I did not know that she almost died from the coffee burns. That wasn't what I read but you know the media - so thanks for the information. Fill in the blank with a truly frivolous suit than and you will get my meaning.

I will be publishing research on real people's experiences with this (significant drop on motivation and hope - because work actually provides meaning to most people).

Here is an example of what my research is showing time and time again (not new but also not well disseminated).

Jane works for 10.00 an hour. She is 59 years old She works 40 hours a week at a job she does not find a great personal fulfillment in but feels enough value and companionship that she is happy. Her generation instilled in her that you work for a living and for good reason (idle time isn't necessarily good for all people).

She has no health insurance. She had been told her insurance will cost her 320.00 a month with a 10,000 deductible with Obamacare. This is because she doesn't make less than 11,900.00 a year. She is being asked to give up 1 weeks worth of wages for insurance she couldn't afford before and still can't afford now. She has a cheap 20.00 per month phone just for the basics. This serves as her home phone too. She does not have cable - she gets two local stations. She does have the internet but no wireless router / nothing fancy.

Now - Jane has learned if she drops her hours she will make more money (or be able to live within the law by having health insurance). Let's say her new income from a little over part time brings in 900 a month (must fall within the 11,900 threshold). She can get some food stamps, this insurance paid for, heating and rental subsidies. She just went from earning a little less than 1400 a month, with 1300.00 in expenses without this insurance - with zero reliance on the government to working part time, and relying on the government to subsidize her income.

Which is better - a hard working American who has no reliance on the government who makes 1400 a month and spends it as they choose

Or

A part time worker who relies on the government for 150.00 in food stamps, 300.00 in low income housing subsidies, a 50.00 per month heating voucher, and 320.00 for insurance? She just went from 1400 to 1730 a month! She now can afford that nice cell phone and cable tv.

Therefore - those who should drop their fancy phones and cable tv isn't relevant for the population I work with. They already live frugally. Who are these people with fancy phones who should be able to cut back to afford this insurance? It's actually a smoke screen. It bothers me enormously that people aren't opening their eyes to what is happening.

I don't have cable nor a cell phone. further more I don't have Facebook either.

I wont be signing up for Obamacare I don't need any dictator or congress that refuse to follow the law to tell me to abide the law , or in this case an unlawful tax.

This is just Great! It's like he's saying:

This is a few days old, but it’s amusing nonetheless. Barack Obama appeared in a town hall for Spanish-language media on March 6th to discuss ObamaCare and promote enrollments, and got challenged by a viewer on the economics of it for low-income Americans who are now forced to buy comprehensive health insurance.

Umm.. Yeah.. That is the problem. People don't seem to grasp this basic basic concept. We the people pay for them the government. Them is we and we is them. It's all the same thing and nothing is free.

People think the fairy health mother is paying for it all or something. Well....Look around. We're it. We're 'them' to get stuck with the tab. Fun isn't it?

Remember that reasonable and wise (by relative comparison) man who simply told the nation to drive 55 and wear a sweater? Ahh...and people thought he was asking so much. They had NO idea back then. No clue at all.

We asked for Kennedy and got sent Carter's runner up.

Well , I could easily come across as contradictory myself.

But Lets be Realistic, too many folks have been brainwashed
by advertising, and would rather purchase the latest Jordan Nikes

is a responsible and necessary prerequisite to creating a stable
future for not only yourself, but your Family.

Cancel the TV, Cancel the Cell Phone, Cancel the Internet.
Why the hell not, try something different.
taken in that context, I agree with The President.

It really shows how little most people make and how bad the "affordable" health care is. If we should cut back on cable and phones to pay for healthcare how are people suppose to save for retirement? I look at this healthcare as a townhouse or track home rather than owning an actual house. when owning a townhouse or track home in a park even if you pay it off you still have to pay for maintenance of the property. Why would you want that? The health care is expensive and has very LARGE deductibles. Why would I want that? Its like paying for something you will never use. It shows how out of touch he is with everything we are going through as a nation. I'm 37 and the way things are going Social Security will not be there when I try to retire even though I am putting money into the system now. How am I going to retire when you can't even pay for health care and cable together let alone save money for retirement? I give the US 5 to 10 years before everything falls apart (maybe less).

Maybe Obama should be asking himself, why in this great country of ours, should people need to choose between cable television, cell phones and healthcare?

