Illegal New York synagogue tunnel leads to 9 arrests

They're pretty worked up - whatever it is they don't want prying eyes

A tunnel under a synagogue seems like a big non-story, especially when it's so far away. What's the big deal?

I'm kinda curious as to what Jewish bathhouses are all about.

Odd that ATS has kept quiet about it, why ?? *we know*
No comments on ATS as to why there was a bloodied kids mattress
in the tunnel ? kids toys ? and why built next to the
children's center ?
Or why older men of chabad members were crawling out of
the underground sewer grates to avoid the police arresting them ?
ATA is awfully quiet on this. Not surprised the 'cowboys' are
silent hoping it gets swept under the rug.

I’m sure the tunnels came up in a Jewish deli down the street. Gotta have the Matzo Ball soup and the Pastrami on rye.

Shame they seem to have filled it in pretty quick before investigating. Nothing suspicious there. Everything about this stinks to high heaven.

They are there for the exact same reasons all the tunnels in Israel are there.
So it should be obvious who dug them...

Got a link to that information. I haven't read that anywhere.
What I read was that it was an empty crude tunnel. That's it.
Please provide a link to that information that you are alleging.

I've been reading that the tunnel connects a Jewish community center and an old unused mikvah (Jewish bathhouse).

About six months ago, it appears that a group of yeshiva students associated with the messianic movement began to dig tunnels, connecting the synagogue with an unused mikvah to gain unauthorised access to 770.

As with many Jewish issues, tunnel-gate began with an internal dispute. 770 Eastern Parkway is the former home of the the sixth Lubavitcher Rebbe, Rabbi Yosef Yizchock Schneerson, and an iconic site for the Chabad movement. During the 1940s, the building became the HQ of Chabad, serving as a shul, yeshiva, and the home of successive Rabbis. Now, it attracts thousands of visitors from across the world each year. The issue is, nobody can agree on who owns it.

For decades, 770 has been caught up in a legal dispute between Agudath Chasidei Chabad (effectively, the Chabad-Lubavitch movement), and a sect of Messianic Chasidim, who not only believe that the last Rebbe who died in 1994 is the Messiah, but that he is still physically alive. In 2006, a lawsuit ruled that Chabad had full ownership over 770, but those who believe in the Messiahship of the Rebbe won’t let go of what they see as their Temple.

Okay .. you didn't come back and answer my question so I googled. There is ONE article HERE , that says there was seen in a picture a dirty child size mattress and a high chair. Nothing about blood. Nothing about toys. The one picture looks like there is a a lot of crap in the tunnel. Junk.

Why the heck would they need to be hidden or escape tunnels in place under a New York synagogue?

Who is it they imagine is coming to get them or for what other purpose were the tunnels intended seem to be the most pertinent questions.

The tunneling started from an unused mikvah (Jewish bathhouse) then broke an entering into the community center.

What's been going on in the "unused" mikvah (Jewish bathhouse), besides a tunneling operation? That's my question.
