Do people honestly believe that students will go Eric Cartman and fake being trans just to use the other gender's bathroom? Most people wouldn't even WANT to do so (can you imagine the looks a ''male'' dressed guy would get it he'd wander into the girl's bathroom like that? Or a girl in the guy's bathroom? It's not a very realistic scenario at all. And people talk, creepy people get ostracised soon enough), and if you creep on people you'll most likely get reported and shamed for it and get a talk with the teacher. Just because trans people are different that doesn't mean that they're sexually freaky pervs who're just trying to peek into other people's stalls, and the phenomenon of ''I'll say that I feel that I'm a girl so that I can creep on girls'' is not something I've ever heard of before.

If there are a few special needs students of the type discussed above, let them use the staff restrooms.

Separate but Equal

It's worked so well in the past.

You do understand that human society across the board seperated the sexes for a very obvious and very valid reason thousands of years ago right?

Sorry, I forgot, asking the mentally ill questions only sane folks could understand is a non sequitor.

Whoah, if that's the way you talk to people you're in no place to claim any high ground...

Says the genius that doesn't believe anyone would ever say they feel like a girl today so they can access the girls shower....

And there is no such thing as porn either right, I mean no man has ever wanted to peep on females bodies right?

How far does one have to jump the shark to realise they are arguing from a bat# crazy POV?

Your calling people mentaly ill bud, must be a sad life for someone whos scared of using a public bathroom.

Since you demonstrate a complete lack of understanding as to what "gender identity" is actual defined as, you could probably give us the answer to your question.

I would be willing to wager any amount of money that were some hairy ape of a man to announce "I'm a woman today" for the sole purpose of using a women's locker room, he would wind up arrested and lose whatever court battle ensued.

Since announcing one is feeling like a woman this Tuesday is not, strangely enough, what gender identity means.

I'm just curious as to which law came first... the one that says transgender folks can use whichever bathroom they choose, or the one that says transgenders have to use the one that matches their anatomy?

I think it lacks realism to think that teachers will just go ''oh sure'' when some teenage guy who shows no signs of being trans asks them permission to use the girl's shower. If so, you'd get a lot of upset parents and the teenager's parents would be most definitely called by the school about what happened. It's not very difficult to realise that certain kids might want to abuse something like this and so do teachers.

I don't deny that people want to look at naked bodies, but that isn't the same as thinking that any kid will just do this, or even a lot. Given how trans people are treated over here and pretty much everywhere, the shame attached wouldn't make it worth it anyway. If a student is actually trans, it's more likely that they're mortified (and most likely, bullied and harrassed) rather than thinking ''yay! Can finally creep on girls/guys now!'' Chances are that this kid will just get shunned, at best.

I think they should really just go to the teacher's bathroom or something, if it's there. Either side/gender's bathroom (and the people!) can become so miserable that it's just not worth it for anyone. I imagine high school to be more survival mode than anything else, for a lot of these people.

If this is all about discrimination, why limit it? Why not just allow equal access to all? I am sure I have showered next to a lesbian or two, so why not just have completely neutral bathrooms and showers? Why is there any seperation? If a heterosexual male prefers to use a women's room, why should he be discriminated against due to his preference?

edit add: Realized some may not recognize this as subtle sarcasm. Truly, something else is going on, since transgenders are not anything new...so what changed?

I'm just glad that there's a side of me still gets a kick out of idiots arguing with other idiots about idiotic subject matter.

When that side is gone I will truly be sad.

Or we could go the other direction and just discriminate against everybody. Equal discrimination across the board. I think that's the real answer here. Imagine walking in to a restaurant and finding 16 different restrooms, each with a different label, and getting to choose from that list.

I'm a " murikan" in the obvious sense of the term.

I don't fear for me or mine because I will go to jail as long and as many times as I have to to keep mine safe.

I fear for others children, because it is obvious where this goes if you make it OK to just claim you feel like a female today so you get to use the woman's showers etc..

Well not you specifically Duke, I disagree with you on most things but I know your heart is in the right place.

True transgender folks are not even a concern of mine, I am concerned about those posers that will claim this in order to propagate their deviant behavior.

Same sex marriage became legal, and that pissed off the religious right conservative groups. They are struggling to take back some control.

Yes, you are a 'muirikan', I will not disagree. This is not about people 'claiming they feel like a female today' and the next day not. If true transgender folks are not a concern of yours, why would you keep them from the bathroom they identify with?

True equality has no need for labels. Labels create division and seperation. So why do so many push for equality, but create this inequality at the same time?

Except " gender identity " is exactly the terminology used.

Meaning, any man that claims to identify as a female is in fact transgender now, regardless of appearance.

Not according to the medical and legal definitions, he or she is in fact not. Behavior is part of gender identity.

As I said, your ignorance is showing.