I have relatives who live in Eastern Europe, an area which isn't nearly as well off as we are here(but a lovely area nonetheless). Guess what, they all have cable tv, multiple cell phones, free healthcare, eat organic, have a longer life expectancy AND work fewer hours per week than the average American.

Obama is an idiot.

Maybe he's got a point. Everyone I see is looking down at a fancy Smart phone, and seems to have the money to buy cable tv plus the extra packages. Many don't seem to be cutting back on the miles they drive or what kind of car they drive. The restaurants are still full of people ordering steak, and I still see it sold in the stores, so someone is buying it.

And how many people now think it's normal to have a cell phone on every person in the household that's over four years old?

Until you travel of course, and see that numerous countries we're told aren't nearly as great a place as America are full with citizens playing on the same smart phones, going home and watching cable television, eating organic, having free health care and getting much, much more affordable college education, if not completely free.

That this once proud nation as citizens thinking it acceptable, with OUR resources, to make citizens choose between cell phones and health care is asinine.

That is worthy of a submission to USA today in my opinion. Especially the first and last sentence (but all of it is perfect). I hope you will submit as it is the ideal comeback and I would like to hear him answer it. I wonder what he would say.

His comments aren't really aimed at the poor so much as the lowest of the middle class. The poor can get Medicaid and obamaphones so they have that little bit extra for cable. It's the working upper poor and lower middle who get screwed, again.

Actually, I beg to differ. I am in the poor class. The $320 per month for coverage, which is what I have to pay, is 1/3 of my monthly pay. I do not qualify for medicare or anything like that since I am a single white male with no kids. The cell phone keeps me in a job. Cable? I get two channels on my rabbit ears. I don't go out, I don't party, I buy maybe a new pair of socks once a year. Clothes, well lets just say I'm wearing the same shirt I had on 5 years ago. Clothes don't wear out until they are a tattered shred, then they get demoted to rags. To pay my insurance I have to live out of my car cuz forget paying the trailer rent. This is a horrible-horrible thing. Obama is a stupid, upper class raised moron who wouldn't last a day sleeping in a bush and searching for a meal in a dumpster. # him.

I would beg to differ.
Obama is not a Full Blown Socialist.
He is a middle of the road kind of character.
Trying to squeeze something, for those who don't have
(and will never have) anything, from those who do have ,
have always had, and will continue to have Everything.

Drop your cell phone communication for health insurance. LOL Kind of counter productive isn't it? What about calling 911? Most people have migrated to a cell phone or VOIP service that happens to run over the cable line.

The last time I had a POT wired in the house was 6 years ago and it's still 40 bucks a month to this day to put one telephone in. Well 40 dollars a month can get you into a basic cell phone plan with 600 anytime minutes, free calls after 9 pm, free weekends, unlimited text. So which is the better deal? Obama is a tool.

They complain about food stamps, but will drop a billion dollars for foreign aid in another country. LOL We live in a backwards world where nonsense makes sense. Take that billion dollars and build a agricultural farm so everyone can eat, now that makes sense. Take a billion dollars and go to the patent office and build something that benefits everyone. That's how you create jobs, and rebuild a economy so it thrives. Seriously these officials have FAILED economics.

I need a phone in order to communicate. I need cable in order to receive news. If I cancel both then I become nothing more than a half wit who knows nothing. If that is what Obama wants then he should not care about the entire United State's education level, and cut education funding and forward it to his stupid health care deal.

Seriously why try to be the "honor scout" anymore. His parade ended two years ago after he was re-elected.

Saying we don't need a cell phone or news is like telling us our country is a lie. A big sinkhole that is just barely being held over until the next presidential election. I am drunk right now so please excuse my rudeness.

Well since the country is $17+ Trillion in debt, I suggest a few little cutbacks here and there as well:

White House with staff...how about a room a motel for $40/night for the rest of your term in office?
Full security detail? How about one guy with a double barrel shotgun? Heck if he likes you he might even do it for free or just ask Joe Biden. He likes shotguns for defense.
Air Force One for travel? Go Greyhound for $100 anywhere in the lower 48. Last I checked, none of the countries visited have much to do with how the US is ran.

After all, it is for the good of the country that you ask those barely getting by to lower their standards. And since the country itself isn't even getting by, then giving up some of the frills shouldn't be a problem then, should it?

What's the difference? He's done anyway. Most have figured out what he really is. The rest will love him no matter what.
