Oh come on Randy, nobody has been 'hating' in this thread

I have. I hate everyone...
PMSL!!!

EDIT
I love everyone even if they are unkind and unfriendly, basic human love, I've been in savage violent situations and then tended for my enemy when he was no longer a threat. Genuine caring love for fellow man who wanted to hurt me but then needed me. Call me a hippy, whatever, I don't need any god to tell me how to be good, I'd even argue like a badass with the alleged Christian god.
Have a good Friday night though mate, it's only ever interesting chat with me. We'd be chatting the same if we were playing a game of pool in my local.

You sound like the best enemy in the world.
You're in the UK yeah?
We'll have to meet up sometime for a beer and a punch up, then a hug and another beer and a game of pool followed by another punch up and more hugging.

Lol. I dunno what's wrong with me sometimes...

PMSL!
Come on dude, you know your "hate" allegations were based on nothing, it's okay to be wrong, I hold my hands up every time I'm pulled up.
Nobody has posted hateful comments in this thread, but feel free to quote some I may have missed.

Stating your personal opinion isn't definitive proof of existence.

Hold up a sec?
When did this turn into wanting definitive proof of the existence of God??
The issue here was wanting to know WHY people believe in God.

Move the goal posts much? Very scientific!

as a matter of fact, the initial contention was that atheism is presumptuous and conceited. followed by discussion.

is it safe to assume that you clicked the thread because you were interested in sharing why you believe in god? perhaps.

is it safe to assume that definitive proof of god is no longer relevant based on your specific interest? probably not.

is it safe to assume that definitive proof of any kind would make even a little difference in the debate?

...lets just say its okay to dream.

I'm completely unsure of my beliefs. Ever changing and difficult to comprehend myself, let alone put into words. So sharing, no

I don't think any kind proof would make any difference at all.
I think evidence would and should make all the difference in the world. I can certainly show why evidence should make a difference and i can convince you that evidence can sway your opinion.

I meant specifically proof of God.
I think most would still deny due to the real reason most don't want to believe.
well, You were obviously convinced at some point by some piece of information. The question is, was that piece of information reasonable?

I am assuming that it was not, since you do not seem to want to share it here for discussion.

Could you rephrase please? I'm not entirely sure what you're asking?

Do you believe in gods, supreme beings, spirits, or goblins?

I have a belief in possibility, if that gives you any ammo?
I’m not looking for ammo, i am looking for an open and honest conversation. If all you want to do is be vague and beat around the bush, then you’re probably not the kind of person i am looking for.

It’s a simple question. Everybody believes in possibilities, that is not the question i have asked you though. Do you believe in gods, supreme beings, spirits, or goblins?

Woodcarver, you are trying to bull# a bull#ter....
You can either engage in the conversation or you can ignore me. Idc either way.

So can you show me why you believe
something so ridiculous or not? Show me
your observable evidence that life can come
from some place other than life. This being
the outlandish genesis of your belief
please show me?

we'll see about that

This post and your opening post clearly states your minds tunnel vision, lack of not only understanding of there views but also of a greater ignorance. An ignorance that your OP that your beliefs are greater than anyone else's and anyone who would challenge said beliefs is indeed ignorant or deems themselves to be higher than some all seeing, all-powerful.

There is nothing wrong with being religious, but do not let it cloud your judgement or feel it gives you the right to judge others that disagree with your beliefs.

Your replies are indicative of someone out for an argument/trolling

So easy to turn the table on you.

This is the issue I have with atheism.

They ridicule with nothing on the table.

Atheism swaps what it perceieves to be myth
for nothing more than silliness.

Atheists abandon open minded intelligence
for childish closed minded ridicule.

All to escape the notion of authority.

OK, let's play...

You asked if I believe in gods, supreme beings, spirits, or goblins.

Yes Woodcarver, yes I believe in gods, supreme beings, spirits AND goblins...

Not Hobgoblins though. That would be ridiculous...

Now this is really interesting.
If you change the word religious to scientific in this quote it could be a reply to a lot of Woodcarver's posts.

Food for thought...

This is the main problem with using one form of belief to understand the world around us. Using one system or sticking to one form of bias whether scientific or religious , will only result in a minimum amount of possible outcomes or theories.

That is not how you expand your mind or knowledge..

I am starting to believe in trolls. And this is all your side has to offer. Which is why nonbelievers are the fastest growing demographic in America.

You know that the more you engage in this conversation on public forums the less and less support you gain for your side of the argument. if you had any good points to make I’m sure you would’ve made them.
