Excellent. Kids don't go to school to get dumbed down by the right wing on the public dime.

Wow, what abject ignorance of the situation. Barack, is that you?

So you aren't ok with kids going to school and getting dumbed down by the right wing on the public dime, but you are perfectly ok with them going to school and getting dumbed down by the left wing on the public dime?

THANKS FOR AN EXCELLENT AND IMPORTANT POST.

REF: www.foxnews.com...

For example, the Connecticut Republican Party website was blocked. The Connecticut Democratic Party website was not blocked. National Right to Life was blocked, but Planned Parenthood was not blocked. Connecticut Family, a pro-traditional marriage group, was blocked, but LGBT Nation was not blocked.

Andrew found that even Pope Francis was blocked from the school’s web service. But although he could not access the Vatican website, the school allowed him to access an Islamic website.

What an unConstitutional unmitigated outrage. I hope the parents uhhhh express themselves via every communications channel available.

The globalist oligarchy is more and more brazen in such efforts.

What clueless idiots the sheeple are who go along with them.

History is written by the winners and policy is set by the people in the room.

The problem occurred much earlier when no one with a conservative outlook was there to make sure it didn't happen. Personal responsibility is the way to go, not blame after the fact.

Progressive leftists are cowards.

They know that their ideology can't stand against any competing ideology, so they ban/deny access to any other platform that runs contrary to their own.

This is nothing more than an illustration or progressive cowardice.

I believe that it won't be stopped firmly, if at all, until after Armageddon, the literal Armageddon the globalists are rushing the planet toward.

If you believe instilling a predilection and preference for living in this reality rather than the alternate one right wingers prefer to live in is 'dumbding down by the left', yeah.

Sure.

Just because a child may have unrestricted access to these sites elsewhere doesn't make it excusable that they don't have access to them at their school. You know the facility that is supposed to be providing them with an education?

. . .

The difference between ATS and a school's network is that ATS is privately owned and can set its own rules for user conduct. A school is publicly owned and is subject to the rules of the Constitution and state.

Evidently the END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT AND JESUS ARE DEFINITELY COMING!

I agree with you--twice!

THANKS FOR ILLUSTRATING SO VIVIDLY

the globalist, communist, REGRESSIVE, supremely arrogant perspective.

No big surprise . . . the brazenness of such cluelessness is still shocking at times.

This article (surprisingly, from the examiner) explains the situation very clearly, for those who want the facts. For the rest of you, just keep complaining about something you THINK is happening, but is actually not.

School Accused of Blocking Conservative Sites is Much Ado About Nothing.

Additionally, Goeler said that the district "does not block individual sites, only categories of websites [which are determined by Dell SonicWALL]."

This is a key distinction consistent with statements made by Patrick Sweeney, Executive Director of Product Management of Dell SonicWALL. In a teleconference, Sweeney told the Examiner that websites are placed into categories, which are then used by the local administrators. The process is two-fold, Sweeney explained.
...
In this author's humble opinion, the current evidence does not show intent to block websites based on political ideology.

IMO, it's NOT Ok to block one side and not the other, but this was a mistake, made by a third party and it's being rectified. If you don't have any patience for mistakes and don't have time to wait for it to be fixed, then rant on...

Yep.

They do not like competition.

The world we live in is everyone is a 'winner' well anyone who agrees with them.

Those who don't it's 'access denied'.

I'm sure the local globalist/ communist/ regressive stooges could give you a list of places.

Then you can suck-up to their far worse, more rigid [read extermination for not complying], more tyrannical, more arbitrary, more ruthless, MORE !!!CONTROLLING!!! [you can get your MARK OF THE BEAST CHIP ID IMPLANT NOW to insure a greased certain chute to hell and join all your globalist friends in the ultimate punitive tyranny], MORE HEARTLESS, MORE NARROW, MORE FALSE, . . .

You must have found your values under a rock courtesy of the globalist machine in charge of media, education, Hollyweed etc. for decades.

Much to do about nothing ?

Been paying attention to the current state of the union.

A clear 'liberal' bias runs wild through our educational system in this country.

Blocking websites is one symptom, there there are the text books, but not even going to stop there.

Then we can go on to college, and universities.

Then from there go on to hollywood, in the land of fame, and fiction.

Then move on to that other land of fame, and fiction the mainstream media.

Then from there we can move on to the land, and more fiction the land of social media.

Facebook, and Twitter.

There is a clear liberal bias that overshadows 'critical thinking' in this country.

And this is 'much to do about nothing'.

IT's MUCH TO DO ABOUT EVERYTHING.

And you would be 100 percent correct!...Kind of anyway.
All of ATS's decisions are most likely made by a board who is appointed or hired for one reason or another.
With a school board some are voted in by the people within the voting district and some are appointed.
The problem with the ones voted in, is the same problem with voting for anything else.
Many of the voters do not have a dog in the fight and just don't care, others may just be stupid, leaving a small percentage of truly informed voters.
Either way the machine malfunctions and the only way to fix it is time and knowledge, time is free knowledge is rare and expensive.

(Edit)
The only way to combat this idiocy is for the parents that care to pull their children out of this sausage grinder we call a school system and home school them.
But there is the rub, parents don't really care.
All the parents really want is an education as easy and quick as their fast food.

If you understand how blacklists and content filtering work, you'll realize that it is very unlikely to have anything to do with the school indoctrinating students. If the blocking was based on specific terms like "gun" or "Republican," one would expect that gun law reform and leftist websites would similarly be blocked for content as they're likely to contain many of the same terms. That leads me to believe they're using blacklists.

I don't have specific experience configuring Sonicwall as filtering web proxy, but I've used others and they all work alike. Currently I have a few pfSense firewalls deployed with Squid+SquidGuard+HAVP. With SquidGuard for example, one would set up download of the blacklists at regular intervals. These lists are maintained by the provider (some are free, others have restricted usage or a fee) and can contain millions of sites. They're broken out into categories and the administrator configures the ACLs based on target categories and groups of IPs/hosts. It's of course possible to block individual sites within a proxy or with firewall rules but that quickly becomes cumbersome and would require constant maintenance (that's why people use blacklist services) and nobody does that.

Here's a link to the categories used by Sonicwall for their subscription service:

Dell Sonicwall Content Filtering Rating Categories

There are a lot of people commenting about something they have little or no understanding of but hey, don't let me rain on this conservative pity party — everyone knows how persecuted the right is
