Moscow to demand $20 bn from Ukraine, if it brings back ‘zero option’

“Ukraine took obligations to transfer, and the Russian Federation to accept the obligation for payment of Ukraine’s share of external public debt of the USSR as of December 1, 1994. Thats funny now Russia is trying to use blackmail. However i dont think it would hold up in court so its irrelevant. Because if they go back to zero option they would also have to return all assets they took out of Ukraine as well and pay interest on them including a large portion of their military bases and the black sea fleet. But im sure that would all come out in the court case but what is enlightening is there trying to get Ukraine to agree that Crimea is now part of Russia.

If I agree to buy an item, then I have a disagreemnt with the company, then decide to stop paying for it and the company comes asking for the money, am I right or wrong? Are they right or wrong?

Weird analogy in this case Russia had debt upon the breakup of the Soviet Union there argument is essentially we took on this debt and didnt charge the satellite countries when they left. The problem is they agreed to take on this debt in exchange for their stuff they took back to Russia so im not sure if your analogy is close to applying here at all.

Various reports on Twitter coming through now of Russian military snipers shooting at a Ukrainian military base in Simferopol. Snipers are believed to be in a nearby building shooting from windows. I can't believe how patient the Ukrainian military have been but maybe that will change now.

How can the Ukrainian army just up and leave Crimea . They have a lot of military assets there. But Russia should give them time to gather the stuff and then leave. This attack does not help in anyway whatsoever.

I am just checking the Ukraine Defence Ministry website now for anything official as multiple tweets have said CNN are reporting this and have confirmed it when they haven't.

UPDATE: I have checked the Ministry of Defence website for Ukraine and no reports from them.

Lol for Peace of mind of some people please refer to Crimea(hence Russia) and Ukraine as separate entities when talking of bases or anything else.
