Still trump might be the best president since regean so we shall wait and see.

No, shes just an ultra liberal activist judge that tries to influence polticial elections with her social justice warrior opinions, which if you really look at what happened in this election, you will notice that people are sick and tired of that attitude. A justice is supposed to interpret the constitution, not legislate from the bench, but she never followed that.

Oh yeah, Social Justice, Equal Treatment, Equal Rights.

So horrible that we have to get along, be nice to each other, treat each other with respect.

The Horrors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My only real comment here is that while people SHOULD be polite, to legislate politeness is only going to lead to more DOnald Trump types being elected by people who feel that they are being shouted down.

We should all have free choice over what to do with ourselves.

I think a good lesson for all people to learn is how to manage ones own feelings without projecting onto the rest of the world.

If its only a problem in schools, and not in the world at large, it could be that because in schools we tend to coddle children rather than actually preparing them for the real world.

Having raised a gay child, I've pondered this quite a bit to figure out what I would have done (im empathetic in general, so do this sort of thing a lot). I can't imagine my actions would go beyond teaching my son how to adapt and cope in a healthy manner. its always easier to bend one than millions.

And we all do it. Smokers go outside. Fat people pony up for the extra seat. Short people can never reach the cups in the cabinet. We all have our struggles that we have to overcome. Its important, psychologically, to teach people to approach this in a healthy manner from a young age. It might help the general flow into neurosis I see The People making, if nothing else.

A gay child doesn't have the bathroom issue.

I don't see any coddling in a 5 year old girl with boy parts having the right to use the girls bathroom.

Believe me, I am far more Republican then Democrat. Personal responsibility, dedication, hard work, integrity are at the top of my list. My adult kid called in sick to work one day because of a hangover. After "mom Armageddon", she never did that again.

I'm raising my 8 year old to be a successful, contributing, responsible, educated, effective person/adult for the world he will be a part of.

I don't coddle.

However, I fully support forced law guaranteeing Equal Rights & Equal Treatment.

I do not support religious interference in reason to deny Equality. Religious belief is the #1 opposition to Equal Rights of LGBT.

Religion is personal choice. It has no business in politics.

LGBQT community is worried?

Have NONE of them or you watched this?

Peter Thiel. The openly gay founder of PayPal and initial investor in Facebook. I huge voice. He introduced President Trump at the RNC convention. He said in his speech he is 'Proud to be gay".

I do not think they have anything to worry about.

Folks, this is not the old GOP. This is a new party who pushed aside the old GOP and destroyed the DNC in one fail swoop.
It is more accepting, tolerant and open to all then the media or the DNC media machine will allow you to believe.

When there was rampant knock out games it was not covered but today any tweet or FB post that is the least bit degrading to anyone is blamed on Trump. They do not cover the videos of young black youth beating people because they voted for Trump but the HuffPo will say lesbians are at risk.

YOU, WE, US are the issue if there is racism or sexual issues in this country. We are all not that backward. It is just the narrative to keep up the race and sexual war in the US.

Until we can get past what defines gender, its a moot point.

I, personally, believe our chromosomes pretty much lay it out there. Scientifically, your gender is determined by X and Y.

Beyond that, its just people wanting to do what people do (figure out ways to bully each other, and create classifications that demonize others).

The "coddling" remark...we coddle all children. "If you don't bring enough for everyone then you can't have any" is a mantra is schools. We huddle them up in little collectivist groups. "One bad apple can spoil the whole bunch" is another example of collectivism.

But thats an aside, regarding coddling....kids are emotional wrecks in general. And attention must be paid to these little bags of raw emotion so that the day can be maneuvered with the least amount of fallout. Every day in a high school is a powder keg of emotions waiting to explode.

That is not what science is saying.

I feel sad that you're still holding on to that antiquated thinking.

Brian Brown & NOM are already gearing up.

Science says exactly that. You determine gender via chromosomes. Its just the way it is.

Its not antiquated. Its the facts. XX is woman. Denying this is why this whole conversation is so effed up to begin with. Instead of just saying, "Hey, i am free to do what i want, if you don't like it don't look" people have gone trying to shoehorn it into science.

Psychology is not science. I have respect for psychology...but it isn't science. Even though it may seem such often.

If you are going to deny that XX/XY determines gender, ill need to see what you're basing this on.

Trump won't be the issue. The guy is a New Yorker and is most likely liberal on many social issues (privately now of course)

The issue will be with the people he's going to surround himself with. Im hearing names like Guiliani, Gov Christie, Sara Palin, and Newt... plus some other neo-conservatives that will be advising him on these things... That's big time trouble for all of us if you ask me.

Is neurology part of science? What if the brain is physically set up in such a way as to make a person identify as a specific gender when the rest of the body is set up differently? Which one wins - the conscious identity in the brain or the chromosomes which determine the rest of the physical body? This is what the new science is starting to tell us. There may be a disconnect between the physical brain and the rest of the body. Could you at least entertain the possibility? Have you looked at the latest science? There are no sure answers yet. But we are finding out that it is not as simple as xx/xy.

You realize you're advocating assault right?

Assault being unjustified physical harm directed towards another person.

Do that around me, and, male, or female; be prepared to catch these hands. I will be justified in protecting someone. You'll go to jail, I won't.

So what are you saying? All those years of feminism fighting the 'old school' of thought that there is a male or female brain? You know what I'm talking about. "Boys are better at math." Feminism fought that tooth and nail. So now there is a male and female brain? Cognitive dissonance at work me thinks. Answer me this. Are the male and female brain different scientifically or not? If they are not then the feminist were right. If they are then the transgender idea is right. But they can't both be true. So pick one. Either way, logically speaking, you will piss someone off.

im not saying its not possible. Im not closed minded (anyone who's particpated with me in these types of topics, know this). But neuroscience hasn't discovered anything concrete in regards to this. Mostly because, while we hve the machines to detect activity....we don't really know what most of it means. Its all correlation right now. Its still in its infancy.

I have no doubt that a persons mind works differently between being gay, straight, TG, etc. But I also have to recognize the mind is not the body. Especially when it comes to sex, as neuroscience has also proven that sex and fear can tend to be confused. People often experience emotions that they aren't even aware of

For me, if my opinion is to change, ill need some facts. Because I have pondered all these other questions already.

To begin with, having your daughter go to the bathroom with a woman who looks and acts like a man and is attracted to women should be more disturbing to you. I guess a lot of it is disturbing because it's territory that a lot of Republicans don't understand. When people don't understand things, they get scared or angry. A gay person is a person just like any other. Transexuals tend to feel like they are supposed to be the opposite sex. Check out my later post to see a study about the sexual similarities between straight women and gay men (and also straight men and gay women).

As for another reason gays and transexuals and bisexuals could be worried - there has been talk of overturning Roe v. Wade which means Trump might also try some shenanigans to reverse the same-sex marriage ruling. He is also placing at least one Republican on the Supreme Court.

It is also a moral defeat for LGBT because they do tend to identify with Democrats. Republicans tend to be the kind of people who don't take the time to get to know their issues (or think it is a waste of their time) etc. etc. Having Trump win could make Republicans feel justified in remaining ignorant of LGBT issues.

As a psychology graduate, I have heard that straight men's brains operate like a man's and gay men's brains operate like a woman's. In fact, studies have been done about this.

Researchers using brain scans have found new evidence that biology—and not environment—is at the core of sexual orientation. Scientists at the Stockholm Brain Institute in Sweden report in the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences USA that gay men and straight women share similar traits—most notably in the size of their brains and the activity of the amygdala—an area of the brain tied to emotion, anxiety and aggression. The same is true for heterosexual men and lesbians.
