Talked to others in a similar situation, they agree knowing that you want to be back with Mrs. Cowboy.
But the load taken off the mind of someone worried about their home and everything responsible that comes with... You're a saint and doing good.

Everyone is talking a good game but no one is lifting a finger to help.

That is what bothers me the most. Nobody wants to help.
My sibling wanted to turn into Sherlock Holmes AFTER my dad passed.
Sure didn’t care what happened during the 15 YEARS prior.
Luckily another sibling took care of it. I’m not a violent person but I was sure ready to slap some people.

I can really, really empathise with you as in the last year I've had three close friends pass on with cancer. Your father in law is luckt to have a son like you. The good people are dew and far between.
All that we can do is muddle on and try and make the best of a bad world. Truely, as others have said, if I lived closer to you I would share your load as it's very hard to do it on your own.
If you get the chance find and read "The Desiderata" poem. My prayers are with you.
