Actually the tabulated results don't even split out the counts of the people surveyed. It was c1,200 people in total and the headline related to those that said they only watch a single news source. This is most likely a very low number who will only watch or listen to one outlet from several options.

And yes, the questions do matter. People know more about what they care about. No questions on immigration, none on trade, none on second amendment issues, none on abortion, none on education. There is also the obvious further investigation required to make any sense of this survey - what was being reported on these channels at the time and how much was being reported relating to the questions asked?

The conclusion drawn is propaganda in it's purest form and traps those subject to confirmation bias, condemning those that eat it up to live in a false reality that leads to shocks like the election result.

Liberals don't seem to be very good at understanding polls and digging further. It's why they are prime targets for propaganda.

CNN, MsNBC, CBS, ABC, and NBC--not to mention other outfits, such as Spanish language, BBC (I don't know how many folks here in the US actually get BBC, I do, so I include them), Al Jazzira, and the list is endless all slant more or less left. I venture to guess that it's fairly close to even...don't know for sure if that's the case, I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.

I watch a good many of them, because as is often the case, the truth of the matter lies in the middle of the slants (left or right).

Not sure why we should expect them to show us "truth", or factual news--when has any news source ever not had an editorial slant? Can't really think of a time. It'd be nice sure. But we do have brains, don't we? If I can sit down and browse the various outlets and get at least a glimmer of what's truly happening, so too can everyone else, if they care to take the time to do so. If I can, usually anyway, separate the wheat from the chaff, I don't think it's unreasonable to think others can, too. There's no way on God's green that I'm the only one capable of doing it.

Even if we did get nothing but the facts...we'd still be where we are today. Arguing about the why's, and the wherefore's...it's what we do. Maddow and her ilk, left and right, would still spin it to suit the narrative they want to put out there...and you and I would still discuss (we don't argue, we discuss.) what it all means in the context of our daily lives.

So for you, you can watch the left leaning stuff and you don't think of it as propaganda because you really don't have to be convinced all that much. You were already inclined to fall in line with that type of reasoning on things.

I disagree with quite a bit that comes from the Left and Left-biased media. It's not a matter of convincing. It's a matter of technique and tactics. There is an art to propaganda and the Left has not been very good at it.

You watch a right leaning source and it surely will seem like propaganda to you because it violates your internal schema of how the world and its issues should operate. It seems like its trying to feed your a line of poorly disguised crap.

It only seems like propaganda when they use specific terms, gestures, tactics and such. It's not about agreeing or disagreeing with them. It's about how it's presented.

And then you see the numbers and wonder how many people can fall for it

I don't wonder why. I know why.

Well, the reason is that a lot of people lean right, so we see it the same way you view left leaning sources, and we see THEM the same way you view the so-called vast right-wing machine.

You view anything that contradicts your bias as propaganda. I do not. I look at the application of the art of propaganda.

This poll is mainly about Obama. The only part about Clinton has to do with the popular vote, a fact, though OBVIOUSLY not what decides an election.

When a poll conducted in a country of over 300 million only surveys 1000, or less, folks, inaccuracy is going to be rampant.

One person out of 300,000 isn't conducive to accuracy. Any accuracy is going to be strictly chance.

Depending on the person, most outlets that do not espouse a hard-line Right view is considered biased to the Left.

There was a time when journalism was more "moral" in their approach, but that was well before my time.

But we do have brains, don't we? If I can sit down and browse the various outlets and get at least a glimmer of what's truly happening, so too can everyone else, if they care to take the time to do so.

That requires time and a sense of honesty. In general, people want their instant gratification to serve their confirmation bias. It's lazy, but satisfying.
