest incident in the Appalachia confirms Trump only cared about the almighty dollar.

Investing in Automation, tech, industrial, auto manufacturing, and finally funneling money away from agencies like the EPA to feed the military.
Whew, didn't see that coming.

Why?

That makes no sense.

But then again...Seriously..every effen trump supporter ends up making goof-tard statements and arguments in defense of his insanity..

As for you...Your STUPID contribution to this thread was "Obama did more damage to minority's then all modern presidents combined. "

You have to have a giant cist on your brain to think that relevant to the topic..

Or is that just what a Trump Supporter is required to post?
