Trump is the one who shut it down because he was afraid. After seeing the actual violence of Trumpkins at his rallies the protesters should have been afraid, but they showed up anyway. Trump could have gone on, the cops eventually would have cleared out the protesters.

Wrong again! He did it after consulting with the Secret Service, and the Chicago PD!

He decided safety was the right thing to do, because some spoiled college students, who are highly educated by the way, are too damned stupid to understand what freedom of speech actually means!
