Erm.....why?

Because people believe everything they read on the 'internets', and see's on their tele's.

Hey don't feel bad.

Canada has BLM chapter too.

IDIOCRASY highly contagious, and no known cure.

I guess we sent over our anti gun campaigners so it probably makes us even

The funniest thing I ever saw was a newscaster on American tv describing a black British man as "African-American".

Sorry you have to put up with the craziness.

Slavery ended in the UK 1833!

Its been nearly 200 years

And the blacks in the UK are not even here because there ancestors were forced here.
Slaves were not kept on the british mainland .

They are here through voluntary immigration.

Uk already apologised multiple timed foe slavery. What the hell else are we meant to do?

It's been said that it was his first "instinct".

But as your post indicates, after freedmen fought on the side of the Union, colonization--forced, anyway, was never really an option. He surely knew that. Whatever else he was, he was a consument politician.

You must be talking about Piers Morgan.

Was it on The History Channel by chance?

They seem generally confused over there.

One suggestion might be to educate them on slave trade in Africa, their ancestors earned a lot of money with slave trade.
Teach them about zeitgeist, hundreds years ago it was fairly common but in this modern age we know better.
Teach them about slavery in this modern age which is still going on in Afrika and the middle east.
But blm is not about slavery, it is a racist movement that seeks polarisation (black against white) and thus a destabilisation of our society.

Okay so here they're still "protesting", again today:

Protestors bring London's streets to a standstill in Black Lives Matter rally after US police shot two black men dead

How are we to not take this as an SJW celebration?

That is why.

Sorry, London. It's like a damn virus. Now we gave it to you. This makes absolutely no sense.

People protesting here in the UK simply because they are stupid and follow American culture far too closely, we are even starting to see black women fighting in fast food places. I've always been happy with the way black and white coexist here in the UK, bar some notable exceptions people tend to get on here but it started to mirror America and the trend has started to grow.

As for our Police, the worst you might get from them is some lip, again there have been exceptions with mysterious deaths in Police cells but there's no real comparison between Police here and in the UK, no guns, less attitude, less aggression.

Mind you, I'd not want to be an American Cop, seems most negotiations are done with gun fire rather than words..

The abolition of slavery across the British Empire (1807/1833) gave the Royal Navy the opportunity to crack down on the slave trade. Huge numbers of Africans being shipped from Africa to America were saved.

The story of HMS Black Joke - Slave chaser is quite interesting for those who enjoy history.

Regardless, the problem with race in America is highly complex and I do not purport to be an expert. However, the African Americans need to move on from the "victim" status and the white Americans need to enable this to happen. Blacks continuing to segregate themselves just plays into the hands of the apathetic whites. Change does not happen by complaining to Holywood that there are no decent black actors, nor does it happen by allowing a plethora of African American groups that are set apart from the mainstream.

I guess if you don't want to keep addressing this civil rights issue, we will all be back in the same situation in 50 years time. It's clearly not just going to go away because you don't like it

Absolutely. In an earlier post which I expected to be ignored as it's inconvenient to them, the metropolitan police were classed as institutionally racist within this century. Whilst it's fair to say you are much less likely to be shot and killed by the police in the UK, that's not to say our police are all angels or that there aren't issues. It's interesting that you are in fact more likely to die in police custody than be shot by the police.

If BLM ultimately boils down to a protest around what's seen as institutional racism in some of the American police forces, then I can clearly understand why some on this side of the ocean feel empathy.

Casual racism is a wonderful thing isn't it? If you had watched the protest you would have seen that there were as many white faces as black in the protest.

Mind you, if you really want to push this, let's talk about the (largely white) people hoisting a banner proclaiming that ironically oxymoronic statement of 'Socialist Worker' any given day of the week whenever there is a protest about anything.

Hundreds of people have marched on Westminster in protest at the shooting of two black men by police in America.

The Black Lives Matter march went through central London to the Houses of Parliament at about 20:00 BST.

The marchers were heard to shout "Hands up, don't shoot" as they carried banners through the capital.

The march is in response to the fatal shootings of Philando Castile in Minnesota and Alton Sterling in Louisiana.

Erm.....why?

Can someone tell these morons THEY ARE PROTESTING IN THE WRONG FECKING COUNTRY!

UK police dont even have dam guns!

And the UK does not (rightfully) have any influence over internal US Law enforcement affairs,

Thanks America for importing these thugs over

Um why? Because LIFE is not only about breathing or burried - but about QUALITY OF LIFE! Quality of life for dark skinned folks, especially children in the UK is VERY LOW! Unfairly so, it's about time they stand up against it.

"Black Lives Matter" Is not only about life and death, but about having a fair chance at life.
